Information about disease management in winter wheat （Triticum aestiva） in eight European countries was collated and analysed by scientists and extension workers within the European Network for the Durable Exploitation of Crop Protection Strategies （ENDURE）. This included information about specific disease thresholds, decision support systems, host varieties, disease prevalence and pathogen virulence. Major differences in disease prevalence and economic importance were observed. Septoria tritici blotch （Mycosphaerella graminicola） was recognized as the most yield reducing disease in countries with intensive wheat production, but also rust diseases （Puccinia striiformis and Puccinia triticina）, powdery mildew （Blumeria graminis） and Fusarium head blight （Fusarium spp.） were seen as serious disease problems. Examples of current integrated pest management （IPM） strategies in different countries have been reported. Disease management and fungicide use patterns showed major differences, with an average input equivalent to 2.3 full dose rates （TFI） in the UK and a TFI of 0.6 in Denmark. These differences are most likely due to a combination of different cropping systems, climatic differences, disease prevalence, and socio-economic factors. The web based information platform *** was used for dissemination of information and results including information on control thresholds, cultural practices which can influence disease attack, fungicide efficacy, fungicide resistance, and pathogen virulence, which are all elements supporting 1PM for disease control in wheat. The platform is open to all users. The target groups of EuroWheat information are researchers, advisors, breeders, and similar partners dealing with disease management in wheat.

Isotopic characteristics of the postorogenic granites in orogenic belt of northern China and their implications in crustal growth

The orogenic belt of northern China is characterized by widely developed postorogenic Ⅰ fractionated and A-type granites in the Phanerozoic. The isotopic data display relatively high ε Nd(t) and 206Pb/ 204Pb values and low I Sr ratio. The low T DM model ages (<100 Ma) suggest that the Neo-Proterozoic-Phanerozoic is one of the main stages in the continental growth.

Unlocking the ultrastructure of colorectal cancer cells in vitro using selective staining

AIM: To characterise differences between three widely used colorectal cancer cell lines using ultrastructural selective staining for glycogen to determine variation in metastatic properties. METHODS: Transmission electron microscopy was used in this investigation to help identify intracellular structures and morphological features which are precursors of tumor invasion. In addition to morphological markers, we used selective staining of glycogen as a marker for neoplastic cellular proliferation and determined whether levels of glycogen change between the three different cell lines. RESULTS: Ultrastructural analysis revealed morphological differences between the cell lines, as well as differentiation into two sub-populations within each cell line. Caco-2 cells contained large glycogen deposits as well as showing the most obvious morphological changes between the two sub-populations. SW480 cells also contained large glycogen stores as well as deep cellular protrusions when grown on porous filter membranes. HT-29 cells had trace amounts of glycogen stores with few cellular projections into the filter pores and no tight junction ***: Morphology indicative of metastatic properties coincided with larger glycogen deposits, providing strong evidence for the use of selective staining to determine the neoplastic properties of cells.

Diachroneity of continental subduction and exhumation:Constraints from the Permian-Triassic HP metamorphic terrane in the Tongbai orogen, central China

High-pressure(HP)metamorphic terrane in the Tongbai orogen comprises two HP slices(I and II)and a tectonic mélange zone in the northeast and a blueschist-greenschist zone in the *** slice I is represented by the northern and southern eclogite zones on the two sides of the Tongbaishan *** slice II is represented by retrograded eclogite-bearing metamorphic enclaves in Cretaceous gneissic granites in the Tongbai Complex.U-Pb,Lu-Hf,Rb-Sr and40Ar/39Ar multichronometric data indicate that the peak metamorphism of HP slice I took place at^255 Ma,whereas the metamorphic ages of HP slice II are as young as232–220 *** contrast,the tectonic mélange zone near the suture was metamorphosed at^256 *** a diachroneity of different slices across the direction of the orogen in the Hong’an-Dabie-Sulu HP/UHP terrane is ubiquitous,and it can be interpreted by a syn-subduction detachment/exhumation ***,the metamorphic age of HP slice I in the Tongbai orogen is older than that of the equivalent HP slice in the Hong’an orogen by^15 Ma,suggesting that the diachroneity may have also existed along the direction of the orogen.A seesaw-type subduction/exhumation model is proposed to explain this age disparity and the subduction of the South China Block becomimg shallower towards the west.

Multifaceted nature of membrane microdomains in colorectal cancer

Membrane microdomains or lipid rafts are known to be highly dynamic and to act as selective signal transduction mediators that facilitate interactions between the cell's external and internal *** rafts play an important mediating role in the biology of cancer:they have been found in almost all existing experimental cancer models,including colorectal cancer (CRC),and play key regulatory roles in cell migration,metastasis,cell survival and tumor *** paper explores the current state of knowledge in this field by highlighting some of the pioneering and recent lipid raft studies performed on different CRC cell lines and human tissue *** this literature review,it becomes clear that membrane microdomains appear to be implicated in all key intracellular signaling pathways for lipid metabolism,drug resistance,cell adhesion,cell death,cell proliferation and many other processes in *** signal transduction pathways seem to originate directly from those peculiar lipid islands,thereby orchestrating the colon cancer cells' state and *** confirmed by recent animal and preclinical studies in different CRC models,continuing to unravel the structure and function of lipid rafts-including their associated complex signaling pathways-will likely bring us one step closer to better monitoring and treating of colon cancer patients.

SNARE proteins mediate most membrane fusion reactions in eukaryotic cells,and are thereby vital for many functions,including synaptic transmission,cell growth,and ***,until recently it was still unclear how many of these proteins are required to catalyze membrane fusion in *** a recent Science paper,Mohrmann et al.(2010)elegantly show that in chromaffin cells,three SNARE complexes are required for the synchronous release of granules,whereas only a single SNARE complex is sufficient for overall release.

Strawberries are rich in polyphenols which impart health benefits when metabolized by the gut microbiome,including anti-inflammatory,neuroprotective,and antiproliferative *** addition,polyphenolic anthocyanins contribute to the attractive color of strawberry ***,the genetic basis of polyphenol biosynthesis has not been extensively studied in *** this investigation,ripe fruits from three cultivated strawberry populations were characterized for polyphenol content using HPLC-DAD-MSn and genotyped using the iStraw35k *** and QTL analyses identified genetic loci controlling polyphenol *** were identified on four chromosomes for pelargonidin-3-O-malonylglucoside,pelargonidin-3-O-acetylglucoside,cinnamoyl glucose,and ellagic acid deoxyhexoside ***/absence of ellagic acid deoxyhexoside and pelargonidin-3-O-malonylglucoside was found to be under the control of major gene loci on LG1X2 and LG6b,respectively,on the F.×ananassa linkage *** of gene predictions in the *** reference genome sequence identified a single candidate gene for ellagic acid deoxyhexoside biosynthesis,while seven malonyltransferase genes were identified as candidates for pelargonidin-3-O-malonylglucoside *** malonyltransferase genes were identified in the F.×ananassa‘Camarosa’genome sequence but the candidate for ellagic acid deoxyhexoside biosynthesis was absent from the‘Camarosa’*** study demonstrated that polyphenol biosynthesis in strawberry is,in some cases,under simple genetic control,supporting previous observations of the presence or absence of these compounds in strawberry *** has also shed light on the mechanisms controlling polyphenol biosynthesis and enhanced the knowledge of these biosynthesis pathways in *** above findings will facilitate breeding for strawberries enriched in compounds with beneficial health effects.

In this article, the authors give an overview of different logistics concepts for operation and maintenance of OWPP （offshore wind power plants）. These can be generally classified into onshore based and offshore based concepts. The operation of OWPPs can still be improved as research has shown that the availability of OWPPs is low compared to onshore wind power plants. There are a few tools to calculate operating costs and to evaluate the different concepts. However, most tools have a weak focus on logistics although logistics account for a big share of the costs. ＜正＞The Beishan orogen is situated in the southern margin of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt（CAOB）.It is connected with the Tianshan orogen to the west and the Mongolia-Xing’anling orogen to the *** orogen exhibits a well-preserved Neoproterozoic to Late Paleozoic sequence containing ophiolites,accretionary complexes and eclogites.U-Pb zircon dating of eclogites yielded two concordant ages,（886±4） Ma for the cores and（465±10） Ma for the *** zircon cores display bright luminescence with homogeneous or planar/sector zoning,intermediate Th/U ratios（0.17～0.47）,and HREE-enriched patterns with negative Eu anomalies（Eu/Eu* =0.16～0.58）.These features,coupled with their formation temperatures of 680～710℃,suggest that the core age represents the time of an earlier upper amphibolite facies metamorphic *** contrast,the zircon rims

A critical question in radiometric dating of metamorphic rocks is whether minerals used to define internal isochrons have achieved isotopic equilibrium during a given metamorphic event,followed by preservation of the equilibrium afterward.A garnet peridotite at Zhimafang in the Sulu terrane of eastern China shows incongruent U-Pb,Rb-Sr,and Sm-Nd *** SHRIMP U-Pb dating yielded an isochron age of 224±8 Ma,pointing to zircon growth during Triassic UHP meta-morphism. Two mineral assemblages gave consistent Rb-Sr internal isochron ages of 201±4 and 205±4 Ma,but much older Sm-Nd internal isochron ages of 376±16 and 378±24 ***, the Sm-Nd radiometric system fails to reequilibrate among the dated minerals during the Triassic UHP metamorphic event for the garnet *** result is confirmed by the state of oxygen isotope equilibrium(or disequilibrium) among the constituent minerals in the garnet *** particular,garnet is not in oxygen isotope equilibrium with any other of the analyzed *** degree of oxygen isotope disequilibria among the other minerals varies from pair to *** isotope equilibrium is observed only between orthopyroxene and olivine for both samples and between phlogopite and clinopyroxene for one *** appears that the U-Pb,Rb-Sr,Sm-Nd,and O isotope systems in minerals of the garnet peridotite are in partial equilibrium during UHP metamor-phism, i.e.,equilibrium with respect to some isotopes and minerals,but not *** on available experimental diffusion data,our study of the combined U-Pb,Rb-Sr,Sm-Nd,and O isotope systems in the gamet peridotite demonstrates that the time scale for the UHP metamorphism and subsequent HP eclogite-facies recrystallization is possibly in the range of about 12 to 26 Ma,which was not long enough for the reequilibration of the Sm-Nd and 0 isotope systems,but just long enough for the reequilibration of the Rb-Sr isotope ***,the rate of Sr diffusion in phlogopite (t
