.Pulsed Laser Deposition (PLD) is a powerful technique to grow thin films. Oxides, Magnetics and superconducting materials have been obtained by PLD and theirs properties are strongly dependent of deposition parameters. The construction of a simple and cheap PLD system that is suitable for growing various thin films, including magnetic materials, controlling some deposition parameters is presented. The design characteristics and construction are presented for each one of the devices that compose this PLD system. The equipment has the possibility of carrying out films deposition using up to five targets under controlled atmosphere and substrate temperature. The system also allows controlling the cool off sample time after growing up films at high temperatures. A wide range of relative speeds between target and substrate axial rotation can be externally controlled. With the configuration and the dimensions adopted in their construction, a PLD system of great experimental flexibility is achieved, at a very low cost regarding the commercial systems. To evaluate their performance and effectiveness, the deposition characteristics of a BaFe12O19 film on (0001) sapphire substrate is presented.

This paper aims to create visible light driven ternary photocatalysts using zinc oxide(ZnO),cerium(iv)oxide(CeO_(2)),and carbon xerogel(CX) as constituent *** use of CeO_(2) is based on the creation of direct-Z-scheme heterojunctions with the ZnO and the consequent diminishing of charge recombination,whereas the carbon xerogel inclusion is predicted to minimize bandgap energy,decrease electro n-hole reco mbination,and boost specific surface *** re,the choice of the black-wattle tannin as a carbonaceous precursor was targeted at the development of an environmentally friendly and affordable *** existence of the hexagonal phase of zinc oxide and cubic structure of the cerium(iv) oxide in the ternary material was confirmed by X-ray diffractometry and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,with the latter also suggesting chemical bonding between the ZnO and the CX due to the creation of zinc oxycarbide *** inclusion of the carbon xerogel provokes a significant modification in the morphology of the ternary material,resulting in an increased surface area and smaller particle *** CX/ZnO-CeO_(2) ternary composite obtains the highest photocatalytic efficiency among all the materials studied,degrading 100% of 4-chlorophenol under simulated sunlight and 68% under visible radiation,after 5 *** increased photocatalytic activity can be attributed to the formation of direct Z-scheme heterojunctions between the semiconductors,higher visible light response,and higher specific surface area,as evidenced by the results obtained by active radical scavenging,chronoamperometry,diffuse reflectance spectroscopy,and n_(2) adsorption-desorption isotherms.

Preparation and Characterization of Flexible, Transparent and Thermally Stable Aromatic Co-polyamides

Two aromatic co-polyamides were synthesized combining two diacid monomers containing bulky pendant groups, 5-(9,10-dihydro-9,10-ethanoanthracene-11,12-dicarboximido)isophthalic acid(DEAIA) and 5-tert-butylisophthalic acid(TERT), with 4,4′-(hexafluoroisopropylidene)dianiline(HFA) or 2,3,5,6-tetramethyl-1,4-phenylenediamine(Durene) by direct polycondensation. The structures of the obtained aromatic co-polyamides were confirmed by FTIR, Raman and 1 H-nMR. The co-copolyamide films, DHTH and DDTD, exhibited rms-roughness values between 0.94 and 1.60 nm, respectively. Moreover, they presented good thermal stability up to300 °C. Young's moduli of the co-polyamide films were between 4.1 and 4.3 GPa. X-ray diffraction results showed that the co-polyamide films were amorphous due to the incorporation of both bulky pendant groups, tert-butyl and dibenzobarrelene. The combination of bulky pendant groups provided intrinsically transparent co-polyamide films with a transmittance higher than 88% in the range of 400-780 *** to these outstanding film and optical properties, they are suggested to be flexible substrates in applications for solar cell and other portable electronic devices.

Fertilization is required for optimum plant growth, particularly in unfertile soils, while optimizing nutrient use effciency is an alternative to reduce inorganic fertilizer needs and reduce environmental problems caused by nutrient leaching. This study investigated soil properties and cowpea yield responses to biochars(BCs) made from different feedstocks, baby corn peel biochar(BC1), branches of mango tree biochar(BC2), and rice husk biochar(BC3), applied in combination with nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium(nPK) *** experiment was conducted in a greenhouse, using an acid sandy soil(Arenosol) that was submitted for 70 d to the following eight treatments: i) control;ii) full dose of nPK(a commercial compound fertilizer(12-24-12 of n-P2O5-K2O)+ urea(46% n));iii) BC1+ half dose of nPK;iv) BC1 + full dose of nPK;v) BC2 + half dose of nPK;vi) BC2 + full dose of nPK;vii) BC3 + half dose of nPK;and viii) BC3 + full dose of nPK. All biochars were applied at a rate of 0.9%(weight/weight), and each type of biochar was combined with half and full doses of nPK fertilizers. Soil pH increased significantly(P n treatments with BC1 and BC2,while cation exchange capacity(CEC) and available P were higher in the treatments with BC1;BC1 and BC2 also induced higher activity of enzymes related to the P cycle and higher cowpea yield. Similar soil properties and cowpea yield parameters were obtained with the full and half doses of nPK fertilizers for each type of biochar used. In conclusion, biochars in the combination with nPK fertilizers improved soil chemistry and enzymatic activities, allowing reduced fertilizer application and food production costs in the acid soil studied.

＜正＞VASA is an important member of DEAD-box family,and it is one of the important regulatory factors which determine the development of reproductive *** order to gain a better understanding of the function of vasa gene in Scylla paramamosain（Sp-vasa） during gonadal development and gametogenesis,a full-length（2 851 bp） Sp-vasa encoding 631 amino acids with an estimated molecular weight of 68.756 kDa of Sp-vasa was cloned. DEAD family proteins have nine conserved regions including AQTGSGKT（I）,PTRELA（Ia）,TPGRI（Ib）,DEAD （II）,SAT（III）,LVFVE（iv）,RGLD（V）,HRIGRTGR（VI） and xYxxPTPVQ（Q）.In Sp-vasa,seven of the nine regions are conserved exactly,while two regions contain modifications:TPGRI becomes TPGKL and xYxxPTPVQ becomes ***-quantitative PCR and quantitative real-time PCR showed that Sp-vasa was specifically expressed in testis and ovary,like vasa genes previously reported in other ***,the gonad maturation was staged by GSI（gonadosomatic index）,and the expression level of Sp-vasa in the growth stage of ovaries was higher than in the maturation stage of ovaries as well as in the *** in situ hybridization,during oogenesis Sp-vasa mRnA were detected in the large part of oocytes in stage I,nucleus zone in stage III and perinuclear zone in stage ***,in stage I and III,the signals of Sp-vasa were significantly higher than in stage *** spermatogenesis,the hybridization intensity of Sp-vasa gene gradually increased from spermatogonia to spermatids, however,no hybridization signal was detected in *** differences of Sp-vasa mRnA expression in the different stages in gonadal development and gametogenesis suggest that Sp-vasa gene plays an important role in the reproductive process.
