In this study,vine pruning wastes(VPW)were used as raw material to develop an alternative activated carbon(VPW-AC)for adsorbing and concentrating rare earth elements cerium(Ce(Ⅲ))and lanthanum(La(Ⅲ))from synthetic and real leachate *** Ce and La adsorption studies evaluated the effects of VPW-AC dosage,pH,contact time,rare earth initial concentration,and *** VPW-AC adsorbent was subjected to many physicochemical characterization methods to correlate and understand its adsorptive *** characterization data indicate a carbonaceous adsorbent with a specific surface area of 467 m^(2)/*** potential indicates a material with a negatively charged surface at a pH higher than 3.1,which is extremely beneficial to cations *** both rare earths elements(REEs),the adsorption capacity increases with the increase of the pH,reaching its maximum at pH *** kinetic data are well fitted by Avrami-fractional o rder,while the Liu model agreeably fits equilibrium *** maximum adsorption capacities for Ce(Ⅲ)and La(Ⅲ)are 48.45 and 53.65 mg/g at 298 K,*** thermodynamic studies suggest that the adsorption process is favorable,spontaneous,and exothermic for both *** filling,surface complexation,and ion exchange are the dominant ***,the VPW-AC was subjected to the recovery of REEs from real phosphogypsum leachate,and it is proved that it can be successfully used to recover REEs in a real process.

Background: Colles’ fracture is a type of fracture of the distal third of the radius and its most common cause is falling from patient’s own height and, epidemiologically, it is more common in the elderly. Objectives: The main objective of this study is to analyze the epidemiology of Colles’ fracture retrospectively, in patients admitted to Fernandes Távora Hospital. Materials and Methods: This retrospective study conducted at the Fernandes Távora Hospital used 1030 radiographic images of patients with wrist fractures. Results: (After a careful analysis) It was found that this type of fracture occurred with a greater frequency in age groups of 50 to 69, 60 to 69, and 40 to 49 years old, which corresponds to 59.5% of patients and the most affected sex were females (51.1%). Conclusion: The study concluded that this type of bone injury is more common in people aged 40 to 69 years old, especially in women, because of their geometry and bone composition. It is evident that Colles’ fracture impacts the life of the affected person, therefore, an adequate diagnosis and treatment having utmost importance.

AIM:To investigate the effect of quercetin supplementation on the myenteric neurons and glia in the cecum of diabetic ***:Total preparations of the muscular tunic were prepared from the ceca of twenty-four rats divided into the following groups:control(C),control supplemented with quercetin(200 mg/kg quercetin body weight)(CQ),diabetic(D)and diabetic supplemented with quercetin(DQ).Immunohistochemical double staining technique was performed with HuC/D(general population)/nitric oxide synthase(nNOS),HuC-D/S-100and *** analysis of the general neuronal population HuC/D-IR,the nNOS-IR(nitrergic subpopulation)and the enteric glial cells(S-100)was performed,and the morphometry and the reduction in varicosity population(VIP-IR)in these populations were ***:Diabetes promoted a significant reduction(25%)in the neuronal density of the HuC/D-IR(general population)and the nNOS-IR(nitrergic subpopulation)compared with the C *** also significantly increased the areas of neurons,glial cells and VIP-IR *** with quercetin in the DQ group prevented neuronal loss in the general population and increased its area(Pgic subpopulation(Pglial cells areas(Pgroup when compared to C,CQ and D ***:In diabetes,quercetin exhibited a neuroprotective effect by maintaining the density of the general neuronal population but did not affect the density of the nNOS subpopulation.

This critical review of the literature shows that there is a close link between the microbiome,the gut,and the brain in Parkinson's *** vagus nerve,the main component of the parasympathetic nervous system,is involved in the regulation of immune response,digestion,heart rate,and control of *** can detect microbiota metabolites through its afferents,transferring this gut information to the central nervous *** and clinical studies have shown the important role played by the gut microbiome and gut-related factors in disease development and progression,as well as treatment *** findings suggest that the gut microbiome may be a valuable target for new therapeutic strategies for Parkinson's *** studies are needed to better understand the underlying biology and how this axis can be modulated for the patient's benefit.

gastric cancer is considered one of the most deadly tumors worldwide. Even with the decline in its incidence, the mortality rate of this disease has remained high, mainly due to its late diagnosis and to the lack of precise prognostic markers. The main purpose of this review is to present genetic, epigenetic and proteomic molecular markers that may be used in a diagnostic and prognostic manner and to discuss the pros and cons of each type of marker for improving clinical practice. In this sense, we observed that the use of genetic markers, especially mutations and polymorphisms, should be carefully considered, as they are strongly affected by ethnicity. Proteomic-based markers show promise, but the higher costs of the associated techniques con-tinue to make this approach expensive for routine use. Alternatively, epigenetic markers appear to be very promising, as they can be detected in bodily fluids as well as tissues. However, such markers must be used carefully because epigenetic changes may occur due to environmental factors and aging. Despite the advances in technology and its access, to date, there are few defined biomarkers of prognostic and diagnostic use for gastric tumors. Therefore, the use of a panel of several approaches(genetic, epigenetic and proteomic) should be considered the best alternative for clinical practice.

Treatment of acute severe ulcerative colitis using accelerated infliximab regimen based on infliximab trough level:A case report

BACKgROUND Acute severe ulcerative colitis (ASUC) is a complication of ulcerative colitisassociated with high levels of circulating tumor necrosis factor alpha, due to theintense inflammation and faster stool clearance of anti-tumor necrosis factordrugs. Dose-intensified infliximab treatment can be beneficial and is associatedwith lower rates of colectomy. The aim of the study was to present a case of apatient with ASUC and megacolon, treated with hydrocortisone and acceleratedscheme of infliximab that was monitored by drug trough *** SUMMARYA 22-year-old female patient diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, presented withdiarrhea, rectal bleeding, abdominal pain, vomiting, and distended *** investigation, a positive toxin for Clostridium difficile and colonic dilatationof 7 cm consistent with megacolon were observed. She was treated with oralvancomycin for pseudomembranous colitis and intravenous hydrocortisone forsevere colitis, which led to the resolution of megacolon. Due to the persistentsevere colitis symptoms, infliximab 5 mg/kg was prescribed, monitored by drugtrough level (8.8 μg/mL) and fecal calprotectin of 921 μg/g (g/g). Based onthe low infliximab trough level after one week from the first infliximab dose, thepatient received a second infusion at week 1, consistent with the acceleratedregimen (infusions at weeks 0, 1, 2 and 6). We achieved a positive clinical andendoscopic response after 6 mo of therapy, without the need for a *** accelerated infusions can be beneficial in ASUC unresponsive to thetreatment with intravenous corticosteroids. Longitudinal studies are necessary todefine the best therapeutic drug monitoring and treatment regimen for thesepatients.

Background:Children with congenital heart disease(CHD),even after surgical approaches,and especially those who undergo staged procedures in theﬁrst months of life,remain vulnerable to readmissions and complications,requiring very close monitoring and differentiated intervention ***:Descriptive and exploratory study,of the experience report type,which presents the process of building the high-risk outpatient clinic for complex congenital heart diseases(AAR)at the Instituto do Coração(InCor).Results:Report of the path taken to structure the AAR,demonstrating the organization,interface with the multidisciplinary team,admission and discharge criteria,training,and patient proﬁ*** theseﬁve years of care,275 patients were treated,59.65%with biventricular interstage physiology,followed by univentricular interstage physiology(34.55%),residual defects after surgical procedures(3.63%),tumors with risk of mechanical obstruction(1.45%)and patients with an intrauterine approach(0.72%).The signiﬁcant number of critical patients who were successfully discharged from hospital(44.72%),the low mortality rate due to sudden deaths at home and the high adherence to follow-up cor-roborate the impact of this specialized ***:Despite the limitations of the study,this experi-ence report showed that with few resources,there is the possibility of organizing an AAR with differentiated care,with the objective of early detection and treatment of residual injuries,identiﬁcation of early interventions,edu-cation of parents for follow-up of their children,resulting in individualized treatment,promoting a better quality of life for this population.
