Background： Recent technological advances in genomics have allowed the genotyping of cattle through single nucleotide polymorphism（SNP） panels. High-density SNP panels possess greater genome coverage and are useful for the identification of conserved regions of the genome due to selection, known as selection signatures（SS）. The SS are detectable by different methods, such as the extended haplotype homozygosity（EHH）; and the integrated haplotype score（i HS）, which is derived from the EHH. The aim of this study was to identify SS regions in canchim cattle（composite breed）, genotyped with high-density SNP ***： A total of 687,655 SNP markers and 396 samples remained for SS analysis after the genotype quality control. The i HS statistic for each marker was transformed into pi HS for better interpretation of the *** BTA5 and BTA14 showed pi HS 〉 5, with 39 and nine statistically significant SNPs（P 〈 0.00001）,respectively. For the candidate selection regions, i HS values were computed across the genome and averaged within non-overlapping windows of 500 Kb. We have identified genes that play an important role in metabolism,melanin biosynthesis（pigmentation）, and embryonic and bone ***： The observation of SS indicates that the selection processes performed in canchim, as well as in the founder breeds（i.e. charolais）, are maintaining specific genomic regions, particularly on BTA5 and BTA14. These selection signatures regions could be associated with canchim characterization.

The metasedimentary sequence of the cushamen Formation in the western North Patagonian Massif is540 m thick and comprises six sedimentary lithofacies associations related to a glacimarine *** of these lithofacies represent distal glacimarine environments, whereas another one was deposited in proximal glacimarine environments, and the last includes subglacial environments. The organization and configuration of these lithofacies associations represent the advance and retreat of the glacier masses. The maximum glacial advance is correlatable with the G2 glacial interval of the Pennsylvanian Pampa de Tepuel, Las Salinas and Valley chico, formations of the Extraandean chubut, and the southern part of Neuquen cordillera. contemporaneously, in southern chile there are marine and glacimarine sediments. The chronostratigraphic relationships between the Silurian to Permian units allow five paleogeographic stages to be distinguished. The middle Silurian-late Devonian igneous rocks represent the first magmatic stage. The second stage, which is transitional to the first, is represented by a marine basin that includes the late Devonian-early carboniferous Esquel and Rio Pescado formations and the Llanquihue complex. The third stage(early-late carboniferous) includes granitoids of the second magmatic event that partially overlapped the first magmatic igneous belt. The fourth stage belongs to the late carboniferous sedimentation of the cushamen and equivalent formations. The extended early Permian magmatism was the last Paleozoic event in the studied area.

Intrahepatic vascular changes in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease: potential role of insulin-resistance and endothelial dysfunction

Metabolic syndrome is a cluster of several clinical conditions characterized by insulin-resistance and high cardiovascular risk. Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is the liver expression of the metabolic syndrome, and insulin resistance can be a frequent comorbidity in several chronic liver diseases, in particular hepatitis c virus infection and/or cirrhosis. Several studies have demonstrated that insulin action is not only relevant for glucose control, but also for vascular homeostasis. Insulin regulates nitric oxide production, which mediates to a large degree the vasodilating, antiinflammatory and antithrombotic properties of a healthy endothelium, guaranteeing organ perfusion. The effects of insulin on the liver microvasculature and the effects of IR on sinusoidal endothelial cells have been studied in animal models of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. The hypotheses derived from these studies and the potential translation of these results into humans are critically discussed in this review.

Pedicularis longiflora ***(Orobanchaceae)is an abundant parasitic herb mainly found in the Xiaopohu wetland of the Qinghai Lake Basin in Northwestern *** species has an important local medicinal value,and in this study,we evaluated the chemical profile of its stems,leaves and seeds using mass *** samples of stems,leaves and seeds were grinded,weighted,and used for a series of extractions with an ultrasonic device at room *** chemical profiles for each tissue were determined using Gas chromatography-Mass Spectrometry(Gc-MS)and Liquid chromatography-Mass Spectrometry(Lc-MS).Twenty-seven amino acids and organic acids were identified and quantified from stems,leaves and *** content of amino acids detected in leaves and seeds was higher than the amount found in *** fla-vonoids were also detected,including isoorientin,orientin,luteolin-7-O-glucoside,luteolin,apigenin and *** concentrations of luteolin-7-O-glucoside,luteolin and tricin were the highest and more concentrated in leaves,while that of orientin was the lowest and mainly found in *** monosaccharides and oligosaccharides below tetramer were also examined,and our analyses detected the presence of arabitol,fructose,galacturonic acid,glucose,glucuronic acid,inositol,sucrose,and *** is the first study to identify and quantify the main components of amino acids,organic acids,flavonoids and soluble sugars from stems,leaves and seeds of *** *** of the amino acids detected are essential for humans,highlighting the medicinal importance of this *** shown here can be used as a reference case to develop future studies on the chemical constituents of Pedicularis herbs and other medicinal plants from the Tibetan region.

Recurrent missense mutation of GDF5 (p.R438L) causes proximal symphalangism in a British family

Proximal symphalangism(SYM1B)(OMIM 615298) is an autosomal dominant developmental disorder affecting joint fusion. It is characterized by variable fusions of the proximal interphalangeal joints of the hands,typically of the ring and little finger,with the thumb typically being spared. SYM1 is frequently associated with coalition of tarsal bones and conductive hearing loss. Molecular studies have identified two possible genetic aetiologies for this syndrome,NOG and GDF5. We herein present a British caucasian family with SYM1 B caused by a mutation of the GDF5 gene. A mother and her three children presented to the orthopaedic outpatient department predominantly for feet related problems. All patients had multiple tarsal coalitions and hand involvement in the form of either brachydactyly or symphalangism of the proximal and middle phalanx of the little fingers. Genetic testing in the eldest child and his mother identified a heterozygous missense mutation in GDF5 c.1313G>T(p.R438L),thereby establishing SYM1 B as the cause of the orthopaedic problems in this family. There were no mutations identified in the NOG gene. This report highlights the importance of thorough history taking,including a three generation family history,and detailed clinical examination of children with fixed planovalgus feet and other family members to detect rare skeletal dysplasia conditions causing pain and deformity,and provides details of the spectrum of problems associated with SYM1 B.

Multiomic investigation of Sugarcane mosaic virus resistance in sugarcane

Sugarcane mosaic virus(ScMV)is the main etiological agent of sugarcane mosaic disease,which affects sugarcane and other grass *** the extensive characterization of quantitative trait loci controlling resistance to ScMV in maize,the genetic basis of this trait in sugarcane is largely ***,a genome-wide association study was performed and machine learning coupled with feature selection was used for genomic prediction of resistance to ScMV in a diverse sugarcane *** single-nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)explained up to 29.9%of the observed phenotypic variance and a 73-SNP set predicted resistance with high accuracy,precision,recall,and F1 scores(the harmonic mean of precision and recall).Both marker sets were validated in additional sugarcane genotypes,in which the SNPs explained up to 23.6%of the phenotypic variation and predicted resistance with a maximum accuracy of 69.1%.Synteny analyses suggested that the gene responsible for the majority of ScMV resistance in maize is absent in sugarcane,explaining why this major resistance source has not been identified in this ***,using sugarcane RNA-Seq data,markers associated with resistance to ScMV were annotated,and a gene coexpression network was constructed to identify the predicted biological processes involved in *** network allowed the identification of candidate resistance genes and confirmed the involvement of stress responses,photosynthesis,and the regulation of transcription and translation in resistance to *** results provide a practical marker-assisted breeding approach for sugarcane and identify target genes for future studies of ScMV resistance.

Dogs have been under strong artificial selection as a consequence of their relationship with man. Differences between breeds are evident that could be reflected in seminal characteristics. The present study was to evaluate differences in sperm head morphometry between seven well-defined breeds of dog： the British Bulldog, chihuahua, German Shepherd, Labrador Retriever, Spanish Mastiff, Staffordshire Terrier, and Valencian Rat Hunting dog. Semen samples were obtained by masturbation and smears stained with Diff-Quik. Morphometric analysis （cASA-Morph） produced four size and four shape parameters. Length, Ellipticity, and Elongation showed higher differences between breeds. MANOVA revealed differences among all breeds. considering the whole dataset, principal component analysis （PcA） showed that Pc1 was related to head shape and Pc2 to size. Procluster analysis showed the British Bulldog to be the most isolated breed, followed by the German Shepherd. The PcA breed by breed showed the chihuahua, Labrador Retriever, Spanish Mastiff, and Staffordshire Terrier to have Pc1 related to shape and Pc2 to size, whereas the British Bulldog, Valencia Rat Hunting dog, and German Shepherd had Pc1 related to size and Pc2 to shape. The dendrogram for cluster groupings and the distance between them showed the British Bulldog to be separated from the rest of the breeds. Future work on dog semen must take into account the large differences in the breeds＇ sperm characteristics. The results provide a base for future work on phylogenetic and evolutionary studies of dogs, based on their seminal characteristics.

Fluid flow simulation of industrial fixed bed mixed-flow grain dryer using k-ω SST turbulence model

The fluid dynamics analysis on industrial,mixed-flow grain dryers with fixed bed using computational techniques is necessary to assist the design of such equipment contributing to cost reduction in the dryer projects and agricultural drying operations that involve the production of grains in the *** study presents a computational Fluid Dynamic(cFD)solution for air flow analysis in an industrial *** air flow at the inlet and outlet of the dryer was investigated using the k-ωSST turbulence *** dryer region with soybean was considered as a laminar porous medium flow in the permanent and isothermal regime,having for the model a simplified geometry with the tower considered as a porous medium and the air inlet and outlet as a turbulent fluid *** flow was treated with a permanent and isothermal *** flow and pressures were used according to design *** validate the k-ωSST turbulence model,the velocity profile at the dryer inlet was obtained experimentally,which presented results with good agreement between the numerical and the experimental *** model obtained satisfactory results of the computational validation of the air flow in the dryer with good convergence requiring a minimum of computational effort,being suitable for the simulation of industrial-scale dryers,as to its air flow through a tower,operating with fixed bed soybean in the steady and isothermal regime.

3D extrusion of multi-biomaterial lattices using an environmentally informed workflow

The conventional building material palette has been proven limited in terms of adaptability to our current environmental challenges. Innovations in computational design and digital manufacturing have supported the broadening of biomaterial applications as an alternative. While biomaterials are characteristically responsive to stimuli such as temperature and humidity, their unpredictable behaviour is a hurdle to standardization and architectural utilisation. To examine the nexus between material formulation, computation and manufacturing, multi-biomaterial lattice structures were produced through an environmentally informed workflow. customized biomaterial development resulted in three candidate biopolymer blends with varying levels of hydro-responsiveness and transparency. The computational strategy included a machine learning clustering algorithm to customise results and dictate material distribution outputs. To test the workflow, environmental data of solar radiation exposure and solar heat gain from a specific location was used to inform the material deposition via pneumatic extrusion for the design and digital fabrication of a deformation-controlled prototype of 350 mm × 350 mm. This led to a series of multi-biomaterial wall panel components that can be applied at architectural scale. In future, these techniques can support the incorporation of living elements to be embedded within the built environment for truly animate architecture.
