AIM: To investigate the effects of bariatric surgery on metabolic parameters, incretin hormone secretion, and duodenal and ileal mucosal gene ***: Nine patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM), chronic serum hyperglycemia for more than2 years, and a body mass index(BMI) of 30-35 kg/m2 underwent metabolic surgery sleeve gastrectomy with transit bipartition between May 2011 and December2011. Blood samples were collected pre and 3, 6 and12 mo postsurgery. Duodenal and ileal mucosa samples were collected pre- and 3 mo postsurgery. Pre- and postoperative blood samples were collected in the fasting state before ingestion of a standard meal(520kcal) and again 30, 60, 90, and 120 min after the mealto determine hemoglobin A1c(HbA1c) levels and the lipid profile, which consisted of triglyceride and total cholesterol levels. Intestinal gene expression of p53 and transforming growth factor(TGF)-β was analyzed using quantitative reverse-transcription PCR. Gastric inhibitory polypeptide(GIP) and glucagon-like peptide-1(GLP-1)were quantified using the enzyme-linked immunoassay method and analyzed pre- and ***'s t test or repeated measurements analysis of variance with Bonferroni corrections were performed as ***: BMI values decreased by 15.7% within the initial 3 mo after surgery(31.29 ± 0.73 vs 26.398± 0.68, P < 0.05) and then stabilized at 22% at 6mo postoperative, resulting in similar values 12 mo postoperatively(20-25 kg/m2). All of the patients experienced improved T2 DM, with 7 patients(78%)achieving complete remission(HbA1c < 6.5%), and 2patients(22%) achieving improved diabetes(HbA1c< 7.0% with or without the use of oral hypoglycemic agents). At 3 mo postoperatively, fasting plasma glucose had also decreased(59%)(269.55 ±18.24 mg/dL vs 100.77 ± 3.13 mg/dL, P < 0.05)with no further significant changes at 6 or 12 mo postoperatively. This paper presents the erosion results of the AISI H13 steel impinged by resin-bonded silica sand, using a testing rig that closely simulates the real blowing conditions during industrial core-making. Steel specimens were heat treated to obtain hardness of 294, 445 and 595 HV200 (29, 45 and 55 HRC). Erosion tests were carried out at impingement angles from 20° to 90° and air drag pressures of 1.38, 2.07 and 2.76 bar (20, 30 and 40 psi). The main results are summarized as follows:(i) The harder material, the lower erosion;(ii) the maximum erosion rate is at 30°;(iii) Little difference in erosion rate at impact angle of 60° and 90° for a constant pressure tested regardless of the hardness level;(iv) As the pressure increases, so does the erosion rate, being more sensitive for low impact angles. Finally, a differential form of the general erosion equation is applied on a practical core-making case to evaluate the erosion rate of the H13 steel at 30° and 90° impingement angles.

In this work it presents a strategy to obtain the ozone solubility in water by gradient step method. In this methodology, the ozone in mixture with oxygen is bubbling in a reactor with distilled water at 21℃ and pH 7. The ozone concentration on gas phase is continually increased after the saturation is reached. The method proposed is faster than conventional method （isocratic method）. The solubility from the gradient method is compared with that values obtained from correlations founded in the literature.

Before a pathogen even enters a cell, intrinsic immune defenses are active. This first-line defense is mediated by a variety of constitutively expressed cell proteins collectively termed "restriction factors"(RFs), and they form a vital element of the immune response to virus infections. Over time, however, viruses have evolved in a variety ways so that they are able to overcome these RF defenses via mechanisms that are specific for each virus. This review provides a summary of the universal characteristics of RFs, and goes on to focus on the strategies employed by some of the most important RFs in their attempt to control human cytomegalovirus(HCMV) infection. This is followed by a discussion of the counter-restriction mechanisms evolved by viruses to circumvent the host cell's intrinsic immune defenses. RFs include nuclear proteins IFN-γ inducible protein 16(IFI16)(a Pyrin/HIN domain protein), Sp100, promyelocytic leukemia, and h Daxx; the latter three being the keys elements of nuclear domain 10(ND10). IFI16 inhibits the synthesis of virus DNA by downregulating UL54 transcription- a gene encoding a CMV DNA polymerase; in response, the virus antagonizes IFI16 via a process involving viral proteins UL97 and pp65(p UL83), which results in the mislocalizing of IFI16 into the cytoplasm. In contrast, viral regulatory proteins, including pp71 and IE1, seek to modify or disrupt the ND10 proteins and thus block or reverse their inhibitory effects upon virus replication. All in all, detailed knowledge of these HCMV counter-restriction mechanisms will be fundamental for the future development of new strategies for combating HCMV infection and for identifying novel therapeutic agents.
