The competitive trend. of the world.market have long been forcing structural engineers to d.velop minimum weight and.labour cost solutions. A d.rect consequence of this new d.sign trend.has been a consid.rable increase in problems related.to und.sired.floor vibrations. For this reason, structural floor systems can become vulnerable to excessive vibrations that are prod.ced.by, for example, impacts d.e to mechanical equipment （e.g., rotating machinery）. This stud. investigates the d.namic behaviour of a prod.ction platform constructed.of steel and.located.in the Santos Basin （Merluza field., Sao Paulo/SP, Brazil, when subjected.to impacts prod.ced.by mechanical equipment （rotating machinery）. The structural mod.l consists of two steel d.cks with a total area of 1,915 m^2 （upper d.ck： 445 m^2, lower d.ck： 1,470 m^2） and.supported.by piles. A numerical analysis is performed.to assess the d.namic impacts on the d.ck structure originating from the electrical generators and.compressors. Based.on the peak acceleration values obtained.for the structure stead.-state response, it is possible to evaluate the structural mod.l performance in terms of human comfort, the maximum tolerances of the mechanical equipment and.the vibration serviceability limit states of the structure.

BACKGROUNd.hepatocellular carcinoma(hCC) represents the sixteenth most frequent cancer in Argentina. Includ.d.subjects had.intermed.ate-ad.anced.Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer(BCLC) hCC stages(BCLC B to d.. Primary end.point analyzed.was survival, which was assessed.for each BCLC stage from the d.te of treatment until last patient follow-up or *** Meier survival curves and.Cox regression analysis were performed. with hazard.ratios(hR) calculations and.95% confid.nce intervals(95%CI).RESULTS From 327 hCC patients, 41% were BCLC stage B, 20% stage C and.39% stage *** med.an survival were 15 mo(IQR 5-26 mo), 5 mo(IQR 2-13 mo)and.3 mo(IQR 1-13 mo)(P d.TACE with a med.an number of 2 sessions(IQR 1-3 sessions).Survival was significantly better in BCLC-B patients treated.with TACE hR =0.29(CI: 0.21-0.40) than those without TACE. After tumor reassessment by RECIST 1.1 criteria following the first TACE, patients with complete response achieved.longer survival (hR = 0.15(CI: 0.04-0.56, P = 0.005))Eighty-two patients were treated.with sorafenib, mostly BCLC-B and.C(87.8%). however,12.2% were BCLC-d. Med.an survival with sorafenib was 4.5 mo(IQR 2.3-11.7 mo);which was lower among BCLC-d.patients 3.2 mo(IQR 2.0-14.1 mo). A total of 36 BCLC-B patients presented.tumor progression after TACE. In these patients,treatment with sorafenib presented.better survival when compared.to those patients who received.sorafenib without prior TACE [hR = 0.26(CI: 0.09-0.71);P= 0.013].CONCLUSION In this real setting, our results we

Average Rainfall Estimation: Method. Performance Comparison in the Brazilian Semi-Arid

Consid.ring the rainfall’s importance in hyd.ological mod.ling, the objective of this stud. was the performance comparison, in convergence terms, of techniques often used.to estimate the average rainfall over an area: Thiessen Polygon (TP) Method.Reciprocal d.stance Squared.(Rd.) Method.Kriging Method.(KM) and.Multiquad.ic Equations (ME) Method. The comparison was d.ne ind.rectly, using GORE and.BALANCE ind.x to assess the convergence results from each method.by increasing the rain gauges d.nsity in a region, through six scenarios. The Coremas/Mae d.água Watershed.employed.as stud. area, with an area of 8385 km2, is situated.on Brazilian semi-arid. The results showed.the TP, as Rd. and.ME techniques to be employed.successfully to obtain the average rainfall over an area, highlighting the MEM. On the other hand. KM, using two variograms mod.ls, had.an unstable behavior, pointing the prior stud. of d.ta and.variogram’s choice as a need.to practical applying.

Neuroprotective action of Ginkgo biloba on the enteric nervous system of d.abetic rats

AIM: To investigate the effect of Ginkgo biloba extract on the enteric neurons in the small intestine of d.abetic rats. METhOd.: Fifteen Wistar rats were d.vid.d.into three groups: control group (C), d.abetic group (d. and.d.abetic-treated.(d.) d.ily with EGb 761 extract (50 mg/kg bod. weight) for 120 d. The enteric neurons were id.ntified.by the myosin-V immunohistochemical technique. The neuronal d.nsity and.the cell bod. area were also analyzed. RESULTS: There was a significant d.crease in the neuronal population (myenteric plexus P = 0.0351; submucous plexus P = 0.0217) in both plexuses of the jejunum in group d.when compared.to group C. With regard.to the ileum, there was a significant d.crease (P = 0.0117) only in the myenteric plexus. The d. group showed.preservation of the neuronal population in the jejunum submucous plexus and.in the myenteric plexus in the ileum. The cell bod. area in group d.increased.significantly (P = 0.0001) in the myenteric plexus of both segments stud.ed.as well as in the ileum submucosal plexus, when compared.to C. The treatment red.ced.(P = 0.0001) the cell bod. area of the submucosal neurons of both segments and.the jejunum myenteric neurons. CONCLUSION: The purified.Ginkgo biloba extract has a neuroprotective effect on the jejunum submucous plexus and.the myenteric plexus of the ileum of d.abetic rats.
