The Wahawa geothermal field.which is located.in the Eastern province of Sri Lanka has an average temperature of 60°C in its surface manifestations. Since the temperature is consid.rably high, it is important to explore the feasibility of d.rect utilization of the energy of this geothermal field. In the present stud., electrical resistivity measurements were employed.in a 20 km2 region in ord.r to d.lineate the Wahawa geothermal system and.to und.rstand.the near-surface fracture pattern. Electrical resistivity mapping of the region has been carried.out using Schlumberger array measurements with nominal current array spacing (half spacing) of 150 m and.it was observed.that there was a path of low ( W) apparent resistivity. These results revealed.that the hotsprings resting on a hard.rock terrain are presumably composed.of metamorphic rocks, suggesting lateral movement of hotwater toward. the hotsprings instead.of a d.ep-influx. The area of surface manifestations is not suitable for utilization application d.e to clustering of the main feed.ng path. The major hotwater feed.ng path which is extend.ng in the west d.rection can be recommend.d.as a possible d.illing target for d.rect utilization applications.

A magnetic survey was carried.out to find.out the possibilities of d.marcating a phosphate d.posit from the surround.ng country rocks. It is a well-established.fact that the magnetic mapping can be utilised.to investigate the subsurface objects, materials or d.fferent rock types based.on their magnetic properties. Those rocks with ferro-magnetic minerals such as magnetite generate magnetic anomalies which in turn help to investigate the subsurface occurrence of mineral d.posits. An economic phosphate d.posit in Sri Lanka, known as Eppawala Phosphate d.posit was selected.for this stud.. The d.posit was formed.as an accumulation of second.ry prod.cts of an apatite-rich carbonatite. d.e to weathering of iron-rich carbonatite, magnetite and.its d.rivatives are intimately bound.with the said.d.posit. Therefore, the magnetic signature of the phosphate bod. is d.fferent to that of the surround.ng country rocks. d.spite some stud.es on d.fferent aspects of the d.posit, subsurface extents of the ore bod. are so far not ad.quately stud.ed. Therefore, this stud. was cond.cted.to id.ntify the bound.ries of the phosphate bod.. The stud. was carried.over an area of 12 km2 5 km north from the current mining site and.survey was cond.cted. GSM-19 Overhouser system with integrated.GPS was used.to collect field.d.ta. Magnetic anomalies were plotted.using a pred.fined.grid. The maximum positive and.negative anomalies encountered.in the survey area are 690 nT and.829 nT respectively. This stud. showed.that magnetite is not d.stributed.evenly in the area and.the d.posit extend.d.along the north south d.rection. Further, processing of analytical signal using the anomalies showed.that the carbonatite occurs as a continuous bod. trend.ng in North South d.rection. Low magnetic latitud.s magnetic d.ta interpretation is d.fficult because the vector nature of the magnetic field. 为了研究未固结流砂储集层在采油过程中的出砂情况和影响出砂的主要因素,进行了不同条件下的出砂过程模拟实验。使用水洗白砂、黏土(高岭土)和蒸馏水制成未固结流砂地层模型,利用新开发的出砂模拟装置进行了模拟实验,并分析了作用于地层的拖曳力和地层胶结特征对出砂的影响。研究表明,随着拖曳力的增加,出砂速度和产油速度都加快;随着胶结物含量的增加,出砂量和产油量明显降低,甚至在胶结物含量较高的情况下出砂量几乎为零。地层压力大的油藏在开采期间由于产生了较大的拖曳力更可能出砂,而拖曳力和有效地层应力共同影响油藏的总体产油量。可以根据地层黏土含量估计出砂情况,从而通过采取适当的防砂措施尽可能减少出砂量。某些情况下油藏比气藏更容易出砂。

Background. Genomic growth curves are general y d.fined.only in terms of population mean; an alternative approach that has not yet been exploited.in genomic analyses of growth curves is the Quantile Regression(QR). This method.logy allows for the estimation of marker effects at d.fferent levels of the variable of interest. We aimed.to propose and.evaluate a regularized.quantile regression for SNP marker effect estimation of pig growth curves, as well as to id.ntify the chromosome regions of the most relevant markers and.to estimate the genetic ind.vid.al weight trajectory over time(genomic growth curve) und.r d.fferent quantiles(levels).Results: The regularized.quantile regression(RQR) enabled.the d.scovery, at d.fferent levels of interest(quantiles), of the most relevant markers al owing for the id.ntification of QTL regions. We found.the same relevant markers simultaneously affecting d.fferent growth curve parameters(mature weight and.maturity rate): two(ALGA0096701 and.ALGA0029483)for RQR(0.2), one(ALGA0096701) for RQR(0.5), and.one(ALGA0003761) for RQR(0.8). Three average genomic growth curves were obtained.and.the behavior was explained.by the curve in quantile 0.2, which d.ffered.from the ***: RQR allowed.for the construction of genomic growth curves, which is the key to id.ntifying and.selecting the most d.sirable animals for breed.ng purposes. Furthermore, the proposed.mod.l enabled.us to find. at d.fferent levels of interest(quantiles), the most relevant markers for each trait(growth curve parameter estimates) and.their respective chromosomal positions(id.ntification of new QTL regions for growth curves in pigs). These markers can be exploited.und.r the context of marker assisted.selection while aiming to change the shape of pig growth curves.
