An experimental investigation of the crystallographic,Raman and transport properties of the Ce_(1-x)(Nd_(0.74)Tm_(0.26))_xO_(2-x/2)(0.1≤x≤0.6) doped ceria system was performed with the aim of setting out correlations between structural features and ionic conductivity of the *** chosen composition ensures that the average size of the Nd^(3+) and Tm^(3+) doping ions coincides with the one of Sm^(3+);even so,the studied system presents larger cell parameters and a wider compositional extent of the CeO_(2)-based solid solution than Sm-doped ***,the occurrence of two different activation energies to ionic conduction below and above ~750 K determines the existence of two distinct conduction *** described experimental results agree with the formation below the threshold temperature of1 V_O2 Tm'_(Ce) trimers,which promote the incorporation of Nd'_(Ce) isolated defects into the CeO_(2)-based solid *** the high temperature range the dissociation of trimers induces the appearance of a lower activation energy;the extrapolation of its value at infinite dilution provides a result in good accordance with the expected binding energy of 1 V_ORE'_(Ce) dimers,pointing at their stability even in the high temperature conduction regime.

Punching of reinforced concrete slab without shear reinforcement: Standard models and new proposal

Reinforced concrete(RC)slabs are characterized by reduced construction time,versatility,and easier space *** structural behavior is not straightforward and,specifically,punching shear strength is a current research *** this study an experimental database of 113 RC slabs without shear reinforcement under punching loads was compiled using data available in the literature.A sensitivity analysis of the parameters involved in the punching shear strength assessment was conducted,which highlighted the importance of the flexural reinforcement that are not typically considered for punching shear *** a discussion of the current international standards,a new proposed model for punching shear strength and rotation of RC slabs without shear reinforcement was *** was based on a simplified load-rotation curve and new failure criteria that takes into account the flexural reinforcement *** experimental database was used to validate the approaches of the current international standards as well as the new proposed *** latter proved to be a potentially useful design tool.

Pion parton distribution function in light-front holographic QCD

FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS OF A VERTICAL RECTANGULAR PLATE COUPLED WITH AN UNBOUNDED FLUID DOMAIN ON ONE SIDE USING A TRUNCATED FAR BOUNDARY

The dynamic pressure distribution on a rectangular plate attached to a rigid wall and supporting an infinitely large extent of fluid subjected to a harmonic ground excitation is evaluated in the time domain. Governing equations for the fluid domain are set considering the compressibility of the fluid with negligibly small change in density and a linearized free surface. A far boundary condition for the three-dimensional fluid domain is developed so that the far boundary is truncated at a closer proximity to the structure. The coupled problem is solved independently for the structure and the fluid domain by transferring the acceleration of the plate to the fluid and pressure of the fluid to the plate in sequence. Helmholtz equation for the three-dimensional fluid domain and Mindlin＇s theory for the two-dimensional plate are used for the solution of the interacting domains. Finite element technique is adopted for the solution of this problem with pressure as nodal variable for the fluid domain and displacement for the plate. The time dependent equations are solved in each of the interacting domain using Newmark-fl method. The effectiveness of the technique is demonstrated and the influences of surface wave, exciting frequency and flexibility of the plate on dynamic pressure are investigated.

Prediction of primary quality variables in real time with adaptation capability for varying process conditions is a critical task in process *** article focuses on the development of non-linear adaptive soft sensors for prediction of naphtha initial boiling point(IBP)and end boiling point(EBP)in crude distillation *** this work,adaptive inferential sensors with linear and non-linear local models are reported based on recursive just in time learning(JITL)*** different types of local models designed are locally weighted regression(LWR),multiple linear regression(MLR),partial least squares regression(PLS)and support vector regression(SVR).In addition to model development,the effect of relevant dataset size on model prediction accuracy and model computation time is also *** show that the JITL model based on support vector regression with iterative single data algorithm optimization(ISDA)local model(JITL-SVR:ISDA)yielded best prediction accuracy in reasonable computation time.

Smart mobility and public transport:Opportunities and challenges in rural and urban areas

Demographic changes in peripheral areas are pressuring the regional public transport systems to adopt innovative *** employment of internet of things(IoT)technologies has proven to be a valid response to mobility challenges in rural areas,and has brought up the concept of"smart land".Framed within the context of the Interreg Central Europe project RUMOBIL,this study tries to shed light on how the deployment of smart mobility solutions within the rural context compare to that within the urban *** a literature review,we compared the ease of implementation of different IoT solutions on the urban and the rural contexts,for planners,travellers,and operators,and the relative complexity of common smart mobility *** addition,we identified three major challenges for both rural and urban mobility,namely the need for standardized metrics for optimal routes’detection and a dynamic definition of optimal route,as well as the simplification of investments’planning and *** smart cities and smart land can benefit from smart mobility solutions,even if in most cases,each of the two contexts can gain more advantages than the other from the same *** considering the different levels of population scattering,technological infrastructures,social maturity,and economic opportunities,both rural and urban areas offer comparable *** the future of transport,it is up to all policy levels to consider the challenges deriving from expected trends and leverage the untapped potential of IoT technologies to satisfy future travellers’needs and ensure sustainability.

Sustainable livelihood security in Odisha, India: A district level analysis

Sustainable livelihood security(SLS) is an integrating framework that encompasses current concerns and policy requirements for ecological, social, and economic dimensions of sustainable development. It carries particular importance for developing economies. This study intends to verify the relative status of SLS of the 30 districts in Odisha, which is a backward state in eastern India. In this study, a total of 22 relevant indicators relating to the three components of SLS—ecological security, social equity, and economic efficiency have been taken, based on various kinds of government reports. The principal component analysis(PCA) was used to ascertain the indicators and the importance of each of them to the corresponding component of SLS. The ecological security index(ESI), social equity index(SEI), economic efficiency index(EEI), and composite sustainable livelihood security index(CSLSI) of each district of Odisha were calculated through the min-max normalization technique. The results revealed that there are wide variations in SLS among the districts of Odisha. In this study, the districts are categorized into four levels based on the scores of ESI, SEI, EEI, and CSLSI as very low(0.700). According to the classification result of CSLSI, 2 districts are found to be in the very low category, 20 districts are under the low sustainability category, 8 districts are in the medium category, and none of the districts are found to be in the high sustainability category. The district of Sambalpur ranks the highest with a CSLSI score of 0.624. The bottom five districts are Gajapati, Bolangir, Nabarangpur, Kandhamal, and Malkangiri, having the CSLSI scores of 0.438, 0.435, 0.406, 0.391, and 0.344, respectively. The result of this study suggests that region-specific, systematic, and proactive approaches are desirable for balanced development in Odisha. Genetic Relationship and Structure Analysis of Root Growth Angle for Improvement of Drought Avoidance in Early and Mid-Early Maturing Rice Genotypes

Deeper rooting 1(Dro1)and Deeper rooting 2(Dro2)are the QTLs that contribute considerably to root growth angle assisting in deeper rooting of rice *** the present study,a set of 348 genotypes were shortlisted from rice germplasm based on root angle *** results of the germplasm lines under drought stress identified 25 drought tolerant donor lines based on leaf rolling,leaf drying,spikelet fertility and single plant yield.A panel containing 101 genotypes was constituted based on screening results and genotyped using Dro1 and Dro2 *** software categorized the genotypes into four sub-populations with different fixation index values for root growth *** clustering analysis and principal coordinate analysis could differentiate the genotypes with or without deeper rooting *** dendrogram constructed based on the molecular screening for deep rooting QTLs showed clear distinction between the rainfed upland cultivars and irrigated *** genotypes,namely Dular,Tepiboro,Surjamukhi,Bamawpyan,N22,Dinorado,Karni,Kusuma,Bowdel,Lalsankari and Laxmikajal,possessed both the QTLs,whereas 67 genotypes possessed only *** average angle of Dro positive genotypes ranged from 82.7°to 89.7°.These genotypes possessing the deeper rooting QTLs can be taken as donor lines to be used in marker-assisted breeding programs.

Rethinking Global Context in Crowd Counting

This paper investigates the role of global context for crowd ***,a pure transformer is used to extract features with global information from overlapping image *** by classification,we add a context token to the input sequence,to facilitate information exchange with tokens corresponding to image patches throughout transformer *** to the fact that transformers do not explicitly model the tried-and-true channel-wise interactions,we propose a token-attention module(TAM)to recalibrate encoded features through channel-wise attention informed by the context *** that,it is adopted to predict the total person count of the image through regression-token module(RTM).Extensive experiments on various datasets,including ShanghaiTech,UCFQNRF,JHU-CROWD++and NWPU,demonstrate that the proposed context extraction techniques can significantly improve the performanceover the baselines.
