If substantial amounts of CO_(2),which according to actual scenarios may in the future be captured from industrial processes and power generation,shall be utilized effectively,scalable energy efficient technologies will be ***,a survey was performed to assess a large variety of applications utilizing CO_(2) chemically(e.g.,production of synthesis-gas,methanol synthesis),biologically(e.g.,CO_(2) as fertilizer in green houses,production of algae),or physically(enhancement of fossil fuel recovery,use as refrigerant).For each of the processes,material and energy balances were set *** with pure CO_(2) at standard conditions,expenditure for transport and further process specific treatment were *** on these calculations,the avoidance of greenhouse gas emissions by applying the discussed technologies was *** on the currently available technologies,applications for enhanced fossil fuel recovery turn out to be most attractive regarding the potential of utilizing large quantities of CO_(2)(total capacity>1000 Gt CO_(2))and producing significant amounts of marketable products on one hand and having good energy and material balances on the other hand(t_(CO_(2)-emitted)/t_(CO_(2)-utilized)evertheless,large scale chemical fixation of CO_(2)providing valuable products like fuels is worth considering,if carbon-free energy sources are used to provide the process energy and H2 being essential as a reactant in a lot of chemical processes(e.g.,production of DMe:t_(CO_(2)-emitted)/t_(CO_(2)-utilized)>0.34).Biological processes such as CO_(2) fixation using microalgae look attractive as long as energy and CO_(2) balance are ***,the development of effective photobioreactors for growing algae with low requirements for footprint area is a challenge.

Polyethylene hydrogenolysis over bimetallic catalyst with suppression of methane formation

Hydrogenolysis has been explored as a promising approach for plastic chemical *** metals,such as Ru and Pt,are considered effective catalysts for plastic hydrogenolysis,however,they result in a high yield of low-value gaseous *** this research,an efficient bimetallic catalyst was developed by separate impregnation of Ni and Ru on SiO_(2) support resulting in liquid products yield of up to 83.1 C%under mild reaction conditions,compared to the 65.5 C%yield for the sole noble metal *** carbon distribution of the liquid products from low density polyethylene hydrogenolysis with Ni-modified catalyst also shifted to a heavier fraction,compared to that with Ru ***,the NiRu catalyst exhibited excellent performance in suppressing the cleavage of the end-chain C–C bond,leading to a methane yield of only 10.4 C%,which was 69%lower than that of the Ru/SiO_(2) *** programmed reduction and desorption of hydrogen and propane were further conducted to reveal the detailed mechanism of low density polyethylene hydrogenolysis over the bimetallic *** results suggested that the Ni-Ru alloy exhibited stronger H adsorption properties indicating improved hydrogen coverage on the catalyst surface thus enhancing the desorption of reaction *** carbon number distribution was ultimately skewed toward heavier liquid products.

How the Brain Process Stimulus-Response Conflict? New Insights from Lateralized Readiness Potentials Scalp Topography and Reaction Times

Stimulus-Response Compatibility (SRC) refers to the fact that some tasks are performed easier and better than others because of the way stimuli and responses are paired with each other. To assess the brain responses to stimulus-response conflicts, we investigated the behavioral (accuracy and Reaction Times: RTs) as well as the physiological response (Lateralized Readiness Potentials: LRP) modulations in a positional blocked and a conditional mixed design in twelve university students. Results revealed that the performance was less accurate and the RTs, as well as the LRP onset, were delayed under the mixed conditional design. A greater compatibility effect was also noted on accuracy, RTs and LRP onset latency in the mixed design. Consistent with these findings, smaller peak activation at fronto-central areas suggests that more selective inhibition is needed in a mixed design context. Despite a smaller activation, the topographical distribution is similar in both designs. These results indicate that the translation time between stimulus- and response codes are greater under the mixed instruction, while the similar LRP topography suggests that common neural structures underlie LRPs in response to both type of designs.

endoscopic ultrasonography-guided fine needle aspiration:Relatively low sensitivity in the endosonographer population

AIM： To assess the characteristics and quality of endoscopic ultrasonography-guided fine needle aspiration （eUS-FNA） in a large panel of endosonographers.MeTHODS： A survey was conducted during the 13th annual live course of endoscopic ultrasonography （eUS） held in Amsterdam, Netherlands. A 2-page question- naire was developed for the study. Content validity of the questionnaire was determined based on input by experts in the field and a review of the relevant literature. It contained 30 questions that pertained to demographics and the current practice for eUS-FNA of responders, including sampling technique, sample processing, cytopathological diagnosis and sensitivity of eUS-FNA for the diagnosis of solid mass lesions. One hundred and sixty-one endosonographers whoattended the course were asked to answer the survey. This allowed assessing the current practice of eUS-FNA as well as the self-reported sensitivity of eUS-FNA for the diagnosis of solid mass lesions. We also examined which factors were associated with a self-reported sensitivity of eUS-FNA for the diagnosis of solid mass lesions 〉 80%.ReSULTS： Completed surveys were collected from 92 （57.1%） of 161 endosonographers who attended the conference. The endosonographers had been practio ing endoscopy and eUS for 22.5 4. 7.8 years and 4.8 4- 4.1 years, respectively; one third of them worked in a hospital with an annual caseload 〉 100 eUS-FNA. endoscopy practices were located in 29 countries, in- cluding 13 countries in Western europe that totaled 75.3% of the responses. Only one third of endosonog raphers reported a sensitivity for the diagnosis of solid mass lesions 〉 80% （interquartile range of sensitivities, 25.0%-75.0%）. Identification of Ca2+ signaling components in neural stem/progenitor cells during differentiation into neurons and glia in intact and dissociated zebrafish neurospheres

The development of the CNS in vertebrate embryos involves the generation of different sub-types of neurons and glia in a complex but highly-ordered spatio-temporal manner. Zebrafish are commonly used for exploring the development, plasticity and regeneration of the CNS, and the recent development of reliable protocols for isolating and culturing neural stem/progenitor cells(NSCs/NPCs) from the brain of adult fish now enables the exploration of mechanisms underlying the induction/specification/differentiation of these cells. Here, we refined a protocol to generate proliferating and differentiating neurospheres from the entire brain of adult zebrafish. We demonstrated via RT-qPCR that some isoforms of ip3 r, ryr and stim are upregulated/downregulated significantly in differentiating neurospheres, and via immunolabelling that 1,4,5-inositol trisphosphate receptor(IP3 R) type-1 and ryanodine receptor(RyR) type-2 are differentially expressed in cells with neuron-or radial glial-like properties. Furthermore, ATP but not caffeine(IP3 R and RyR agonists, respectively), induced the generation of Ca^(2+) transients in cells exhibiting neuron-or glial-like morphology. These results indicate the differential expression of components of the Ca^(2+) -signaling toolkit in proliferating and differentiating cells. Thus, given the complexity of the intact vertebrate brain, neurospheres might be a useful system for exploring neurodegenerative disease diagnosis protocols and drug development using Ca^(2+) signaling as a read-out.

effect of additives on mercury partitioning in wet-limestone flue-gas desulfurization
