Olfaction plays an essential role in insect behavior such as host location,foraging,mating,and *** odorant receptor co-receptor(Orco)is an obligatory odorant receptor and indispensable in odor ***,we characterized the Orco gene from the oriental fruit fly,Bactrocera dorsalis(Hendel),a notorious agriculture *** olfactory deficiency mutants were generated by editing the BdorOrco gene using the CRISPR/Cas9 ***(EAG)and olfactory preference assays confirmed that BdorOrco^(−/−)mutant flies had reduced perception of methyl eugenol,β-caryophyllene,and ethyl *** bioassays showed that the eggs laid by BdorOrco^(−/−)females mediated by benzothiazole and 1-octen-3-ol were significantly *** addition,BdorOrco^(−/−)mutant flies took a significantly longer time to locate the food source compared with wild type(WT)***,our data indicated that Orco is essential for multiple physiological processes in ***,and it expands our understanding of the function of insect Orco.

Natural organic matter(NOM)is known to play an important role in the transport and binding of trace metal elements in aquatic and soil *** is a pollutant for which the extent of the role played by NOM is poorly ***,this study investigates thallium(Ⅰ)and its complexation to a purified humic substance as proxy for *** were performed with the Donnan Membrane Technique to separate,for the first time,the free Tl^+ion from its complexed form in the bulk *** pH and concentrations were investigated at constant ionic strength and constant NOM proxy concentrations in *** results were described with NICA-Donnan *** complexation was compared to silver complexation using literature data and using the same NICA-Donnan *** for these two cations(Tl^+and Ag^+)are reported in this article,for the first *** display low thallium complexation to the NOM proxy while silver competes with divalent cations for the NOM binding *** speciation for dissolved thallium highlights the dominance of free thallium(Tl^+)in solution whereas Tl-NOM complexes contribute roughly 15%to total Tl(Ⅰ)species in river and lake type *** results are obtained for soil solutions,Tl-bound to NOMf total,from UK soils with different land use and geochemistry.

The present study investigates the association between subjective wellness symptoms,and categorical point-of-care(POC)blood biomarkers of the free oxygen radical test(fORT),and systemic inflammation through high sensitivity C-reactive protein(Hs-CRP),in English Premier League *** from 38 male professional elite athletes(Mean Age=25.8,SD=4.4)from the English Premier League were included in the study,with a total of 674 individual testing records collected over an entire Premier League season.A player wellness questionnaire,along with fasted and rested point-of-care blood biomarker testing were collected weekly across the *** wellness questionnaire collected subjective symptoms of illness and fatigue,while fORT and Hs-CRP were assessed through point-of-care analysis to highlight periods of excessive hydroperoxide production and systemic *** a chi square goodness of fit model,results showed that there was a significant association between the frequency of symptoms logged and categorical POC blood biomarker data of fORT and HsCRP(Pf the records demonstrating normal levels of Hs-CRP and fORT concentrations,27%logged symptoms with an average of 1.5 symptoms reported per answered ***,excessive biomarker values demonstrated 55%of records having symptoms logged,averaging 2.4 symptoms reported per record.

Defining the spatial extent of mountain areas has long been a challenge. In the present century, the availability of digital elevation models(DEMs) incorporated into geographic information systems(GIS) has allowed the definition of mountain areas based on topographic and other criteria. This paper presents the various delineations of mountains that have been prepared at three scales – global, regional(Europe), and national – and explores the reasons and processes leading to these delineations, and how they have been used. A detailed case study is then presented for Norway. Overall, two types of approaches to mapping mountains have been taken: first, considering mountains per se, based on elevation and/or topography; second, considering them among other categories, e.g., landforms or biogeographical, environmental or landscape zones. All attempts to map mountain areas derive essentially from the objectives of those commissioning and/or undertaking the work; a unitary definition remains unlikely.

Tribocorrosion is a degradation mechanism resulting from the interaction of mechanical(wear)and chemical(corrosion)*** interaction leads to surface damage that does not correspond to the simple sum of wear and corrosion taken *** tribocorrosion of material pairings thus requires the capability not only to control the mechanical and chemical test parameters but also to identify the relative contribution of corrosion and wear in the overall material *** paper describes a novel laboratory tribocorrosion test set-up combining in one experiment the control of mechanical input(load,velocity,and frequency)and output(friction and wear)parameters as well as the control of corrosion phenomena through a series of dedicated electrochemical methods(open circuit,potentiostatic and potentiodynamic measurements).The possibilities offered by this set-up are illustrated by selected case studies.

few global syntheses of oxygen and carbon isotope composition of pedogenic carbonates have been attempted,unlike marine *** carbonates represent in-situ indicators of the climate conditions prevailing on *** δ^(18)O and δ^(13)C values of pedogenic carbonates are controlled by local and global factors,many of them not affecting the marine carbonates largely used to probe global climate *** compile pedogenic oxygen and carbon isotopic data(N=12,167)fromCretaceous to Quaternary-aged paleosols to identify potential trends through time and tie them to possible controlling *** discrete events such as the Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum are clearly evidenced,our analysis reveals an increasing complexity in the distribution of the δ^(18)O vs δ^(13)C values through the *** could be expected,the rise of C4 plants induces a shift towards higherδ13C values during the Neogene and *** also show that the increase in global hypsometry during the Neogene plays a major role in controlling the δ^(18)O and δ^(13)C values of pedogenic carbonates by increasing aridity downwind of orographic ***,during the Quaternary,an increase of 3‰in δ^(18)O values is recorded both by the pedogenic carbonates and the marine foraminifera suggesting that both indicators may be used to track global climate signal.
