Olfactory ensheathing glia promote axonal regeneration in the mammalian central nervous system,including retinal ganglion cell axonal growth through the injured optic ***,it is unknown whether olfactory ensheathing glia also have neuroprotective *** ensheathing glia express brain-derived neurotrophic factor,one of the best neuroprotectants for axotomized retinal ganglion ***,we aimed to investigate the neuroprotective capacity of olfactory ensheating glia after optic nerve *** ensheathing glia cells from an established rat immortalized clonal cell line,TEG3,were intravitreally injected in intact and axotomized retinas in syngeneic and allogeneic mode with or without microglial inhibition or immunosuppressive *** and gene expression analyses were *** bulb-derived primary olfactory ensheathing glia and TEG3 express major histocompatibility complex classⅡ*** and syngenically transplanted TEG3 cells survived in the vitreous for up to 21 days,forming an *** axotomized retinas,only the allogeneic TEG3 transplant rescued retinal ganglion cells at 7 days but not at 21 *** these retinas,microglial anatomical activation was higher than after optic nerve crush *** intact retinas,both transplants activated microglial cells and caused retinal ganglion cell death at 21 days,a loss that was higher after allotransplantation,triggered by pyroptosis and partially rescued by microglial inhibition or ***,neuroprotection of axotomized retinal ganglion cells did not improve with these *** different neuroprotective properties,different toxic effects,and different responses to microglial inhibitory treatments of olfactory ensheathing glia in the retina depending on the type of transplant highlight the importance of thorough preclinical studies to explore these variables.

Germinal centers(GCs)are essential for the establishment of long-lasting antibody *** B cells rely on post-transcriptional RNA mechanisms to translate activation-associated transcriptional programs into functional changes in the cell ***,the critical proteins driving these key mechanisms are still ***,we show that the RNA binding proteins TIA1 and TIAL1 are required for the generation of long-lasting GC ***1-and TIAL1-deficient GC B cells fail to undergo antigen-mediated positive selection,expansion and differentiation into B-cell clones producing high-affinity ***,TIA1 and TIAL1 control the transcriptional identity of dark-and light-zone GC B cells and enable timely expression of the prosurvival molecule ***,we demonstrate here that TIA1 and TIAL1 are key players in the post-transcriptional program that selects high-affinity antigen-specific GC B cells.

If X is an Asplund space, then every uniformly continuous function on Bx＊ which is holomorphic on the open unit ball, can be perturbed by a w＊ continuous and homogeneous polynomial on X＊ to obtain a norm attaining function on the dual unit ball. This is a consequence of a version of Bourgain-Stegall＇s variational principle. We also show that the set of N-homogeneous polynomials between two Banach spaces X and Y whose transposes attain their norms is dense in the corresponding space of N-homogeneous polynomials. In the case when Y is the space of Radon measures on a compact K, this result can be strengthened.

Virtual Conductance Based Cascade Voltage Controller for VSCs in Islanded Operation Mode

Voltage source converters have become the main enabler for the integration of distributed energy resources in *** the case of islanded operation,these devices normally set the amplitude and frequency of the network voltage by means of a cascade controller composed of an outer voltage control loop and an inner current control *** strategies to compute the gains of both control loops have been proposed in the literature in order to obtain a fast and decoupled response of the voltages at the point of common *** paper proposes an alternative and simple methodology based on the introduction of a virtual conductance in the classic cascade *** strategy allows to design each control loop independently,obtaining a closed-loop response of a first-order *** this way,the gains of each control loop are easily derived from the parameters of the LC coupling filter and the desired closed-loop time ***,a state observer is included in the controller to estimate the inductor current of the LC filter in order to reduce the number of required measurements.A laboratory testbed is used to validate and compare the proposed *** experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposal both in steady-state and transient regimes.

Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest(OHCA)is one of the three leading causes of death in industrialized countries.[1,2]Some studies have described the impact of the first COVId-19 pandemic wave in terms of the number of cases and OHCA survival rates in various regions,[3-5]but few have addressed the relationship between the successive phases and how they affected OHCA.[6,7]The 14-d cumulative incidence peaked at more than 990 cases,with these rates remaining above 200 for an eight-month period between 15 march 2020 and 15 march 2021 in Madrid,Spain.

Tracking the change in Spanish greenhouse gas emissions through an LMdI decomposition model:A global and sectoral approach

The reduction of GHG emissions to reverse the greenhouse effect is one of the main challenges in this *** this paper we pursue two ***,we analyze the evolution of GHG emissions in Spain in 2008–2018,at both the global and sectoral levels,with the variation in emissions decomposed into a set of determining ***,we propose several actions specifically oriented to more tightly controlling the level of *** results showed a remarkable reduction(18.44%)in GHG emissions,mainly due to the intensity effect,but also to the production-per-capita *** detected somewhat different patterns among the various sectors *** the intensity effect was the most influential one in the agricultural,transport,and others sectors,the production-per-capita effect was predominant in the case of *** carbonization effect was revealed as crucial in the commerce *** above findings highlight the importance of the energy efficiency measures taken in recent years in the Spanish economy,also pointing to the need to deepen those strategies and to propose new measures that entail greater efficiency in *** efforts in areas like innovation,R&d,diffusion of more eco-friendly technologies,and a greater use of greener energies all prove to be essential reduction actions to fight the greenhouse effect.

Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease with a strong genetic background and is triggered by environmental *** evidence supports Cd6,a lymphocyte surface receptor mostly expressed by T cells,as a putative target in ***,a humanized anti-Cd6 antibody has been assayed for the treatment of certain autoimmune disorders,including ***,we present novel evidence in mice and humans for a direct involvement of Cd6 in psoriasis ***,an attenuated form of imiquimod-induced psoriasis-like skin inflammation was demonstrated in Cd6-deficient mice,as deduced from lower epidermal thickness and local reduced production of pro-inflammatory cytokines,namely,***,isolated Cd4+Cd62L+T cells from Cd6-deficient mice displayed decreased in vitro T-helper type 17 ***,a statistically significant association between Cd6 single-nucleotide polymorphisms(rs17824933,rs11230563 and rs12360861)and more severe forms of psoriasis was demonstrated in a cohort of 304 patients at three public hospitals from the metropolitan area of *** together,these results provide new supportive evidence of the contribution of the Cd6 lymphocyte receptor in psoriasis at both experimental and clinical levels.

Advantages of early cholecystectomy in clinical practice of a terciary care center

BACKGROUNd:despite a number of studies show the superiority of early over delayed cholecystectomy in the treatment of acute cholecystitis,there is still controversy over the time for *** study aimed to assess the use of early versus delayed cholecystectomy for the treatment of acute cholecystitis in terms of complications,conversion to open surgery and mean hospital ***:We collected patients with acute cholecystitis treated at a referral center for a year,and retrospectively analyzed the chosen therapeutic approach,the percentage of conversion of early cholecystectomy to open surgery,appearance of surgical complications,and mean hospital ***:The study included 117 patients,44 women and 73 men,who had a mean age of 67.36±15.74 *** cholecystectomy was chosen in 31(26.5%) and delayed cholecystectomy in 74 patients(63.2%).Of the 74 patients,28(37.8%) required emergency performance of delayed cholecystectomy,and 19(25.7%) had not undergone surgery by the end of the *** no differences were observed between early and delayed cholecystectomy in terms of surgical complications and conversion to open surgery,mean hospital stay was nevertheless significantly shorter in the early versus the delayed cholecystectomy group(8.32±4.98 vs 15.96±8.89 days).CONCLUSION:Under the routine working conditions of a hospital that is neither specially dedicated to the surgical treatment of acute cholecystitis nor provided with specific management guidelines,early cholecystectomy can reduce the hospital stay without increase of the conversion rate or complications.

Comparative transcriptomics reveals hidden issues in the plant response to arthropod herbivores

Plants experience different abiotic/biotic stresses,which trigger their molecular machinery to cope with them. Besides general mechanisms prompted by many stresses, specific mechanisms have been introduced to optimize the response to individual threats. However, these key mechanisms are difficult to identify. Here, we introduce an in-depth species-specific transcriptomic analysis and conduct an extensive meta-analysis of the responses to related species to gain more knowledge about plant responses. The spider mite Tetranychus urticae was used as the individual species, several arthropod herbivores as the related species for meta-analysis, and Arabidopsis thaliana plants as the common host. The analysis of the transcriptomic data showed typical common responses to herbivory, such as jasmonate signaling or glucosinolate biosynthesis. Also, a specific set of genes likely involved in the particularities of the Arabidopsis-spider mite interaction was discovered. The new findings have determined a prominent role in this interaction of the jasmonateinduced pathways leading to the biosynthesis of anthocyanins and tocopherols. Therefore, tandem individual/general transcriptomic profiling has been revealed as an effective method to identify novel relevant processes and specificities in the plant response to environmental stresses.

The current pressure on the built historical heritage requires a global evaluation to develop strategies for its preservation.A combined vision of the state of conservation of architectural heritage is essential to highlight the vulnerabilities of the structure from which harmonized measures can be proposed for its *** study proposes a multi-criteria analysis methodology that considers a qualitative and quantitative approach to organize the global conservation state of heritage buildings hierarchically.A global index can be determined on the basis of the generation of an interoperable data matrix by defining a set of indicators to assess different components of a *** index describes the risk with respect to the stability,safety,and habitability of the *** methodology aims to achieve the state of the building in an integral way by obtaining a simple and objective index that enables efficient comparison among different *** application of this methodology to a historic area allows creating a hierarchical map of risk to stablish priorities for intervention and enable a sustainable and critical management and planning over the actions of maintenance,conservation,and *** this way,a holistic vision of the complex reality of built heritage and the urban landscape is obtained to identify critical areas of priority intervention.
