We analyzed the allelic and genotypic frequencies of the glutathione-S-transferase P1 （GSTPI） rs1695 single nucleotide polymorphism （SnP） in 290 patients with multiple sclerosis （MS） and in 310 healthy controls. We found no significant association between the rs1695 variant and MS. Among MS patients, there was no relationship between the rs1695 variant and either gender, clinical type of MS or the age of onset of MS.

The pig industry in colombia has grown 30% in the last decade achieving high levels of technology and efficiency;in spite of that, respiratory diseases remain a constraint. Since 1970, serological evidence and histological findings suggested the role of swine influenza virus (SIV) as part of the porcine respiratory disease complex;nevertheless, elusive and molecular typing isolates are missing. This study was aimed at isolating SIV from intensive pig farms and to achieve molecular characterization to determine strains circulating in the field. In order to accomplish this goal, 242 samples were taken from nasal swabs, 25 from bronchial washes and 8 from lung tissue. Samples were collected during a period of three years, between 2008 and 2010 and were originated from 78 farms of the three main pig production regions of the country. The samples were transported in BHI broth with 2% antibiotic and antimycotic solution and stored at –70?C until processed. The swabs were inoculated in 9 - 11 days old embryo chicken eggs and in MDCK (Madin Darby Canine Kidney) cell cultures with the addition of trypsin. The isolates were identified by the HA (hemoagglutination) test and by RT-PCR targeting the HA (hemagglutinin), nA (neuraminidase) and M (Matrix) genes. Full length sequence of the HA and nA glycoproteins from four selected virus isolates was conducted (Macrogen?. USA). As a result, fifteen SIV isolates from nine farms distributed in the three regions were obtained. Twelve of the isolates are related to the swine origin H1n1 virus that caused the 2009 influenza pandemic. The remaining three viruses were related to classical swine influenza viruses.

Cyclin-dependent kinases 4 and 6(CDK4/6)inhibitors demonstrated activity in terms of progression-free survival(PFS)in advanced dedifferentiated liposarcoma(DD-LPS),a sarcoma with CDK4 ***4 overexpression is by far more common than amplification in sarcomas and it might be a rational target for CDK *** investigators of this study found that CDK4 overexpression,while not of CDKn2A,was the most consistent predictive factor for palbociclib efficacy in *** adult-type soft-tissue sarcoma,excluding DD-LPS,or bone sarcoma patients,progressing after at least one systemic line,whose tumors overexpressed CDK4,but not CDKn2A at baseline biopsy,were accrued in this single-arm phase II trial(EudraCT number:2016-004039-19).With the main endpoint of a 6-month PFS rate,40%was considered promising in this *** was administered orally at 125 mg/day for 21 days in 28-day cycles.A total of 214 patients with 236 CDK4/CDKn2A determinations were assessed for prescreening,archival material(141),and screening,baseline biopsy(95).There were 28(29%)with favorable mRnA profiles from 95 screened patients at *** 23 enrolled patients,21 evaluable,the 6-month PFS rate was 29%(95%CI 9–48),and there were 6 patients out of 21 with a PFS longer than 6 *** median PFS and overall survival were 4.2(95%CI 3.6–4.8)and 12(95%CI 8.7–15.4)months,*** research showed a significant correlation between CDK4 mRnA and protein *** was active in a variety of sarcoma subtypes,selected by CDK4/CDKn2A,and deserves further investigation in the sarcoma context.

Gangliocytic paraganglioma is a rare neuroendocrine tumor predominantly arising in the second part of the duodenum with rare local recurrence or metastasis to regional lymph nodes.A 92-year-old female presented with obstructive *** exam she had pale conjunctiva and icteric *** examination revealed tenderness in the upper *** data was consistent with obstructive *** tomography of the abdomen revealed a dilated gall bladder and a common bile duct(CBD)with no evidence of liver lesions or pancreatic head *** ultrasonography revealed a 1 cm isoechoic submucosal nodule at the periampullary area,dilated CBD(9 mm),a prominent pancreatic duct(4.1 mm)and a hydropic gall bladder with no *** retrograde cholangiopancreaticography was performed to relieve obstruction and showed a 1 cm periampullary mass which underwent an en-bloc snare *** analyses with immunohistochemical stains were positive for cytokeratin,synaptophysin,S-100 protein,neuron specific enolase and negative for actin and desmin consistent with periampullary gangliocytic *** gangliocytic paraganglioma is a rare benign tumor of the small *** presentation includes abdominal pain and obstructive jaundice which should be included in differential diagnosis of obstructive *** resection is a curative therapy in the absence of local invasion or distant metastasis.

Physicochemical and sensory characteristics of restructured meat of common carp （Cyprinus carpio） fortified with 0-8 g/100 g of chia seed flour （CSF） was evaluated. It had a higher nutritional value （higher fibre content and protein retention] （p 〈 0.05） and better cooking characteristics （higher cooking yield and moisture retention）（p 〈 0.05） than the control. The colour （a＊, b＊） increased; lightness and whiteness index decrease （p 〈 0.05）. Hardness increase （p 〈 0.05） occurred because of CSF addition. Differential scanning calorimetry showed that fibre fortification did not interfere with the thermal transitions of the restructured meat. no significant differences were detected with the preference test scores of 4% or 8% CSF compared with the control. Restructured （4%-8% CSF） had a higher content of fibre and fat, which could be linoleic and linolenic acid, and an increase in the content of protein compared with those of commercial products, among had 1.62 and 2.25 mg AGE/g. Therefore, the restructured properties of common carp were governed by CSF addition.

Background: Bladder and lung cancer are among the ten most common cancers in both genders. The nKG2D receptor and one of its ligands, MICA, are associated with smoking and susceptibility to both chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and lung cancer. Objective: We hypothesized that nKG2D-MICA system was associated with other smoking-related epithelial cancers such as bladder cancer. Design, Setting, and Participants: 70 cases of primary non-muscle invasive bladder cancer were screened for the MICA expression and CD8+, CD4+ and nK cell infiltration. Most patients (n = 55, 78.6%) were current or former smokers. Measurements: Tissue microarray (TMA) technology was chosen to evaluate MICA and tumor infiltrating lymphocytes in samples with confirmed bladder cancer. Kaplan-Meier curves and univariate Cox analysis was used to assess relapse, all-cancer mortality and specific bladder cancer mortality. Results and Limitations: MICA was expressed in most cancer specimens examined (i.e., 70%). Relapse of bladder cancer was not associated with the status of MICA expression (log rank p = 0.1123). nevertheless, a significant association existed between high MICA expression and bladder cancer mortality (HR = 0.25;CI95% = 0.06 - 0.97). Tumor infiltrating CD4+ and CD8+ lymphocytes were found in the majority (64%) of samples. Cells expressing the nKG2D receptor were found in only 3% of the samples. There was no linear function between nKG2D+ cells and number or ratio of CD4+ and CD8+ TIL. Conclusions: MICA is expressed in a significant proportion of bladder carcinomas. MICA expression associates with significant survival advantages in the face of both all-cancer and bladder cancer. The nKG2D-MICA system could represent a common mechanism involved in the immunopathology and natural history of bladder neoplasms.

利用双相流模型研究了中间包内非金属夹杂物从钢水去除,该模型基于质点速度测量学(PIV)方法和数学模拟。去除效率的分析与下面因素有关:中间包内流动控制装置(FCD)的布置、气泡和拉速。此数学二相模型包括气-液两相欧拉多流体模型和固体颗粒的拉格朗日轨迹。通过在双相水模型中的PIV测试和颜色示踪实验,完全检验了该模型的准确性。夹杂物去除率与粒度和FED布置无关。提高拉速可以降低中间包内微粒的平均滞留时间,并因此降低去除率。同样条件下,液体流中固体颗粒的耦合-分离现象完全依赖于他们的作用时间。模型中粒度为20至160mm的微粒作用时间是10～10。这种变化是受粒度和拉速影响。

During the hydrogenation process of vegetable, oils originates isomer with trans fatty acids (TFA). Various investigations have been made to know the effect of TFA on health and it has been reported in the literature that if they are consumed in large proportions increases low density lipoprotein causing an imbalance in cholesterol, which causes cardiovascular problems. As a result, some countries have legislated and regulated the TFA content in foods. The purpose of this work is to study the FA of the butters produced from hydrogenated vegetable oil (MV) and pure cow"s milk (MPV) with and without oxidation by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) spectroscopy. The butters were acquired at a local supermarket and oxidized at 200 oC by 30 min. Infrared Radiation (IR) measurements were carried out in the Attenuated Total Reflectance mode and in the region of 400-4000 cm-1. IR spectra of the two butters with and without oxidation present absorption bands around 968 and 3006 cm-1, which are characteristic of the functional groups trans and cis, respectively. The MV presented a greater intensity; in addition, it was more stable to heat treatment. With FTIR is possible to define precisely the peak associated with the functional group cis.
