v2551 Cyg:a pulsating star with enigmatic peculiarities

Intensive photometric and spectral observations of the variable star v2551 Cyg are *** light curve shape reveals that the target is a pulsating star, contrary to its previous classification as an eclipsing binary. The period and amplitude of the light curve, the amplitudes of color changes and the radial velocity curve of v2551 Cyg are similar to those of a high-amplitude δ Scuti variable. The target seems to pulsate with the fundamental mode. However, v2551 Cyg exhibits several important peculiarities：（i） the decreasing branch of its light curve is steeper than the increasing one;（ii） the radial velocity curve has a flat section in the phase range 0.7-1.2 and short increase of the negative radial velocity at phase 0.7;（iii） the rotational velocity is quite big for a HADS star;（iv） the Fourier coefficients of v2551 Cyg are quite different from those of HADS stars. The target classification is difficult due to these peculiarities.

BACKGROUND： Chronic hepatitis C virus （HCv） infection is associated with autoimmune phenomena and is often complicated by anemia. Circulating autoantibodies to endogenous erythropoietin （anti-EPO） have been detected in patients with chronic viral infections and were correlated to anemia. The present study aimed to determine anti-EPO prevalence in pa- tients with chronic HCv infection and investigate its possible association with anemia. METHODS： Ninety-three consecutive patients （62 males and 31 females） with chronic HCv infection, who had never re- ceived antiviral therapy or recombinant EPO, were enrolled in the study. Circulating anti-EPO were detected in the serum by using an ELISA assay. Quantitative determination of serum EPO levels was done by radioimmunoassay. HCv RNA viral load t and genotype sequencing were also performed. RESULTS： Circulating anti-EPO were detected in 10.8% of HCv-infected patients and the prevalence of anti-EPO was significantly higher in patients with anemia （19.4% vs 5.3%, P=0.040） compared to that in those without anemia. Compared to anti-EPO negative cases, anti-EPO positive patients had higher frequency of anemia （70.0% vs 34.9%, P=0.030）, lower EPO concentrations （median 16.35 vs 30.65 mU/mL, P=0.005）, and higher HCv RNA viral load （median 891.5x103 vs 367.5x 103 IU/mL, P=0.016）. In multivariate regression anal- ysis the presence of anti-EPO remained an independent predictor of anemia （adjusted OR： 14.303, 95% CI： 1.417-36.580, P=0.024）. EPO response to anemia was less prominent among anti-EPO positive patients （P=0.001）. CONCLUSIONS： Circulating anti-EPO are detected in a significant proportion of treatment-naive HCv-infected patients and are independently associated with anemia, suggesting a further implication of autoimmunity in the pathophysiology of HCv-related anemia.

In the present work, autonomous mobile robot（AMR） system is intended with basic behaviour, one is obstacle avoidance and the other is target seeking in various environments. The AMR is navigated using fuzzy logic, neural network and adaptive neurofuzzy inference system（ANFIS） controller with safe boundary algorithm. In this method of target seeking behaviour, the obstacle avoidance at every instant improves the performance of robot in navigation approach. The inputs to the controller are the signals from various sensors fixed at front face, left and right face of the AMR. The output signal from controller regulates the angular velocity of both front power wheels of the AMR. The shortest path is identified using fuzzy, neural network and ANFIS techniques with integrated safe boundary algorithm and the predicted results are validated with experimentation. The experimental result has proven that ANFIS with safe boundary algorithm yields better performance in navigation, in particular with curved/irregular obstacles.

Impact of chronic exposure to bevacizumab on EpCAM-based detection of circulating tumor cells

Background： Circulating tumor cells （CTCs） are often undetected through the immunomagnetic epithelial cell adhesion molecule （EpCAM）-based CellSearch~ System in breast and colorectal cancer （CRC） patients treated with bevacizumab （BEv）, where low CTC numbers have been reported even in patients with evidence of progression of disease. To date, the reasons for this discrepancy have not been clarified. This study was carried out to investigate the molecular and phenotypic changes in CRC cells after chronic exposure to BEv in vitro. Methods： The human CRC cell line WiDr was exposed to a clinically relevant dose of BEv for 3 months in vitro. The expression of epithelial and mesenchymal markers and EpCAM isoforms was determined by western blotting and immunofluorescence. To evaluate the impact of EpCAM variant isoforms expression on CTC enumeration by CellSearch, untreated and treated colon cancer cells were spiked into 7.5 mL of blood from a healthy donor and enumerated by CellSearch. Results： Chronic exposure of CRC cell line to BEv induced decreased expression of EpCAM 40 kDa isoform and increased expression EpCAM 42 kDa isoform, together with a decreased expression of cytokeratins （CK）, while no evidence of epithelial to mesenchymal transition （EMT） in treated cells was observed. The recovery rate of cells through CellSearch was gradually reduced in course of treatment with BEv, being 84% , 70% and 40% at l, 2 and 3 months, respectively. Conclusions： We hypothesize that BEv may prevent CellSearch from capturing CTCs through altering EpCAM isoforms.

Coal is one of the most popular sources of energy. However, it has a relatively low energy efficiency due to high humidity and a greater release of harmful substances during combustion. On the other hand, the coal reserve on earth is estimated at 500 years and the cost is relatively low. This causes the search for new ways of processing coal. One way to efficiently process coal, while reducing the humidity and content of harmful components is microwave treatment. The basic information for microwave exposure to coal is the temperature field. In this paper, an approximate-analytically nonlinear mathematical model for heating a flat coal mass is studied, provided that the absorbed microwave energy is removing by heat radiation and convection simultaneously.

The Concept of Information Support for Bi-oresource and Ecosystem Research in the North-West Pacific: Theory and Practical Implementation

The first part of the article provides an overview of the theoretical evidence, the main provisions, and the implementation strategy of information support for bioresource and ecosystem research in the north-west Pacific, which has been conducted over the past 20 years in the Russian Far East Research Institute TINRO-Center. In short, the concept consists of a combination of the following four assertions: 1) For the steady and sustainable development of the Russian Far East, the entire Russian Federation and the Asia-Pacific Region in general, environmental, food, economic, and other security is required, which cannot be achieved without the rational use of bioresources based on the ecosystem approach to the management of aquatic bioresources. 2) For the inventory, appraisal, monitoring, forecasting of the state of and management the natural water resources when applying this approach, statistically relevant quantitative information is required on the greatest possible number of constituents of marine biocenosis of the north-western Pacific for the longest possible period of time, which is only available at the TINRO-Center. 3) This valuable data should be organized into databases, based on which geo-information and other electronic information systems are prepared, and based on these map atlases and reference books on natural water resources, using automated workplaces created especially for this. 4) The resulting unique information support will be of great value not only for practical purposes, but also for science, both applied and fundamental. Next comes a summary of the many years of work on the practical implementation of this concept and the key achievements in this field obtained by the TINRO-Center by the end of 2015 are reviewed. At the end, some plans for the near future are outlined.

We present the explanation (in the frame of the established thermohydrogravidynamic technology) of the maximal magnitude M = 8.1 (according to the U.S. Geological Survey) of the strongest earthquake of the Earth occurred in Kermadec Islands, New Zealand on march 4, 2021 AD (during the considered range from October 27, 2020 to May 17, 2021 AD). This strongest earthquake occurred near the calculated date 2021.1 AD corresponding (in the frame of the thermohydrogravidynamic theory) to the local maximal combined planetary and solar integral energy gravitational influence on the internal rigid core of the Earth. To obtain this explanation, we have analyzed the strongest earthquakes of the Earth (according to the U.S. Geological Survey) occurred near the dates of the local maximal combined planetary and solar integral energy gravitational influences on the internal rigid core of the Earth.
