Periungual Capillaroscopy Findings in a Series of Patients with Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis(Wegener):An Observational Study

Introduction: Periungual capillaroscopy studies skin microcirculation. Its main indication is in the differential diagnosis of Raynaud’s phenomenon as well as diagnosis and prognosis of systemic sclerosis (SS). Many rheumatic diseases present characteristic capillaroscopic alterations, but little is known at present about the alterations in skin microcirculation of systemic vasculitis. Objective: Our main objective was to study the alterations in skin microcirculation by capillaroscopy in patients with granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA). The secondary objective was to evaluate the association of capillaroscopic alterations with systemic alteration. Material and Methods: We studied patients in our unit with GPA, and we collected demographic and clinical variables. Periungual capillaroscopy was performed on all patients, and always by the same investigator. Results: We reviewed 10 patients with a mean age of 55.7. They were predominantly women. We found capillaroscopic alterations in 8 of the 10 patients. Morphological alteration was the most common finding (62.5%), followed by bleeding (50%). We found no mega-capillaries or neovessels. These findings were not related to any specific organ system involvement. Discussion: The tortuous pattern with bleeding was predominant in our series, with lower capillary density, findings which were unrelated to any specific organ system involvement. A single study describes capillaroscopic alterations in GPA, detecting a high percentage (92%) of avascular areas, in contrast with the predominance of a twisting pattern and bleeding found in our study. Further studies are warranted to confirm these results.

The need to develop tailored tools for improving the quality of thematic bibliometric analyses: Evidence from papers published in Sustainability and Scientometrics

Purpose: The aim of this article is to explore up to seven parameters related to the methodological quality and reproducibility of thematic bibliometric research published in the two most productive journals in bibliometrics, Sustainability(a journal outside the discipline) and Scientometrics, the flagship journal in the ***/methodology/approach: The study identifies the need for developing tailored tools for improving the quality of thematic bibliometric analyses, and presents a framework that can guide the development of such tools. A total of 508 papers are analysed, 77% of Sustainability, and 23% published in Scientometrics, for the 2019-2021 ***: An average of 2.6 shortcomings per paper was found for the whole sample, with an almost identical number of flaws in both journals. Sustainability has more flaws than Scientometrics in four of the seven parameters studied, while Scientometrics has more shortcomings in the remaining three *** limitations: The first limitation of this work is that it is a study of two scientific journals, so the results cannot be directly extrapolated to the set of thematic bibliometric analyses published in journals from all *** implications: We propose the adoption of protocols, guidelines, and other similar tools, adapted to bibliometric practice, which could increase the thoroughness, transparency, and reproducibility of this type of ***/value: These results show considerable room for improvement in terms of the adequate use and breakdown of methodological procedures in thematic bibliometric research, both in journals in the Information Science area and journals outside the discipline.

Mechanical-Mathematical Modeling and Monitoring for Landslide Processes

Landslides are one of the most widespread and dangerous phenomena in the urbanized territories. In Moscow they affect about 3% of the most valuable territory, including churches and historical buildings located at high banks of the Moskva River. Recently the landslide activation occurred. Normal functioning of city infrastructure and implementation of effective slope protection measures require special landslide monitoring. Mechanical-mathematical model of high viscous fluid was applied for the landslide-prone slopes modeling. Equation of continuityand an approximatedNavier-Stockes equation f or slow motions in a thin layer were used. The results of modelling give possibility to define the landslide section with upmost velocity that should be monitored in the first place. Some important parameters used for numerical modelling can be defined from monitoring data.

The failure of insulators under DC voltages is due to various factors like thermal runaway,ion migration,anode growth,surface erosion,cement growth etc..However,the rate of failure is higher in polluted zones where surface erosion and puncturing of insulators due to ion migration can ***,insulators have to be subjected to accelerated aging tests to simulate ion migration and to check their capability to withstand the *** runaway is also an important *** carrying out Thermal runaway test at higher temperature,it may be possible to identify the good *** paper presents the work carried out in order to asses the quality of DC insulators by Thermal runaway tests,Ion-migration tests and the measurement of the body resistance of the *** voltage and temperature were varied during these tests in order to clearly identify the good *** result will be useful for the design of insulators for the HvDC transmission system.

Development Processes of Globular Microstructure

Semi solid metallurgy offers distinct advantages over other near-net-shape manufacturing processes. By this process, components are produced from slurry kept at a temperature between the solidus and the liquidus isotherms, resulting in breakdown of the dendritic structure. A new structure in which the morphology of the crystals of the primary phase is globular evolves. In this present paper, the importance of globular structure is identified. The theories of evolution of globular crystals in thixo–processing are identified and discussed.

Aging Behaviours of 8011 Al and 8011 Al/15% SiCp Composites

In this investigation, the effect of aging on the hardness and tensile behavior of 15% SiCp/8011 Al composites has been studied. The composites were manufactured through stir casting method. Cast ingots of the composites were hot extruded at 500°C. The composite samples were solution heat-treated at 530°C for 3 h and quenched in cold water. The aging temperature was 130°C, 150°C, 170°C, 190°C, and 210°C for aging duration of 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 hrs respectively. The mechanical properties measured included: tensile strength, yield strength and hardness values. The composites produced exhibited maximum mechanical properties at peak aged condition. These increases in mechanical properties during aging are attributed to the formation of coherent and uniform distribution SiC particles in the aluminum matrix composites. It was also observed that thermal modification plays an important role in retaining the ductility of composites. This result shows that a substantial improvement in mechanical properties has been achieved in the reinforced metal matrices produced after age-hardening.

Formation of Diffuse and Spark Discharges in Nonuniform Electric Field in Elevated Pressure Gases

Diffuse and spark discharges are formed and studied during breakdowns with nonuniform electric field in nitrogen,air,and argon at elevated pressures and pulse repetition frequency of 400 ***-polarity voltage pulses of the amplitude 20 kv,width at the base of 15 ns and rise time of 2 ns are applied to the electrode with a small radius of *** the conditions of generation of runaway electron beams and X-rays,a CCD camera records the time of the diffuse discharge formation and its duration prior to its transition to a spark *** all three gases,the diffuse discharge is formed during the time not exceeding 1 ns,when the bright spots appear on cathode in argon and air resulting in the beginning of the spark channel propagation.
