Reuse of port industrial heritage in tourist cities:Shipyards as case studies

The progressive deindustrialisation of many western cities since the 1980s has led to many industrial zones linked to port activities being abandoned or falling into *** such as Barcelona,Naples,Lisbon,Amsterdam,and Hamburg have port industrial complexes of high tangible and intangible heritage value that could totally or partially disappear,resulting in an irreparable loss of their scientific,architectural,social,technological,and historical *** that in mind,Adaptive Reuse(AR)of the built heritage allows the industrial memory of the ports to be preserved by turning them into new functional centres within the existing urban *** occurs in the context of the contemporary challenges of those cities,such as touristification,the circular economy and climate change,while guaranteeing the life cycle of those *** article analyses two case studies—the Nederlandsche Scheepsbouw Maatschappij(NDSM)and the Rotterdamsche Droogdok Maatschappij(RDM)shipyards,both in the Netherlands—in order to contribute to the knowledge of AR of Port Industrial *** are two examples of good practices in port industrial heritage interventions,where the factors behind their acclaim can be easily highlighted.A multi-scale methodology is therefore used and tailored to the case of port industrial heritage,based on analysing previous studies of the heritage in different spheres and on different scales.A relationship matrix tool is thus *** enables a comparative study to be conducted,using key variables and indicators,and considering qualitative and quantitative *** provides extensive output information for each case study,which is summarised in the most favourable factors for the success of the AR of this port industrial heritage.

Drug-induced liver injury(DILI)is a term used to describe an unexpected liver reaction to drugs,but also to herbal products and dietary supplements(HDS).In the current therapeutic armamentarium,only a small number of available drugs are still capable of causing liver damage in *** include,in addition to paracetamol-the prototypical example of this group-niacin(now rarely used to treat hypercholesterolaemia),intravenous methotrexate and probably ketamine(an intravenous hypnotic used in critically ill patients for rapid sequence induction)(1).

Idiosyncratic drug-induced liver injury(iDILI) encompasses the unexpected harms that prescription and non-prescription drugs,herbal and dietary supplements can cause to the *** remains a major public health problem and a major cause of drug *** the lack of biomarkers for iDILI prediction,diagnosis and prognosis,searching new models to predict and study mechanisms of iDILI is *** of the major limitations of iDILI preclinical assessment has been the lack of correlation between the markers of hepatotoxicity in animal toxicological studies and clinically significant ***,major advances in the understanding of iDILI susceptibility and pathogenesis have come from the study of well-phenotyped iDILI ***,there are many gaps for explaining all the complexity of iDILI susceptibility and ***,there is a need to optimize preclinical human in vitro models to reduce the risk of iDILI during drug ***,the current experimental models and the future directions in iDILI modelling are thoroughly discussed,focusing on the human cellular models available to study the pathophysiological mechanisms of the disease and the most used in vivo animal iDILI *** also comment about in silico approaches and the increasing relevance of patient-derived cellular models.

The number of alignments between two DNA sequences

We consider two DNA sequences and compare both sequences. One of the crucial issues in bioinformatics is to measure the similarity of two DNA sequences. To this purpose one has to consider different alignments between both sequences. The number of alignments grows very rapidly with the length of the sequences. In this paper we give exact, explicit and computable formulas for the number of different possible alignments and for some classes of reduced alignments. We provide a new insight into the theory of DNA sequence alignment.

Machine learning applied to road safety modeling:A systematic literature review

Road safety modeling is a valuable strategy for promoting safe mobility,enabling the development of crash prediction models(CPM)and the investigation of factors contributing to crash *** modeling has traditionally used statistical techniques despite acknowledging the limitations of this kind of approach(specific assumptions and prior definition of the link functions),which provides an opportunity to explore alternatives such as the use of machine learning(ML)*** study reviews papers that used ML techniques for the development of CPM.A systematic literature review protocol was conducted,that resulted in the analysis of papers and their *** types of models were identified:crash frequency,crash classification by severity,and crash frequency and *** first is a regression problem,the second,a classificatory one and the third can be approached either as a combination of the preceding two or as a regression model for the expected number of crashes by severity *** main groups of techniques used for these purposes are nearest neighbor classification,decision trees,evolutionary algorithms,support-vector machine,and artificial neural *** last one is used in many kinds of approaches given the ability to deal with both regression and classification problems,and also multivariate response *** paper also presents the main performance metrics used to evaluate the models and compares the results,showing the clear superiority of the ML-based models over the statistical *** addition,it identifies the main explanatory variables used in the models,which shows the predominance of road-environmental aspects as the most important factors contributing to crash *** review fulfilled its objective,identifying the various approaches and the main research characteristics,limitations,and opportunities,and also highlighting the potential of the usage of ML in crash analyses.

An earthquake called the MW7.2“El Mayor Cucapah”earthquake on April 4,2010 has been analyzed for seismic *** changes in the lineament system concerning its pattern and time intervals were analyzed during the earthquake preparation period and occurrence using the automated lineament detection *** Landsat 5 TM images were processed using LESSA and ADALGEO software obtaining similar *** statistical analysis revealed the stress accumulation due to plate interaction during earthquake *** study shows that the number of extracted lineaments changes rapidly about 23 months before the earthquake,and the systems return to the initial stage after 23 *** lineaments coincide with the extension of the San Andreas Fault as NW direction is the dominant ***,it can be concluded that the featural changes within the Rose diagram corresponding to the different strokes direction along with oriented elongation lines as disclosed in the present study using satellite images could be identified as a mid-term and/or short-term precursors of the ***,even though the dynamism of the El Mayor Cucapah earthquake is found in the extracted lineaments,it is possible to isolate more significant earthquakes even if new ones appear near the ***,using two algorithms for lineament detection allows for the tectonics to corroborate the obtained lineaments and dynamism.

Quality assessment of Continuous Operating Reference Stations(CORS)-GPS stations in Mexico

The present analysis provided the quality assessment of 65 Continuous Operating Reference Stations(CORS) situated in and around Mexico using the data of about ten years(january 2010 to january 2020).To accomplish the assessment,we considered 4 quality indexes for performing the quality check,incluing the multipath effect on L1 and L2 bands,signal-to-noise ratio in both bands,cycle slips,and ***,a new reference parameter named regio nal values for Mexico(RVM) was calculated for the stations situated in ***,an exhaustive analysis of the quality indicators in the worst and best cases was *** signal degradation was proved by a long-term time series and cru stal defo rmation analysis in GAMIT/GLOBK *** results showed a stro ng correlation between integrity,cycle slips and daily observations time,and the multipath effect is strong in the case of outdated *** study indicates that the estimated quality indexes and values could be the basis for establishing new CORS in Mexico,and the errors corrections which cannot be mitigated in the postprocessing stage would greatly help utilize the data for different scientific *** results were supported by deformation analysis in part of Baja California Peninsula in Mexico indicating northern and eastern velocity vector of -3.08±0.02 mm/yr,-7.85±0.02 mm/yr and-0.07±0.03 mm/yr,-9.33±0.02 mm/yr respectively at MPR1 and INEG stations.

The scientific literature presents a modest amount ot evidence m the use or complementary ana al[erna- tire medicine （CAM）. On the other hand, in practice, relevant results are common. The debates among CAM practitioners about the quality and execution of scientific research are important, Therefore, the aim of this review is to gather, synthesize and describe the differentiated methodological models that encompass the complexity of therapeutic interventions. The process of bringing evidence-based medicine into clinical practice in CAM is essential for the growth and strengthening of complementary medicines worldwide.

Background and objective The advances in the lung cancer screening methods and therapeutics,together with awareness towards deleterious habits,such as smoking,is increasing the overall survival with better quality of life for the ***,lung cancer is still one of the most common and fatal neoplasm with a high incidence and consequently burden to public health ***,based on guidelines and recent phasesⅡandⅢclinical trials studies,this manuscript summarizes the current treatment sequencing strategies in lung *** A comprehensive search of related articles was performed focused on phasesⅡandⅢclinical trials *** The lung cancer management should take into consideration the tumor characteristics,histology,molecular pathology and be discussed in a multidisciplinary *** cancer treatment options comprises surgery whenever possible,radiotherapy associate with/or chemotherapy and immunotherapy as monotherapy,or combined with chemotherapy and best palliative *** The screening predictability in more patients,smoking reduction,early diagnosis,better disease understanding and individualized,more effective and tolerable therapeutics are related to an increasing in overall survival and quality of *** the near future improvement of personalized therapy in precision medicine is expected,enhancing new predictive biomarkers,optimal doses and optimal treatment sequencing as well as anti-cancer vaccines development.
