AIM： To address the role of CD209 in celiac disease （CD） patients. Non-human leukocyte antigen （HLA） gene.ic factors in CD predisposition are poorly understood, and environmental factors like infectious pathogens may play a role. CD209 is a dendritic and macrophage surface molecule involved in pathogen recognition and immune.activation. Recently, a functional variant in the promoter of the CD209 gene.（-336A/G） has been shown to affect the transcriptional CD209 activity in vitro and it has been associated with a higher susceptibility to/or severity of infection. MeTHODS： The study population was composed of two case-control cohorts of 103 and 386 CD patients and 312 y 419 healthy controls as well as a pane. of 257 celiac families. Genotyping for the -336A/G CD209 promoter polymorphism was performed using a TaqMan 5＇ allelic discrimination assay. HLA-DQ was determine. by hybridization with allele specific probes. ReSULTS： Initially, the case-control and familial studies did not find any association of the -336 A/G CD209 gene.ic variant with CD susceptibility. However, the stratification by HLA-DQ2 did reveal a significant association of CD209 promoter polymorphism in the HLA-DQ2 （-） group （carrier A vs GG in DQ2 （-） vs DQ2 （＋） patients （P = 0.026, OR = 3.71）. CONCLUSION： The -336G CD209 allele seems to be involved in CD susceptibility in HLA-DQ2 （-） patients. Our results might suggest a possible role of pathogens in the onset of a minor group of CD patients.

expanding the Boundaries of the Chemical Space of DNA Methyltransferase 1 Modulators

DNA methyltransferase 1 (DNMT1), one.of the main epigene.ic targets, is involved in the duplication of the DNA methylation pattern during replication, and it is essential for proper mammalian development. Small molecule DNMT1 modulators are attractive for biochemical epigene.ic studies and have the potential to become drugs. So far, more than five hundred small molecules have been reported as DNMT1 inhibitors. However, only a limited number of DNMT1 activators have been disclosed because, at least in part, DNMT1 activators are typically regarded as ne.ative data in virtual screening campaigns or optimization projects. This manuscript aims to report the chemical structures and biological activity of small molecules that increase the enzymatic activity of DNMT1. Results of the biochemical experimental assays are discussed. It was found that small molecule activators have a large variety of chemical scaffolds but share pharmacophore features. Visual analysis of the chemical space and multiverse based on molecular fingertips supported that activators are structurally diverse. This is the first report of eight small molecules that increase the enzymatic activity of DNMT1 by more than 400% in an enzymatic-based assay. The outcome warrants further investigation of the epigene.ic activity of the compounds in a counter-screen assay, e.g., cell-based and in vivo context.

effect of calcination temperature on structural properties and catalytic activity in oxidation reactions of LaNiO_3 perovskite prepared by Pechini method

The study presented the preparation of the perovskite oxide LaNiO3 by the complex citrate method, paying particular attention to evolution of its formation from the amorphous precursor with varied calcination temperatures. The products obtaine. after heat treatment under air between 200 and 800 ℃ were characterized by X-ray diffraction （XRD）, thermogravimetric and differential thermal analysis （TG-DTA）, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy （FTIR）, SBeT measurements and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy （XPS）. The results showed the formation of a single phase with perovskite structure from ca. 550 ℃. Tests on the two catalytic oxidation reactions of C3H6 and CO over the system calcine. between mentione. temperatures were.e.amine. on the basis of characterization results and showed that optimum catalytic properties for such reactions we.e.achieved for the perovskite calcine. at 600 ℃. In turn, correlations between redox and catalytic properties were established on the basis of thermogravimetric temperature programmed reduction （TPR） analysis.

Hantavirus pulmonary syndrome is a severe cardio pulmonary disease transmitted to humans by sylvan rodents found in natural and rural *** transmission is closely linked to the ecology of animal reservoirs and abiotic factors such as habitat characteristics,season or climatic *** main goals of this research were:to determine.the biotic and abiotic factors affecting richne.s and abundance of rodent species at different spatial scales,to evaluate different methodologies for studying population of small rodents,and to describe and analyze an ecologically-based rodent management experience in a highly touristic area.A 4-year study of small rodent ecology was conducted between April 2007 and August 2011 in the most re.e.ant habitats of el Palmar National Park,*** involved a wide range of control and prevention measures,including poisoning,culling and habitat modification.A total of 172 individuals of 5 species were captured with a trapping effort of 13860 traps-nights(1.24 individuals/100 traps-nights).Five rodent species were captured,including 2 hantavirus-host species,Oligoryzomys nigripes and Akodon *** nigripes,host of a hantavirus that is pathogenic in humans,was the most abundant species and the only one.found in all the studied *** results are inconsistent with the dilution effect *** present study demonstrates that sylvan rodent species,including the hantavirus-host species,have distinct local habitat selection and temporal variation patterns in abundance,which may influence the risk of human exposure to hantavirus and may have practical implications for disease transmission as well as for reservoir management.

In this talk,I discuss our recent studies of three-hadron systems and the resonances found *** studies consist of solving Faddeev equations with the input two body interactions obtaine. from the chiral *** systems which we study are either made of two mesons and a baryon or of three *** motivation for these studies comes from the data on many baryon resonances,especially the one. with J ^π = 1/2 ^＋,which show a large branching ratio to the two meson-one.baryon decay *** addition to this,se.e.al ne. studies at BeS,BeLLe,BABAR etc.,claim the existence of ne. meson resonances which seem to couple strongly to three-meson systems,where mostly two out of the three mesons appear as a known ***,we have studied two meson-one.baryon systems with strangene.s =-1,0 and 1 and three-meson systems made of two-pseudoscalars and a vector *** we will show in this manuscript,we find many resonances which couple to three-hadrons.

Photocatalytic performance of K2Ti6O13 whiskers to H2 evolution and CO2 photo-reduction

K2Ti6O13 whiskers were synthesized by conventional sol-gel method, sono-chemical assisted and microwave assisted sol-gel method in order to obtain catalysts with different particle sizes and to modify their optical, textural and electrochemical properties. These modifications improved their photocatalytic activity for H2 evolution and CO2 photo-reduction. Long K2Ti6O13 whiskers prepared by ultrasound assisted sol-gel method are the most active photocatalysts for the hydrogen evolution reaction using pure water as reactant (U-SG, 10,065 μmol g^-1). In contrast, an opposite behavior was observed using a mixture of ethanol-water, where the highest activity was achieved by the shortest and less crystalline.K2Ti6O13 whiskers (C-SG, 3,2871 μmol g^-1). In case of CO2 photo-reduction, long whiskers that we.e.also prepared by the sono-chemical assisted sol-gel method were the most active to transform CO2 to formaldehyde, methane. methanol and hydrogen. The eFB value of this catalyst is located very close to the potential for formaldehyde production and favors the selectivity to this organic product.

Dynamically ge.e.ated N* resonances from the interaction of two mesons and a baryon

We have studied the ππN system and coupled channe.s by using of the Faddeev equations and two N* and one.△ states, all of them with JP =1/2+, have been found in the formalism as dynamically ge.e.ated states. In addition, signatures for a ne. N* resonance with JP =1/2+ are found around an ene.gy of 1920 MeV in the three-body center of mass system.

Supporting IrO2 and IrRuOx nanoparticles on TiO2 and Nb-doped TiO2 nanotubes as electrocatalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction

IrO2 and IrRuOx(Ir:Ru 60:40 at%),supported by 50 wt%onto titania nanotubes(TNTs)and(3 at%Nb)Nb-doped titania nanotubes(Nb-TNTs),as electrocatalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction(OeR),were synthesized and characterized by means of structural,surface analytical and electrochemical *** doping of titania significantly increased the surface area of the support from 145(TNTs)to 260 m2g-1(Nb-TNTs),which was significantly higher than those of the Nb-doped titania supports previously reported in the *** surface analytical techniques showed good dispersion of the catalysts onto the *** X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analyses showed that Nb was mainly in the form of Nb(IV)species,the suitable form to behave as a donor introducing free electrons to the conduction band of *** redox transitions of the cyclic voltammograms,in agreement with the XPS results,were found to be *** the supported materials presented bigger crystallite sizes than the unsupported one.,the total number of active sites of the former was also higher due to their better catalyst *** the outer and the total charges of the cyclic voltammograms in the range 0.1–1.4 V,stability and electrode potentials at given current densities,the preferred catalyst was Ir O2 supported on the *** electrode potentials corresponding to given current densities were between the smallest one. given in the literature despite the small oxide loading used in this work and its Nb doping,thus making the Nb-TNTs-supported IrO2 catalyst a promising candidate for the *** good dispersion of IrO2,high specific surface area of the Nb-doped supports,accessibility of the electroactive centers,increased stability due to Nb doping and electron donor properties of the Nb(IV)oxide species were considered the main reasons for its good performance.
