The pulsatile electroosmotic flow （PeOF） of a Maxwell fluid in a parallel flat plate microchannel with asymmetric wall zeta potentials is theoretically analyzed. By combining the linear Maxwell viscoelastic model, the Cauchy equation, and the electric field solution obtained from the linearized PoissomBoltzmann equation, a hyperbolic par- tial differential equation is obtained to derive the flow field. The PeOF is controlled by the angular Reynolds number, the ratio of the zeta potentials of the microchannel walls, the electrokinetic parameter, and the elasticity number. The main results obtained from this analysis show strong oscillations in the velocity profiles when the values of the elas- ticity number and the angular Reynolds number increase due to the competition among the elastic, viscous, inertial, and electric forces in the flow.

let f : S(e) → S(B) be a surjective isometry between the unit spheres of two weakly compact JB*-triples not containing direct summands of rank less than or equal to 3. Suppose e has rank greater than or equal to 5. Applying techniques developed in JB*-triple theory, we prove that f admits an extension to a surjective real linear isometry T : e → B. Among the consequences, we show that every surjective isometry between the unit spheres of two compact C*-algebras A and B, without assuming any restriction on the rank of their direct summands(and in particular when A = K(H) and B = K(H′)), extends to a surjective real linear isometry from A into B. These results provide new examples of infinite-dimensional Banach spaces where Tingley's problem admits a positive answer.

The concentrations of 16 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons（PAHs） were determined in surface sediment samples from nine sites located at the Iguau River Basin in the Metropolitan Region of Curitiba,Brazil to evaluate their distribution and *** total concentration of the PAHs was greater for sediments from highly urbanized areas,while the sediments from the Iraí environmental Protection Area（Iraí ePA） showed significantly low *** sediments from the Iguau and Barigui rivers were classified as highly contaminated,while those from the Cercado and Curralinho rivers were classified as moderately *** predominance of PAHs containing two to four aromatic rings in most of the samples suggested the direct input of raw sewage into the water resources ***[g,h,i]perylene,dibenzo[a,h]anthracene and indeno[1,2,3-cd]pyrene were predominant in sediments from the areas under the greatest urban and industrial *** correlation between thermodynamic stability and the kinetics of evolution presented by the isomeric pairs indicated that combustion is the predominant source of PAHs in the sediments because the combustion of fossil fuels affected most of the points evaluated,followed by combustion of biomass and eventually combustion of oil product *** general,the results showed that areas under strong urban influence,as well as the Iraí ePA,receive contributions of PAHs from similar sources.

Reduction in the activity of theα-amylases which hydrolyze starch and glycogen has been proposed for diminishing the incidence of obesity and *** plant extracts contain inhibitors ofα-amylases andα-glucosidases and several molecules with this activity have been *** present work attempts at investigating if several natural compounds(flavonoids and phenolic acids)that have been reported to be inhibitors of those hydrolytic enzymes can also inhibit starch absorption in *** starch tolerance test in mice was used for assaying starch absorption after administration of 100 mg/kg of five flavonoids(epicatechin,catechin,rutin,quercetin,naringenin)and five phenolic acids(gallic,syringic,vanillic,sinapic,ferulic),which are known in vitro inhibitors ofα-*** the flavonoids,only rutin inhibited starch absorption in mice,even though its effect was only 33%of that one found for the positive control *** the five phenolic acids tested only syringic acid produced a clear diminution in starch absorption,which was 47%of that one found with *** the other hand,other three phenolic acids,namely gallic,sinapic and ferulic acid,caused delay in the absorption of starch,which was characterized by a shift in the time peak of maximal blood glucose concentration,with no modification in the excess of glucose that effectively entered the *** at detecting eventual synergisms by administrating mixtures of flavonoids and phenolic acids were *** results recommend careful translation of in vitro data on the inhibition ofα-amylases andα-glucosidases to the in vivo conditions.

Cervical cancer is a worldwide disease that constitutes a significant public health problem, especially in developing countries, not only due to its high incidence but also because the most affected population comprises women who belong to marginalized socio-economic classes. Clinical and molecular research has identified immunological impairment in squamous intraepithelial cervical lesions and cervical cancer patients. Human Papillomavirus(HPV) has several mechanisms for avoiding the immune system: it down-regulates the expression of interferon and upregulates interleukin(Il)-10and transforming growth factor(TGF)-β1 to produce a local immunosuppressive environment, which, along with altered tumor surface antigens, forms an immunosuppressive network that inhibits the antitumor immune response. In this review we analyzed the available data on several deregulated cellular immune functions in patients with NIC Ⅰ, NIC Ⅱ and NIC Ⅲ and cervical cancer. The effects of immunosuppressive cytokines on innate immune response, T-cell activation and cellular factors that promote tumor cell proliferation in cervical cancer patients are summarized. We discuss the functional consequences of HPV e2, e6, and e7 protein interactions with Il-10 and TGF-β1 promoters in the induction of these cytokines and postulate its effect on the cellular immune response in squamous intraepithelial cervical lesions and cervical cancer patients. This review provides a comprehensive picture of the immunological functions of Il-10 and TGF-β1 in response to HPV in humans.

Objective: The measurement of phase angles is an important monitoring parameter and supplementation with omega-3 could promote benefits by modulating the electrical potential of membranes and increasing body cell mass. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of omega-3 fatty acid supplementation on the phase angle of people living with HIV/AIDS. Methods: In this study, 63 individuals of all genders who were undergoing outpatient follow-up and showed lipodystrophy due to highly active antiretroviral therapy were analyzed. Our sample consisted of two groups, one that received supplementation containing 2550 mg of omega-3/day (1080 mg of eicosapentaenoic acid and 720 mg of docosahexaenoic acid) for three months (n = 32) and another that underwent nutrition guidance (n = 31). Phase angle and body cell mass were assessed for both groups and compared at the beginning of research (T0) and after our intervention (T1) for each group separately. Results: Phase angle averaged 6.45° ± 1.06 SD. The comparison between T0 and T1 showed a significant increase in phase angle and body cell mass, whereas the guidance group showed a decrease in body cell mass at T1 in relation to T0, with a significant p-value. Variance in phase angle between moments showed significant values between T0 and T1 in the supplementation group for all genders. Conclusion: Omega-3 positively modulated patients phase angle and body cell mass, but we emphasize the need for other studies that can solidify knowledge about supplementation dosage and intervention time.

This research was designed to analyze the possible associations of Arg389 Gly ADRB1 and Trp64 Arg ADRB3polymorphisms in children with obesity.A cross-sectional study included 1,046 school-age Mexican participants（6-12 years old） from the cities of San luis Potosi and *** were classified as non-obese or obese according to their body mass index（BMI） percentile;obese children had a BMI≥95th percentile for sex and *** data were *** were detected using TaqMan qPCR assay.A logistic regression analysis was used to calculate the risk of obesity based on *** were found between groups where obese children had a significant increase in systolic and diastolic blood pressure,fasting plasma glucose,insulin,HOMAIR,lDl-cholesterol,triglycerides,and lower HDl-cholesterol compared with the normal weight group（P 〈 0.05）.The distribution of allele frequency in the population was Arg = 87.4 and Gly = 12.6（Hardy Weinberg equilibrium x^2= 3.16,P = 0.07）;Trp = 81.5 and Arg= 18.5（Hardy Weinberg equilibrium x^2 = 2.2,P = 0.14） for ADRB1 and ADRB3,*** though no different frequencies of Arg389 Gly polymoiphism between groups were found（P = 0.08）,children carriers of one Gly389,ADRB1 allele had a risk for obesity of OR = 1.40（95%CI,1.03-1.90,P =0.03） after adjustment for age and *** other association was found for Trp64 Arg ADRB3 *** the Arg389 Gly ADRB1 polymorphism was associated with risk for obesity in Mexican children.
