Forest practices in headwater catchments are related to environmental and social *** aim of this study is to analyse the changing protective functions of forests in the upper plain of the Jizera Mts.(north Bohemia,Czech Republic)since the second half of the 19th *** time,forests have gradually changed from native stands to spruce plantations(Picea abies),introducing exotic conifers(more resistant to air pollution),and,recently,back to more diverse mixed *** priority in pro-tective forest functions there shifted from flood protection to integrated control of water resources(quantity and quality).In the 1980s,forest-water interactions were degraded by consequences of extreme acid atmospheric deposition,forest die-back,and extensive *** the Jizerka catchment,first signs of recovery were observed in the early *** waters there are still affected by prolonged *** reconstruction of stream water chemistry at Jizerka follows the drop of the acid deposition in some 5 years,the revival of stream biota takes 10-15 *** 2071-2100,the pro-jected climate change shows rising annual air temperatures by 3.0-4.6℃,decreasing water yield by 65-123 mm,60%drop in'minimum residual discharge',and 20-30%rise in ***,these projected environmental changes cannot substantially decline the high potential in water resource recharge,or,start reverse processes in recent recovery from acidification and radically affect the exis-tence of planned mixed forests in the upper plain of the Jizera Mts.

The crystal and electronic structure of the Eu^2＋ doped and defect containing Sr2MgSi2O7 persistent luminescence material were studied using the density functional theory （dFT）. The defects may act as energy storage or even luminescence quenching centres in these materials, however their role is very difficult to confirm experimentally. The probability of vacancy formation was studied using the total energy of the defect containing host. Significant structural modifications in the environment of the isolated defects, especially the strontium vacancy, as well as defect aggregates were found. The experimental band gap energy of Sr2MgSi2O7 was well reproduced by the calculations. The defect induced electron traps close to the host＇s conduction band were found to act as energy storage sites contributing to its efficient persistent luminescence. The interactions between the defects were found to modify both the Eu^2＋ 4f^7 ground state energy as well as the trap structure. The effect of charge compensation induced by the rare earth co-doping on the defect structure and energy storage properties of the persistent luminescence materials was discussed.

Using the recently developed method we calculated the crystal field parameters m yttrium anct lutetium aluminum garnets doped with seven trivalent Krarners rare-earth ions. We then inserted calculated parameters into the atomic-like Hamiltonian taking into account the electron-electron, spin-orbit and Zeeman interactions and determined the multiplet splitting by the crystal field as well as magnetic tensors. We compared calculated results with available experimental data. Very good agreement with the spectroscopic data and qualitative agreement with experimental tensors was found.

The electronic structure of the strontium aluminate （SrAl2O4：Eu^2＋） materials was studied with a combined experimental and theo- retical approach. The UV-VUV synchrotron radiation was applied in the experimental study while the electronic structure of the non-optimized and optimized crystal structure were investigated theoretically by using the density functional theory. The structure of the valence and conduction bands as well as the band gap energy of the material together with the position of the Eu2＋ 4f7 85712 ground state were calculated. The calculated band gap energy （6.4 eV） agreed well with the experimental value of 6.6 eV. The valence band consisted mainly of oxygen states whereas the bottom of the conduction band of strontium states. In agreement with the experimental results, the calculated 4f7 8S7r2 ground state of Eu2＋ lies in the energy gap of the host. The position of the 4f7 ground state depended on the Coulomb repulsion strength. The position of the 4f7 ground state with respect to the valence and conduction bands was discussed using theoretical and experimental evidence available.

We describe the prevalence and treatment of glaucoma in a Muslim Arab population in Israel. Based on the medical records of 15 122 persons, the overall prevalence of glaucoma was 3.9%. Prevalence rates of primary open angle glaucoma（POAG） and primary angle-closure glaucoma（PACG） were 3.0% and 0.42%, respectively. Prevalence rates of women were 135% that of men considering all types of glaucoma, 143% for POAG, and 96% for PACG. Prostaglandin analogs and beta blockers, alone or combined with carbonic anhydrase inhibitors, were the preferred medications. Of 68 patients who underwent trabeculectomy, 27（39.7%） required medications, postoperatively, for treatment of glaucoma; following Ex-Press shunt surgery, 3/11（27.3%） required medications. during the last three years, 16（1.3%） individuals with POAG were recorded as legally blind as a result of glaucoma.

Levothyroxine is a drug with a narrow therapeutic *** the drug formulation composition or switching between pharmaceutical brands can alter the bioavailability,which can result in major health ***,the increased adverse drug reactions have not been fully explained scientifically yet and a thorough investigation of the formulations is *** this study,we used a non-targeted analytical approach to examine the various levothyroxine formulations in detail and to reveal possible chemical ***-high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with a data-independent acquisition high-resolution mass spectrometry(UHPLC-dIA-HRMS)was ***-dIA-HRMS allowed not only the detection of levothyroxine degradation products,but also the presence of non-expected components in the *** these,we identified compounds resulting from reactions between mannitol and other excipients,such as citric acid,stearate,and palmitate,or from reactions between an excipient and an active pharmaceutical ingredient,such as levothyroxine-lactose *** addition to these compounds,undeclared phospholipids were also found in three *** non-targeted approach is not common in pharmaceutical quality control *** the presence of unexpected compounds in drug formulations proved that the current control mechanisms do not have to cover the full complexity of pharmaceutical formulations necessarily.

Research of Mechanical and Thermal Properties of Composite Material Based on Gypsum and Straw

This article is focused on the investigation of the mechanical and thermal properties of composite material that could be used for the production of plaster or *** composite material is made of gypsum and reinforcing natural *** article verifies whether this natural reinforcement can improve the investigated properties compared to conventional plasters and gypsum plasterboards made of pure *** this composite material,high-strength plasterboards could then be produced,which meet the higher demands of users than conventional gypsum *** their production,natural waste materials would be used *** part of the development of new building materials,it is necessary to specify essential characteristics for their later use in civil *** wheat straw and three gypsum classes with strengths G2(2 MPa)—gypsum Class I.,G5(5 MPa)—gypsum Class *** G16(16 MPa)—gypsum Class *** used to create the test *** were made with different ratios of the two ingredients,with the percentages of straw being 0%,2.5%,and 5%for each gypsum *** first part of the article describes how the increasing proportion of straw affects the composite’s mechanical properties(flexural strength and compressive strength).The second part of the article focuses on the change of thermal properties(thermal conductivity and specific heat capacity).The last part of the article mentions the verification of the fire properties(single-flame source fire test and gross heat of combustion)of this composite *** research has shown that the increasing proportion of straw reinforcement caused a deterioration in the flexural strength(up to 56.49%in the *** of gypsum Class II.)and compressive strength(up to 80.27%in the *** of gypsum Class III.)and an improvement in the specific heat capacity and thermal conductivity(up to 31.40%in the ***).This composite material is thus not suitable for the production of high-streng
