First Late Triassic Record of a Paleoentomofauna from South America(Malargüe basin,Mendoza Province,Argentina)

Late Middle Triassic to early Late Triassic insects from Argentina have been previously described from the bermejo and Cuyana basins where they have been recovered from the Ischichuca-Los Rastros and Potrerillos-Cacheuta Formations, respectively. The insect fauna discussed herein was collected during field studies in 1986/1987 from the Llantenes section （Norian to Rhaetian？ Late Triassic）, which is situated in the Malargiie basin in southern Mendoza province. The insect remains were found in the upper part of the Llantenes section （Llantenes Formation）, which is built up of two coarsening-upwards cycles reflecting a deltaic progradation of a fluvial into a lacustrine environment （lower part）, succeeded by repeated progradatious into a floodplaindominated environment （upper part; with finds of insects, conchostracans, fish remains, plant fragments, and drifted logs）. The new finds represent the youngest Triassic insect records described from Argentina and even from South America in its entirety. There is only one contemporaneous fossil assemblage in Gondwana： in the Ciarence/Moreton basin （Aberdare Conglomerate; Late Norian） in Australia. The new Triassic insects include an impression of an isolated Mecopterida-like wing （Mendozachorista volkheimeri gen. et sp. nov.; Mendozachoristidae fam. nov.）, coleopteran elytra of the Permosynidae （Ademosyne rosenfeldi sp. nov. and Ademosyne Uantenesensis sp. nov.） and other isolated body fragments. This new Late Triassic entomofauna from Argentina is of considerable importance in the reconstruction of the biotic recovery of continental environments in Gondwana after the catastrophic mass extinction at the P/T boundary.

Group theory(GT) provides a rigorous framework for studying symmetries in various disciplines in physics ranging from quantum field theories and the standard model to fluid mechanics and chaos theory. To date, the application of such a powerful tool in optical physics remains limited. Over the past few years however, several quantum-inspired symmetry principles(such as parity-time invariance and supersymmetry) have been introduced in optics and photonics for the first time. Despite the intense activities in these new research directions, only few works utilized the power of group theory. Motivated by this status quo, here we present a brief overview of the application of GT in optics, deliberately choosing examples that illustrate the power of this tool in both continuous and discrete setups. We hope that this review will stimulate further research that exploits the full potential of GT for investigating various symmetry paradigms in optics, eventually leading to new photonic devices.

Development and screening of(Ca-P-Si-F)-PEO coatings for biodegradability control of Mg-Zn-Ca alloys

PEO coatings were developed on MgZnxCayalloys for biomedical applications using different treatment times and a novel transparent electrolyte containing Ca,P,Si and *** characteristics and chemical composition of studied materials were evaluated using scanning electron microscopy,X-ray diffraction and optical *** investigations were performed for uncoated and coated materials using potentiodynamic polarization,electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and hydrogen evolution measurements in three media(0.9wt.%NaCl,α-MEM and inorganic part ofα-MEM).Findings revealed that Zn-rich intermetallics favour the formation of large voids in the ***,P,F and Si are successfully incorporated into the *** consist of crystalline phases(Mg O,Mg F_(2)and Ca,Si-rich compounds)and amorphous *** and organic components ofα-MEM solution accelerate corrosion of the bare substrates but have no significant influence on the corrosion resistance of coated ***,inorganicα-MEM can be considered as an appropriate medium for fast screening of PEO *** relatively small amount of F content in the barrier layer facilitates early failure of the coatings,which show undercoating ***-rich intermetallic particles in the undercoating crevice induce a more aggressive corrosive environment and enhanced micro-galvanic couple effect with the Mg *** leads to faster degradation of the coated alloys compared to the bare substrates.

Phosphorylated Salicylic Acid as Flame Retardant in Epoxy Resins and Composites

A novel,versatile flame retardant substructure based on phosphorylated salicylic acid(SCP)is described and used in the synthesis of new flame retardants for HexFlowRTM6,a high-performance epoxy resin used in resin transfer molding processes as composite *** starting material salicylic acid can be obtained from natural *** as reactive phosphorus chloride is converted with a novolak,a novolak containing 9,10-dihydro-9-oxa-10-phospha-phenanthrene-10-oxide(DOPO)substituents or DOPO-hydroquinone to flame retardants with sufficient thermal stability and high char ***,these flame retardants are soluble in the resin as well as react into the epoxy *** determined thermal stability and glass transition temperatures of flame retarded neat resin samples as well as the interlaminar shear strength of corresponding carbon fiber reinforced composite materials showed the applicability of these flame *** resin samples and composites were tested for their flammability by UL94 and/or flame-retardant performance by cone *** tested flame retardants decrease the peak of heat release rate by up to 54%for neat resin samples.A combination of DOPO and SCP in one flame retardant shows synergistic effects in char formation and the mode of action adapts to neat resin or fiber-reinforced samples,so there is efficient flame retardancy in both ***,a tailoring of SCP based flame retardants is ***,these flame retardants efficiently reduce fiber degradation during combustion of carbon fiber-reinforced epoxy resins as observed by scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy.

Randomized controlled trial comparing open anterograde anatomic radical retropubic prostatectomy with retrograde technique

Objective:Radical prostatectomy is the recommended treatment for localized prostate cancer;however,it is an invasive procedure that can leave serious ***-assisted radical prostatectomy was introduced with the aim of reducing postoperative morbidity and facilitating rapid recovery compared to the traditional Walsh’s open radical retropubic ***,a protocol was developed to perform an open prostatectomy comparable to that performed by robotics,but without involving novel ***:A total of 220 patients diagnosed with localized prostate cancer underwent radical *** were divided into two groups:anterograde technique(115 patients)and the retrograde method(105 patients).The study outcomes were observed 3 months after ***:No differences were found in terms of surgical time,hospital stay,and suction ***,reduced bleeding was observed in the anterograde technique(p=0.0003),with rapid anastomosis duration(p=0.005).Among the patients,60.9% undergoing the anterograde technique were continent 3 months after surgery compared to 42.9%treated by the retrograde method(p=0.007).Additionally,fewer complications in terms of the number(p=0.007)and severity(p=0.0006)were observed in the anterograde ***:The anterograde method displayed increased efficiency in reducing complications,compared to the retrograde technique.

Glycosylation of N-hydroxy-pipecolic acid equilibrates between systemic acquired resistance response and plant growth

N-hydroxy-pipecolic acid(NHP)activates plant systemic acquired resistance(SAR).Enhanced defense responses are typically accompanied by deficiency in plant development and *** of extensive studies on SAR induction,the effects of NHPmetabolismon plant growth remain largely *** this study,we discovered that NHP glycosylation is a critical factor that fine-tunes the tradeoff between SAR defense and plant *** demonstrated that a UDP-glycosyltransferase(UGT76b1)forming NHP glycoside(NHPG)controls the NHP to NHPG ***,the ugt76b1 mutant exhibits enhanced SAR response and an inhibitory effect on plant growth,while UGT76b1 overexpression attenuates SAR response,promotes growth,and delays senescence,indicating that NHP levels are dependent on UGT76b1 function in the course of ***,our results suggested that,upon pathogen attack,UGT76b1-mediated NHP glycosylation forms a‘‘hand brake’’on NHP accumulation by attenuating the positive regulation of NHP biosynthetic pathway genes,highlighting the complexity of SAR-associated *** addition,we showed that UGT76b1-mediated NHP glycosylation in the local site is important for fine-tuning SAR *** results implicate that engineering plant immunity through manipulating the NHP/NHPG ratio is a promising method to balance growth and defense response in crops.

We study light propagation through cyclic arrays, composed by copies of a given PT-symmetric dimer, using a group theoretical approach and finite dement modeling. The theoretical mode-coupling analysis suggests the use of these devices as output port replicators where the dynamics is controlled by the impinging light field. This is confirmed in good agreement with finite element propagation in an experimentally feasible necklace of passive PT-symmetric dimers constructed from lossy and lossless waveguides.

Physical activity decreases in patients on the liver transplant waiting list and influences postoperative outcome-a prospective cohort study

background:Physical deconditioning affects patients suffering from end-stage liver disease(ESLD).Liver transplantation(LT)is the only curative option for *** evidence suggests that pre-habilitation is beneficial in reducing post-surgical morbidity and *** investigated physical activity(PA)in patients awaiting LT in a country with long waiting ***:Prospective,single center,longitudinal study in bern,Switzerland between June 2019 and February 2020(halted due to SARS-CoV-2 pandemic),with follow-up data up to six months *** were instructed to use a wrist tracker(Fitbit)to monitor PA,which was assessed using mixed-effects generalized linear *** study was approved by the local ethics committee(bASEC ID 2019-00606).Results:Thirty-five patients were included[71%male,median 59 years,body mass index(bMI)28 kg/m^(2),lab Model End-Stage Liver Disease(MELD)11],17(49%)pre-frail and 5(14%)frail according to the Liver Frailty Index(LFI).Twenty-eight patients underwent transplantation with 0 ninety-day mortality and 15(53.6%)composite adverse clinical *** daily steps were 4,661[interquartile range(IQR),1,685-8,609]and weekly moderate PA(MPA)was 41 min(IQR,0-127 min).Longitudinal analysis showed that female patients and patients on nutritional support had an increase in MPA between weeks 20 and 40.A significant decrease was seen in MPA after week 40,whilst no significant association was seen with age,Child-Pugh Score,LFI or quality of life at time of *** was significantly associated with the occurrence of the composite clinical endpoint after week 30 of waiting time(odds ratio 0.882,P=0.026).World Health Organization(WHO)-recommended MPA was significantly associated with less adverse composite clinical outcomes(P<0.001).Conclusions:In patients listed for LT,MPA decreased over time,showing a significant association with adverse outcome,specifically after week 30 on the waiting *** data support the implem

Profiles of Entamoeba histolytica—specific imunoglobulins in human sera

Objective:To determine the profdes of anti-Entamoeba histolytica(***) ***. and IgM in sera of diarrheic and non-diarrheic individuals and partially characterize target ***:Serum samples from thirty diarrheic and thirty non-diarrheic individuals were subjected to IgA,IgG,and IgM profiling through enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (***),flow cytometry,and ***:ELbA titer results showed that both diarrheic and non-diarrheic individuals possess high levels of ***-specific IgG compared to IgA and *** cytometry data showed that diarrheic serum samples had higher mean reaction percentages against *** cells compared to non-diarrheic *** *** proteins with molecular weights ranging belween 7 kDa and 292 kDa were recognized by diarrheic serum IgG,and 170 kDa and 250 kDa by non-diarrheic serum IgG. Conclusions:Our findings suggest that serum *** IgG,compared with serum *** IgA and IgM responses,was generally high in both diarrheic and nondiarrheic sera,indicating a past exposure to the organism both in symptomatic patients as well as in asymptomatic carriers,*** addition,serum IgG from diarrheic and non-diarrheic patients were able to detect immunogenic *** proteins.
