A Study of the TPS Based Beam-Matching concept for Medical Linear Accelerators at a Tertiary Hospital

The flexibility in radiotherapy can be improved if patients can be moved between any one of the department’s medical linear accelerators (LINAcs) without the need to change anything in the patient’s treatment plan. For this to be possible, the dosimetric characteristics of the various accelerators must be the same, or nearly the same. The purpose of this work is to describe further and compare measurements and parameters after the initial vendor-recommended beam matching of the five LINAcs. Deviations related to dose calculations and to beam matched accelerators may compromise treatment accuracy. The safest and most practical way to ensure that all accelerators are within clinical acceptable accuracy is to include TPS calculations in the LINAcs matching evaluation. Treatment planning system (TPS) was used to create three photons plans with different field sizes 3 × 3 cm, 10 × 10 cm and 25 × 25 cm at a depth of 4.5 cm in Perspex. calculated TPS plans were sent to Mosaiq to be delivered by five LINAcs. TPS plans were compared with five LINAcs measurements data using Gamma analyses of 2% and 2 mm. The results suggest that for four out of the five LINAcs, there was generally good agreement, less than a 2% deviation between the planned dose distribution and the measured dose distribution. However, one specific LINAc named “Asterix” exhibited a deviation of 2.121% from the planned dose. The results show that all of the LINAcs’ performance were within the acceptable deviation and delivering radiation dose consistently and accurately.

Plant triterpenoid saponins function as susceptibility factors to promote the pathogenicity of Botrytis cinerea

Enterobius vermicularis infection among population of General Mansilla,Argentina

AIM:To evaluate the relationships between the personal, sociocultural,and environmental characteristics,and the presence or absence of symptoms with the detection of Enterobius vermicularis(***)in a population sample in our region(General Mansilla,Province of Buenos Aires,Argentina),by individual and familiar analyses. comparison of the timing of spring phenological events between phenological garden trees and wild populations

Phenological research is engaged in monitoring the infuence of climate change on the natural *** International Phenological Gardens(IPG)network provides a valuable dataset of standardized tree phenology records dating back to the mid-20th *** make best use of this actively growing record,it is important to investigate how network data can be applied to predict the timing of phenological events in natural *** study compared clonally propagated IPG downy birch(Betula pubescens Ehrh.)and hazel(corylus avellana L.)specimens of central European provenance to nearby wild populations at the western-most margin of the IPG network,in the south-west of *** addition to monitoring by trained scientists,observations by citizen scientists were *** order of the timing of phenological events among sites was consistent across 2 years,confrming reproducibility of the *** trees had the earliest *** leaf unfolding and *** fowering dates of the sites *** addition,leaf unfolding occurred later in the wild populations than expected from the temperature responses of the *** and *** IPG *** variation in phenology also exceeded the historical change observed at the IPG site,suggesting a potential genetic basis for climate *** circumference,refecting the age-dependent increase in tree size,was found to infuence *** phenology,with earlier timing of phenological events in larger *** fnding highlights tree size as an important consideration in the management of phenological gardens and tree phenology research in general.

Leishmaniasis in the Argentine Republic: Temporal and geographical distribution from 2013 to 2017

Objective: To assess the temporal and geographical distribution of confirmed cases of cutaneous, mucocutaneous and visceral leishmaniasis in the Argentine Republic from 2013 to 2017. Methods: A retrospective study was carried out using data collected from the Integrated Surveillance Bulletin database of the National System of Health Surveillance. confirmed cases of cutaneous, mucocutaneous and visceral leishmaniasis up to the 52 nd epidemiological week of each year was included. Results: In the 5 years period, 1 295 confirmed leishmaniasis cases were reported in the Argentine Republic. One thousand twenty-eight(1 028) cases corresponded to cutaneous leishmaniasis(87.10%), being the most common type of leishmaniasis. Mucocutaneous leishmaniasis was in the second place in the country with 115 cases reported, mostly in the Northwest and Northeast regions. A total of 52 individuals with visceral leishmaniasis were identified and Misiones Province was the most affected. conclusions: It is important to analyze the temporal and geographical distribution of leishmaniasis in order to provide an adequate management and surveillance.

Are there sex-based disparities in cataract surgery?

AIM:To investigate sex-based differences in the occurrence of intra-operative and post-operative complications and associated visual outcomes following cataract ***:This was a retrospective study of patients who had phacoemulsification cataract surgery at the University of colorado School of *** collected included the patient’s health history,ocular comorbidities,operative and post-operative complications,and the post-operative best corrected visual acuity(BcVA).The data were analyzed using univariate and multivariable logistic regression with generalized estimating equations to account for the correlation of some patients having two eyes included in the ***:A total of 11977 eyes from 7253 patients were included in the *** comorbidities differed by sex,with males having significantly higher percentages of traumatic cataracts(males 0.7%vs females 0.1%),prior ocular surgery(6.7%vs 5.5%),and mature cataracts(2.8%vs 1.9%).conversely,females had significantly higher rates of pseudoexfoliation(2.0%vs 3.2%).In unadjusted analysis,males had higher rates of posterior capsular rupture(0.8%vs 0.4%)and vitreous loss(1.0%vs 0.6%),but this difference was not significant after adjustment for *** had a significantly increased risk of post-operative retinal detachment,but in multivariable analysis this was no longer *** were significantly less likely to undergo post-operative neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet(Nd:YAG)laser capsulotomy for posterior capsule opacification(OR=0.8,95%cI=0.7-0.9,P=0.0005).The BcVA was slightly worse for males pre-operatively;but post-operatively,both sexes exhibited similar visual acuity of Snellen equivalent 20/***:The study finds that in a cohort of patients presenting for cataract surgery,sex differences exist in pre-operative comorbidities and surgical characteristics that contribute to higher rates of some complications for ***,observed surgical complicatio

Single atom cu-N-c catalysts for the electro-reduction of cO_(2) to cO assessed by rotating ring-disc electrode

The electrochemical cO_(2) reduction reaction(cO_(2)RR) to controllable chemicals is considered as a promising pathway to store intermittent renewable energy. Herein, a set of catalysts based on copper-nitrogendoped carbon xerogel(cu-N-c) are successfully developed varying the copper amount and the nature of the copper precursor, for the efficient cO_(2)RR. The electrocatalytic performance of cu-N-c materials is assessed by a rotating ring-disc electrode(RRDE), technique still rarely explored for cO_(2)RR. For comparison, products are also characterized by online gas chromatography in a H-cell. The as-synthesized cu-Nc catalysts are found to be active and highly cO selective at low overpotentials(from -0.6 to -0.8 V ***) in 0.1 M KHcO_(3), while H_(2) from the competitive water reduction appears at larger overpotentials(-0.9 V vs. RHE). The optimum copper acetate-derived catalyst containing cu-N_(4) moieties exhibits a cO_(2)-to-cO turnover frequency of 997 h^(-1) at -0.9 V vs. RHE with a H_(2)/cO ratio of 1.8. These results demonstrate that RRDE configuration can be used as a feasible approach for identifying electrolysis products from cO_(2)RR.

Background Pediatric post coronavirus disease 2019(cOVID-19)condition(PPcc)is a heterogeneous syndrome,which can significantly affect the daily lives of *** study aimed to identify clinically meaningful phenotypes in children with PPcc,to better characterize and treat this *** Participants were children with physician-diagnosed PPcc,referred to the academic hospital Amsterdam UMc in the Netherlands between November 2021 and march *** factors and information on post-cOVID symptoms,comorbidities,and impact on daily life were *** clusters were identified using an unsupervised and unbiased approach for mixed data *** Analysis of 111 patients(aged 3–18 years)revealed three distinct clusters within *** 1(n=62,median age=15 years)predominantly consisted of girls(74.2%).These patients suffered relatively more from exercise intolerance,dyspnea,and smell *** 2(n=33,median age=13 years)contained patients with an even gender distribution(51.5%girls).They suffered from relatively more sleep problems,memory loss,gastrointestinal symptoms,and *** 3(n=16,median age=11 years)had a higher proportion of boys(75.0%),suffered relatively more from fever,had significantly fewer symptoms(median of 5 symptoms compared to 8 and 10 for clusters 1 and 2 respectively),and experienced a lower impact on daily *** This study identified three distinct clinical PPcc phenotypes,with variations in sex,age,symptom patterns,and impact on daily *** findings highlight the need for further research to understand the potentially diverse underlying mechanisms contributing to post-cOVID symptoms in children.
