Atrial fibrillation is a cardiac arrhythmia of high prevalence in the population, especially in the elderly. Its main electrical characteristics are the interval between two successive irregular R waves, absence of P waves and presence of f waves between QRs complexes. The most common symptoms of atrial fibrillation are irregular palpitations associated with dyspnea, dizziness, feeling tired, fatigue and general malaise, but not all patients have any symptoms. The present report presents the history of an elderly patient who arrived at the hospital’s emergency department with irregular heart rhythm and palpitations. The patient’s symptoms, associated with the electrocardiogram results, indicated paroxysmal atrial fibrillation. Electrical cardioversion was performed, and after, cardiac ablation via the femoral vein at the hospital’s cardiology service. There were no complications during the procedure. As a routine imaging exam after ablation, control esophagogastroduodenoscopy was requested to verify that there was no formation of atrio-esophageal fistula developed by the invasive ablation procedure and electrocardiogram, which showed normal sinus rhythm. The patient remained in the cardiac intensive care unit for observation for 24 hours. After the electrical cardioversion and catheter ablation procedures, the patient improved his clinical picture of atrial fibrillation and was discharged after 24 hours of hospitalization. He received treatment to perform at home, to reduce acid reflux into the esophagus and to prevent thrombosis. He did not present pulmonary thromboembolism after hospital discharge. It is believed, therefore, that this form of treatment and management of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation is effective for the solution of the proposed problem and can also serve as a reference for other professionals within the cardiology service.

Patients with decompensated hepatic cirrhosis may present systemic alterations and dysfunction of multiple organs. Ascites, portal hypertension, esophageal varices, and hepatic encephalopathy are common complications arising from cirrhosis. The aim of this paper is to report a case of a patient with liver cirrhosis and the complications of a transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt.span> Male, elderly, and ex-alcoholic, diagnosed with liver cirrhosis, ascites, and esophageal varices. He underwent transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt due to portal hypertension and returned to the hospital after 24 hours with agitation and mental confusion. He had a bowel movement stop, neurological worsening, loss of renal function, hepatic hydrothorax, hepatic encephalopathy, hypernatremia, hypocalcemia, and hypophosphatemia. He underwent a new procedure to occlude the transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt, showing improvement of the mental status and ascites. However, continued with decompensation and hydro-electrolytic disorders. He evolved with worsening of the ventilatory pattern, and neurological and renal function, with a fatal outcome. span style="font-family:Verdana;">Esophageal varices due to portal hypertension can be corrected with the transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt. However, complications such as hypernatremia, hepatic hydrothorax, and hepatic encephalopathy may occur. Therefore, there is a need for reintervention to shunt or reduce its caliber. Thus, for patients with advanced age and decompensated cirrhosis, the potential risks and benefits of this procedure should be carefully evaluated due to the risk of complications and death.

Lymphomas are neoplastic transformations that affect lymphoid cells. Diffuse large B-cell non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma has a high degree of cell proliferation, accounting for 30% of all lymphomas. Lung cancer is the leading cause of death worldwide and the recommended treatment is chemotherapy. Among the main complications resulting from non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, lung cancer and chemotherapy used in their treatment, we can mention sepsis, acute kidney injury and febrile neutropenia. Febrile neutropenia can occur by suppressing the production of neutrophils. sepsis, a widespread infection, is the main cause of acute kidney injury, which can also be caused by hydroelectrolytic complications or by nephrotoxicity. This is a report of a smoking patient with metastatic lung cancer who sought care due to progressive dysphagia, cough with chest pain, fever, and lower airways critical obstruction due to mediastinal lymphadenopathy, being diagnosed with diffuse large B-cell non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The patient evolved to death because of a significant worsening of the ventilatory pattern of multifactorial cause, mainly due to sepsis, acute kidney injury, and febrile neutropenia. The patient had mostly classic characteristics of her comorbidities, however, the overlapping of interrelated comorbidities led to the outcome of death. What is unusual about the present case report is that the patient’s characteristics, such as age, sex, and ethnicity, are opposite to those described as risk factors for diffuse large B-cell non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

The determination of available phosphorus(P)in soil is essential to the evaluation of the current fertility status,and therefore,for recommending the required phosphate fertilizers for the cultivation of *** mostly used extractants around the country are Mehlich-1(M-1)and anionic resins(AR)and mixed resins(MR).However,there are still controversies in relation to the method that should be used,due to of particularities of each ***,the main objectives of this work was to assess the applicability of films of binary combination between cellulose acetate(CA)biopolymer and calcinated layered double hydroxide(LDH-c),named CAF-LDH-c,as a new extractor of available P in *** this,two experiments were set *** the first one,sub-samples of an Oxisol layer 0-20 cm were used and submitted to increasing doses of total P(0,250,750 and 2,250 mg/dm3)in the form of monoammonium phosphate(MAP)at different incubation time(5,30,60 and 90 d).In the second experiment,samples of 20 soils from different origins and contents of available P were used with distinct chemical and physical *** analysis of available P by M-1,AR,MR,Mehlich-3(M-3)and CAF-LDH-c extractants was done in both *** efficiency of the extractants was evaluated by Pearson’s linear *** correlation between values of P extracted from soil in the first experiment was highly significant among all extraction methods used,including for *** the second experiment,CAF-LDH-c showed significant correlation(psignificant correlations of the extractant being tested(CAF-LDH-c)with those usually used indicates the possibility of this new method of routine laboratories for assessing the P availability of for the cultivation of crops.

【目的】研究中国咖啡主栽区咖啡种质资源圃中由专性寄生病原真菌咖啡驼孢锈菌(Hemileia vastatrix *** Br.)引起的咖啡黄锈病(coffee leaf rust,CLR)致病类型,对保护中国咖啡种质资源以及指导主栽区抗性品种的布局和选育具有重要意义。【方法】收集分布在中国咖啡主栽区4个具有代表性的咖啡种质资源圃CLR病样,在超感病基因型寄主上进行扩繁及单孢分离,在特定基因型寄主上对咖啡驼孢锈菌的毒力基因进行鉴定,并推导出相应的致病类型。【结果】57份样品中,有42份样品(占73.68%)被成功扩繁,有27份样品(占64.29%)被保存。根据样品信息录入23个CIFC条目,共鉴定出3种致病类型:XXXⅦ(v_(2,5,6,7,9)),占86.96%,为优势致病类型;New race(v_(2,5,6,7)),占8.69%,为在中国种质资源圃CLR调查的首次报道;XXXIV(v_(2,5,7,9)),占4.35%。【结论】中国咖啡主栽区咖啡驼孢锈菌群体遗传结构正在发生改变,原有致病类型已渗入位于主栽区内的种质资源圃,并在基因型相近的寄主上加速进化;新的致病类型在主栽区内的咖啡基地和种质资源圃之间随机流动,并对当前主栽品种的抗性造成威胁。研究结果将为中国咖啡种质资源圃的科学管理提供重要依据,为CLR防控提供理论支持。

Ultraviolet radiation is the mainly degradation cause of solar cells polymeric encapsulants films, leading to a photovoltaic efficiency conversion fails. In this work, it was produced gamma irradiated and non-irradiated quartz nanoparticles with a planetary balls mill by applying progressive compressive milling, as potentials ultraviolet radiation absorbers fillers for these films. The nanoparticles chemical composition was obtained by plasma optical emission spectroscopy. UV-vis-NIR results showed a similar total optical absorption on ultraviolet range to both kind of nanoparticles, with higher light transmission in visible and NIR range being characteristic of irradiated ones. It was found average sizes values of 60.82 nm with 16% efficiency with mainly Al and Fe compounds contaminations. The XRD results showed maximum pressure of 337 MPa for non-irradiated samples and 300 MPa for the irradiated ones, significantly lower than literature related values to 40 h of applied pressure. This could mean considerable process energy safe for quartz nanoparticles production.
