Combinate effect of antimelanosic agents(acerola fruit extract and sodium metabisulphite)with the modified atmosphere packaging on the quality of white shrimp(Litopenaeus vannamei)stored under refrigeration

The current study set out to find out how shrimp quality in cold storage(4°C)for 21 d was impacted by antimelanosic treatments(10%acerola fruit extract(AF)and 1.25%sodium metabisulphite(SMS)solutions for 10 min)in combination with modified atmosphere packaging(MAP,including vacuum):Atmospheric air(AIR),MAP1[70%n_(2):25%CO_(2):5%O_(2)],MAP2[25%n_(2):70%CO_(2):5%O_(2)],and vacuum(VAC).Untreated samples were considered as Control(C).Every three days,microbiological,physicochemical,and sensory investigations were ***,the findings show that MAP improve the shelf-life of shrimp stored under 4°*** the battle to control melanosis,SMS's effectiveness–either alone or in combination with MAP–was ***,the AF was also efficient and can be an effective and a natural substitute in the control of *** considering the results of the physico-chemical and microbiological results,the SMS often did not differ from the treatment with AF,demonstrating the excellent viability of the AF on the quality of the shrimp stored under ***,given that acerola's high levels of vitamin C and phenolic compounds are known to have antioxidant activity,it is advised that additional studies be ***,these studies should aim to isolate specific fruit parts(peel,pulp,seeds)to determine where the highest concentration of phenolic compounds is found,or even to purify acerola extracts to comprehend the fruit's true antimelanosic potential.

Fluid flow simulation of industrial fixed bed mixed-flow grain dryer using k-ω SST turbulence model

The fluid dynamics analysis on industrial,mixed-flow grain dryers with fixed bed using computational techniques is necessary to assist the design of such equipment contributing to cost reduction in the dryer projects and agricultural drying operations that involve the production of grains in the *** study presents a Computational Fluid Dynamic(CFD)solution for air flow analysis in an industrial *** air flow at the inlet and outlet of the dryer was investigated using the k-ωSST turbulence *** dryer region with soybean was considered as a laminar porous medium flow in the permanent and isothermal regime,having for the model a simplified geometry with the tower considered as a porous medium and the air inlet and outlet as a turbulent fluid *** flow was treated with a permanent and isothermal *** flow and pressures were used according to design *** validate the k-ωSST turbulence model,the velocity profile at the dryer inlet was obtained experimentally,which presented results with good agreement between the numerical and the experimental *** model obtained satisfactory results of the computational validation of the air flow in the dryer with good convergence requiring a minimum of computational effort,being suitable for the simulation of industrial-scale dryers,as to its air flow through a tower,operating with fixed bed soybean in the steady and isothermal regime.

The late-to post-collisional stage in orogenic systems is characterized by the coeval existence of bimodal potassic to ultrapotassic magmatic activity related to partial melting of an enriched lithospheric mantle together with crustal derived *** this paper,we present new whole rock geochemical analyses combined with zircon and titanite U–Pb and zircon Hf isotopic data from potassic to ultrapotassic rocks from six plutons that occur within the Archean Itacambira-Monte Azul block(BIMA),to discuss their petrogenesis and the tectonic implications for the São Francisco *** new U–Pb ages range from ca.2.06 Ga to 1.98 Ga and reveal long-lasting potassic magmatism within the BIMA,which is within the late-to-post-collisional stage of the São Francisco paleocontinent *** ultrapotassic rocks are compatible with a fluid-related metasomatized mantle source enriched by previous subduction events,whereas the potassic rocks are bimodal and have a transitional shoshonitic to A-type *** rocks have a hybrid nature,possible related to the mixing between the mafic potassic/ultrapotassic rocks and high temperature crustal melts of the Archean continental *** results also show an increase of within-plate signature towards the younger potassic *** participation of an important Archean crustal component in the genesis of these rocks is highlighted by the common and occasionally abundant occurrence of Archean inherited *** Hf isotopic record shows that most of the zircon inheritance has dominantly subchondriticεHf(t)values,which fits a crustal reworking derivation from a similar Eo-to Paleoarchean precursor ***,the presence of juvenile 2.36 Ga zircon inheritance in an ultrapotassic sample reveal the existence of a hidden reservoir that is somewhat similar to the described for the Mineiro Belt in southern São Francisco paleocontinent.

Effect of Combined Use of Brackish Water and nitrogen Fertilizer on Biomass and Sugar Yield of Sweet Sorghum

Soil salinization and non-point source pollution are among the most important and widespread environmental problems in European Mediterranean regions. Sweet sorghum （Sorghum bicolor （L.） Moench var. saccharatum） is a moderate to high salinity tolerant crop with low water and nutrient needs, seen as an alternative to grow in the water scarce regions. A three-year multifactorial study was conducted in southern Portugal to evaluate the combined effects of saline water and nitrogen application on the dry biomass （total, stems, and leaves）, sugar content （total reducing sugars and sucrose eontents） and sugar yield （here defined as the product of total reducing sugars and stems dry biomass） functions of sweet sorghum. Sorghum dry biomass and sugar yield showed diminishing returns for each incremental change of nitrogen. The use of saline irrigation waters also led to yield reduction. Exception was sucrose content which increased with increasing levels of sodium in the soil. nitrogen need decreased as the amount of sodium applied increased. Stem dry biomass, sucrose content, and sugar yield progressively increased with progress in the experiment. The effect could be attributed to the increase of the amount of irrigation applied throughout the years, thus increasing the leaching fraction which promoted salt leaching from the root zone, reduced the salinity stress, increased plant transpiration, nitrogen uptake and biomass yield.

Background: European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy( ESGE) recommends needle-knife fstulotomy(nKF) as the preferred precut technique in cases when standard cannulation techniques fail. Despite scarce scientifc evidence, flat and diverticular papillae are thought not to be ideal for nKF, as they are associated with poor outcomes. The present study aimed to determine the outcomes of the use of nKF in relation to flat and intradiverticular papillae. Methods: This prospective multicenter study enrolled consecutive patients, evidencing na?ve flat(group A, n = 49) or diverticular papilla(group B, n = 28), who underwent nKF after failure of standard cannulation techniques. Diverticular morphology was subdivided into intradiverticular(group B1, n = 14) and diverticular border papillae(group B2, n = 14), using a previously validated endoscopic classifcation of the major papilla. The success of biliary cannulation at initial endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography(ERCP), overall biliary cannulation, overall cannulation time, and the rate of adverse events were assessed in the study. Results: The initial cannulation rates were 93.9%, 64.3% and 71.4% for group A, B1, and B2, respectively( P = 0.005);overall cannulation rates after a second ERCP were 98.0%, 92.9% and 85.7%, respectively( P = 0.134). Adverse events occurred in 11.7% of patients, with post-ERCP pancreatitis(PEP) being the most common adverse event(10.4%). Although there was a trend towards a higher incidence of PEP in flat papillae, univariate and multivariate analyses did not show any signifcant relationship between pancreatitis and trainee involvement, papillary morphology, nor overall cannulation time. Conclusions: Although flat papillae are associated with high success rates of biliary cannulation using nKF, the rate of PEP is not negligible. nKF is feasible in diverticular papillae, but it is associated with a modest success rate in the initial ERCP.
