Carboxymethyl cellulose(CMC)has emerged in oil and gas industries as a superior substitution to the conventional HPAM and xanthan gum(XG)for high viscosity polymer flooding *** this study,the combined effect of conventional surfactant,sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate(SDBS)and CMC for potential surfactant-polymer(SP)flooding in enhanced oil recovery(EOr)has been ***,SDBS–CMC interaction and the functional groups present in CMC were appropriately *** presence of various C–O bonds signifies the existence of carboxymethyl group which greatly influence the rheological properties of CMC *** behaviour of SDBS–CMC was characterized by their viscosity,shear rate,solubilization,wettability,and surface *** flooding utilizing SDBS-CMC was performed and compared to commercial SDBS-XG SP *** results indicate several SDBS-CMC combinations are favourable for EOr *** viscosity shows direct relationship with CMC ***,at any given SDBS concentrations,significant increment was observed at 0.3 wt%and ***,the trend displayed inconclusive relation to SDBS *** of the SDBS-CMC combinations generate Winsor III emulsions particularly at CMC of 0.2 and 0.3 wt%,while Type II were observed in few *** CMC concentrations increased the contact angle,while gradual reductions were observed with SDBS *** gradual reduction in surface tension was highly influenced by the addition of CMC r.ther than SDBS.A novel combination of 0.3 wt%SDBS and 0.4 wt%CMC possessed an encouraging criterion in term of viscosity,solubilization,and surface tension reduction for EOr *** experiment from several SDBS-CMC combinations proved to recover additional oil ranging 16.4–20.2%of oil initially in place(OIIP).The trend in incremental oil recovery is similar to that of when utilising SDBS-XG.

Co-contamination of diesel fuel and heavy metals can be challenging for microbial remediation due to the complex composition of the fuel and the inhibitory effect of heavy *** is an urgent need to study this interaction to improve the pollutant removal efficiency in the Polar *** growth of an Antarctic bacterium,rhodococcus *** studied by comparing the growth at the logarithmic phase under the effect of selected heavy metals(Pb,Cr,As,Cd,Cu,Zn,Ni,Hg and Co).The selected heavy metals inhibited the growth of the rhodococcus *** diesel fuel in an order from highest to lowest of:Hg>Zn>Cd>Cu>Co>Ni>As>Pb>*** on diesel fuel co-contaminated with Hg and Zn were 2.95%and 5.71%,respectively compared to the no-metal control.A further experiment with various Zn concentrations was *** specific growth rate of rhodococcus ***-contaminated with different concentrations of Zn showed a correlation coefficient(r)of 0.916,and was modelled with an exponential decay *** investigation is needed to determine the effect of low concentration of Zn on hydrocarbon *** is important to understand the relationships between microbes,hydrocarbons and heavy metals,especially in the Polar regions because this interaction might be promising in treating hydrocarbon-polluted sites containing heavy *** data and results also provide baseline tools of bioremediation processes at low temperatures and the knowledge of the ecological roles of rhodococcus *** Antarctica.

This study focused,for the first time,on the effect of ultrasonic features on the extraction efficiency of secondary metabolites in mustard seed cake(MSC).The nematostatic potential of sonicated seed cake was examined against the second-stage juveniles(J2s)of root-knot nematode,Meloidogyne *** results show that a 35 ppm(parts per million)concentration of a sonicated extract(SE)sample of MSC caused 65%J2s mortality at 18 h exposure period in *** also significantly suppressed the root-knot index(rKI=0.94)in tomato *** lethal concentration values for SE were 51.76,29.79,and 13.34 ppm,respectively,at 6,12,and 18 h of the exposure period,and the lethal concentration values for the non-sonicated extract(NSE)sample were 116.95,76.38,and 55.59 ppm,respectively,at similar exposure *** and gluconapin were identified as the major compounds in ultrasonic-assisted *** of the high extraction efficiency of metabolites in the SE,all treat‐ments of SE were shown to be antagonistic to ***,this study of ultrasonication activity-based profiling of MSC may help generate target-based compounds at a scale relevant to the control of disease caused by nematodes in economic crops.

Antidiabetic and antioxidant activities of Nypa fruticans Wurmb. vinegar sample from Malaysia

Objective: To study the antidiabetic and antioxidant activities of nipa palm vinegar(NPV) used in traditional Malay medicine for treating diabetes. Methods: NPV was extracted using liquid-liquid extraction method and the obtained samples were subjected to antidiabetic studies using normal and streptozotocin-induced diabetic rat models whereas antidoxidant activities were investigated via in vitro antioxidant tests namely 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl and 2,2'-azinobis-3-ethylbenzothiozoline-6-sulfonic acid free radicals scavenging activities and the reducing power assay. results: Single administration of NPV and its extracts were not effective in both normal and diabetic rats. In intraperitoneal glucose tolerance test, NPV and its aqueous extract showed significant blood glucose lowering effect. In the sub-acute study, compared with the diabetic control, aqueous extract of NPV showed the most notable blood glucose lowering effect(56.6%) and a significant improvement in serum insulin levels(79.8%, Pree in vitro antioxidant tests were employed: 2,2-diphenyl-1-picryhydrazyl and 2,2'-azinobis-3-ethylbenzothiozoline-6-sulfonic acid free radical-scavenging assays, and the reducing power assay. Ethyl acetate extract had the greatest antioxidant potential and content of phenolic and flavonoid compounds. A linear positive correlation between the antioxidant parameters was observed. Chemical profiling analysis of aqueous extract of NPV revealed the presence of acetic acid(35.25%), the main active constituent which significantly contributed to the observed antidiabetic activity. Conclusions: Aqueous extract of NPV possesses antihyperglycaemic activities comparable to the metformin, while the ethyl acetate extract precipitated significant antioxidant effects attributable to its high phenolic content. These findings suggest that antioxidant compounds of NPV do not contribute much towards the overall observed antidiabetic effect.

Coordinated Voltage Control in Distribution Network with renewable Energy based Distributed Generation

This paper presentsa voltage control strategy for power distribution systems with interconnected renewable energy based distributed generators (DGs). The control strategy coordinating conventional voltage control devices and reactive power from DG.A mixed-integer nonlinear programming problem was formulated and solved by particle swarm optimization (PSO). The code is written using DigSILENT programming language (DPL) and implemented inside DigSILENT power factory simulation software. All system constraints and operating limits are considered. The optimal power flow based approach can incorporate various uncertainties such as intermittent power characteristics and varying load demand. The proposed method is tested using real distribution network to demonstrate its effectiveness. The merits of the proposed method over the classical local-based control are presented in the simulation results. It is demonstrated that the proposed method is capable of keeping the system voltage within operating limit. Power losses is at the same time is minimized in comparison to the losses using conventional method.

Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is one of the leading causes of death induced by cancer in the modern world and majority of the cases are related to chronic hepatitis B virus(HBV)***-encoded X protein(HBx)is known to play a pivotal role in the pathogenesis of viral induced *** is a multifunctional protein of17 kDa which modulates several cellular processes by direct or indirect interaction with a repertoire of host factors resulting in *** might interfere with several cellular processes such as oxidative stress,DNA repair,signal transduction,transcription,protein degradation,cell cycle progression and apoptosis.A number of reports have indicated that HBx is one of the most common viral OrFs that is often integrated into the host genome and its sequence variants play a crucial role in *** mutational or deletion analysis it was shown that carboxy terminal of HBx has a likely role in protein-protein interactions,transcriptional transactivation,DNA repair,cell,signaling and pathogenesis of *** accumulated evidence thus far suggests that it is difficult to understand the mechanistic nature of HBx associated HCC,and HBx mediated transcriptional transactivation and signaling pathways may be a major *** article addresses the role of HBx in the development of HCC with particular emphasis on HBx mutants and their putative targets.

The impact of task characteristics on the performance of nursing teams
