Alkali halides crystals have been the subject of intense research. High order crystalline one phase mixtures （high order： more that binary） studied by TL （thermoluminiscence technique） proved having persistent peaks along the time after the radiation to which they are exposed. In general in alkali halide crystals the traps associated with highest recorded temperature peaks in the TL due to radiation damage have greater permanence in time too. These features are useful for dosimetric applications. In this work, temperature thermoluminescence glow peaks of ternary and quaternary mixed alkali halide crystals have been studied. The study has been focused on their high temperature glow peaks after being subjected to thermal treatments at 373, 573, and 673 K. The glow peaks of high temperature were isolated and studied 24 h and 48 h after irradiation. The parameters of the recombination processes associated to these peaks were obtained using a glow peak shape method. Orders of kinetics were higher than 1.0 and the activation energy greater than 1.2 eV. The results suggest that such materials have a high potential as dosimeter and energy storage materials.

We investigated the effects of climate change on the distribution of the Asiatic ibex(Capra sibirica)in eastern *** existing climate change studies have been conducted on the habitat of a wild goat species in *** conducted ecological niche modelling to compare potential present and future distributions of suitable environmental conditions for *** to 2070,18%(2689 km^2)of the current suitable areas would be lost,mostly located in the southeastern and northwestern regions of the study ***,new suitable habitats could expand outside the current ibex range—about 30%(4595 km^2)expansion until *** found that the elevation,terrain roughness,seasonal temperature,and precipitation of warmest quarter were the most important factors in the models and had strong correlations to ibex *** losses in the southeastern portion overlapped most of the current locations of ibex in that *** losses were observed in the much lower elevations of the study area(3500 m to 4000 m).When considering both loss and gain,the ibex could see a net expansion to new suitable *** 30%(1379 km^2)of the average habitat gains for the Asiatic ibex in 2070 showed a shift to northern lower temperature *** results are beneficial in planning for the potential effects on biodiversity conservation in the eastern mountain region of Tajikistan under climate change *** attention should be given to the ibex populations in the southeastern region,where habitats could become unsuitable for the species as a result of the climate-induced effects on the mountain ecosystem.

Africa is the cradle of all human beings, and although it has been the focus of a number of genetic studies, there are many questions that remain unresolved. We have performed one of the largest and most comprehensive meta-analyses of mitochondrial DNA （mtDNA） lineages carried out in the African continent to date. We generated high-throughput mtDNA single nucleotide polymorphism （SNP） data （230 SNPs） from 2024 Africans, where more than 500 of them were additionally genotyped for the control region. These data were analyzed together with over 12,700 control region profiles collected from the literature, representing more than 300 population samples from Africa. Insights into the African homeland of humans are discussed. Phylogeographic patterns for the African continent are shown at a high phylogeographic resolution as well as at the population and regional levels. The deepest branch of the mtDNA tree, haplogroup L0, shows the highest sub-haplogroup diversity in Southeast and East Africa, suggesting this region as the homeland for modem humans. Several demographic estimates point to the coast as a facilitator of human migration in Africa, but the data indicate complex patterns, perhaps mirroring the effect of recent continental-scaled demographic events in re-shaping African mtDNA variability.

In this paper, a practical analysis of stability by simulation for the effect of incorporating a Kalman estimator in the control loop of the inverted pendulum with a neurocontroller is presented. The neurocontroller is calculated by approximate optimal control, without considering the Kalman estimator in the loop following the Theorem of the separation. The results are compared with a time-varying linear controller, which in noiseless conditions in the state or in the measurement has an acceptable performance, but when it is under noise conditions its operation closes into a state space range more limited than the one proposed here.

Households are the sources contributing the most to the production of urban solid wastes in developing countries. The present study analyses the generation of domestic solid wastes in a settlement in Mexico in two different years. The goals were to compare composition and rates of generation into the periods to assess changes and the influence of socioeconomic variables. In 1998 and 2004, wastes from households were sampled of three socioeconomic levels randomly selected, and a survey was applied. Data obtained were analyzed with descriptive and multivariate analysis. Results of generation rate and composition of domestic solid wastes showed a negative correlation between generation and income in the first one, but positive in the second one;in both, composition did not show correlation. Rates of per capita generation, per household, population and density of inhabitants per dwelling increased, and the generation of wastes were more with respect to population growth, which emphasizes the influence of economic and demographic variables. This study corroborates that households are the principal sources of urban solid wastes and it is emphasized that management strategies must preponderate households to be successful. In addition, this information is important to establish strategies for an integral management of urban solid wastes in developing countries.

Objective: This article is a critical review of the literature concerning thyroid cartilage chondrosarcoma and is particularly focused on the management and prognosis of this rare entity. Study Design: A review of all the cases of thyroid cartilage chondrosarcoma reported in the literature up to January 2013. Methods: The search was carried out through the introduction of the MeSH terms: Chondrosarcoma, Laryngeal Cartilages, Thyroid Cartilage, Therapeutics. All the studies related to thyroid cartilage chondrosarcoma were selected together with a newly presented case. Results: A total of 47 cases have been described in the literature, and 35 of these include sufficient data for statistical analysis. The age of patients ranged from 40 to 77 years, with a male predilection (88.6%). The main symptoms were neck mass and hoarseness. Grade I and II tumors were most frequent. A total of 13 cases described an extension of the tumor beyond the thyroid cartilage. The most common treatment was partial laryngectomy (50%). All patients who died were male, with grade II or II-III tumor or associated sarcoma, had metastases and received radiotherapy in addition to total laryngectomy. Conclusion: Patient age and tumor size does not influence the prognosis. Tumor grade I and I-II have good prognoses, whereas the prognosis is unpredictable in tumors between grade II and III. Patients with associated sarcoma, or metastasis, have a worse prognosis. Partial laryngectomy is a good therapeutic option, although total laryngectomy is sometimes required in order to ensure complete resection.

This paper compares the efficiency of D2EHPA and Cyanex 272 to extract the divalent manganese cation from an actual leaching solution obtained by reductive leaching of a low-grade pyrolusite ore, using SO2 gas. The studied variables were the extractant concentration in the organic phase, the pH of the leached liquor and the volume ratio between organic phase and leached liquor. It was observed that D2EHPA is a better extractant than Cyanex272. Therefore, with the best experimental conditions found, both extractants reach a manganese recovery around 95% with five extraction stages conducted under the following conditions: 25?C, O/A = 2, 10% volume of extractant concentration in the organic phase, pH of the leached liquor before the mixing between 8 and 8.5, and one minute of mixing time for each extraction stage.

Background:One of the pathological hallmarks distinguishing Alzheimer’s disease from other dementias is the accumulation of amyloid beta(Aβ).Higher physical activity is associated with decreased dementia risk,and one potential path could be through Aβlevels *** aimed to explore the relationship between physical activity and Aβin middle-aged and older ***:A systematic search of PubMed,Web of Science,PsycINFO,Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials,and SPORTDiscus was performed from inception to April 28,*** were eligible if they included physical activity and Aβdata in adults aged 45 years or ***-level metaanalyses of intervention and observational studies were performed to examine the role of physical activity in modulating Aβ***:In total,37 articles were included(8 randomized controlled trials,3 non-randomized controlled trials,4 prospective longitudinal studies,and 22 cross-sectional studies).The overall effect size of physical activity interventions on changes in blood Aβwas medium(pooled standardized mean difference=-0.69,95%confidence interval(95%CI):-1.41 to 0.03;I^(2)=74.6%).However,these results were not statistically significant,and there were not enough studies to explore the effects of physical activity on cerebrospinal fluid(CSF)and brain Aβ.Data from observational studies were examined based on measurements of Aβin the brain using positron emission tomography scans,CSF,and *** physical activity was positively associated with Aβonly in the CSF(Estimate r=0.12;95%CI:0.05-0.18;I^(2)=38.00%).Conclusion:Physical activity might moderately reduce blood Aβin middle-aged and older ***,results were only near statistical significance and might be interpreted with caution given the methodological limitations observed in some of the included *** observational studies,higher levels of physical activity were positively associated with Aβonly in ***,further research is needed t

Vaccination against Coronavirus disease-19(COVID-19)was pivotal to limit spread,morbidity and *** aim is to find out whether vaccines against COVID-19 lead to an immunological response stimulating the production of de novo donor specific antibodies(DSAs)or increase in mean fluorescence intensity(MFI)of pre-existing DSAs in kidney transplant recipients(KTRs).This study involved a detailed literature search through December 2nd,2023 using PubMed as the primary *** search strategy incorporated a combination of relevant Medical Subject Headings terms and keywords:"COVID-19","SARS-CoV-2 Vaccination","Kidney,Renal Transplant",and"Donor specific antibodies".The results from related studies were collated and analyzed.A total of 6 studies were identified,encompassing 460 KTRs vaccinated against *** responses were detected in 8 KTRs of which 5 had increased MFIs,1 had de novo DSA,and 2 were categorized as either having de novo DSA or increased *** were 48 KTRs with pre-existing DSAs prior to vaccination,but one study(Massa et al)did not report whether pre-existing DSAs were associated with post vaccination *** the remaining 5 studies,35 KTRs with pre-existing DSAs were identified of which 7 KTRs(20%)developed de novo DSAs or increased ***,no immunological response was detected in 452(98.3%)*** study affirms prior reports that COVID-19 vaccination is safe for KTRs,especially if there are no pre-existing ***,if KTRs have pre-existing DSAs,then an increased immunological risk may be *** findings need to be taken cautiously as they are based on a limited number of patients so further studies are still needed for confirmation.
