Performance of Heat Pipe Utilized for Atmospheric Air Heating

The objective of the present experimental work is to investigate the performance of a wrapped screen heat pipe for atmospheric air heating to compare with the limits of this pipe. The experiment was conducted using copper pipe material and acetone as working fluid at different vapor temperatures. The testing also consists of a heater, a blower for heat removal (condenser), temperature measuring device, a vapor temperature probe, acetone charging system, and a vacuum pump. The copper outside diameterof the pipe is 0.022 m, with a total length of 0.6 m. The results showed that the pipe wall temperature (Tw) for a wrapped screen heat pipe has a rapid increase and takes 50 min to reach steady state at (Q = 63 W). The vapour temperature of working fluid increases as the heat load increases at constant air velocity. It was also been found that the range of vapour temperature deceases as the filling ratio increases that means the increasing of the filling ratio results the decrease of the maximum vapour temperature and the variation in the vapour temperature. The best recorded filling ratio is 0.6 which has the lowest vapour temperature at highest heat load. The maximum heat transport limit for this pipe is 80 W and the maximum temperature difference for air is 5。C.

This paper presents a method of separation of fine particles, of the order of a few microns or less, from aqueous media by flotation using colloidal gas aphrons (CGAs) generated in aqueous solutions. More than 150 experiments were conducted to study the effects of surfactant type, surfactant concentration, CGAs flow rate, and particle concentration on the removal efficiency (fine particles of polystyrene were used as a target compound). The results indicate that CGAs, generated from cationic surfactant of hexdecyltrimethyl ammonicum bromide (HTAB) and anionic surfactant of sodium dodecylbenzne sulfonate (SDBS), are an effective method for the separation off ine particles of polystyrene from wastewater. The flotation yields are higher than 97%.

Microreaction technology is one of the most innovative and rapid developing fields in chemical engineering, synthesis and process technology. Many expectations toward enhanced product selectivity, yield and purity, improved safety, and access to new products and processes are directed to the microreaction technology. Microfluidic mixer is the most important component in microfluidic devices. Based on various principles, active and passive micromixers have been designed and investigated. This review is focused on the recent developments in microfluidic mixers. An overview of the flow phenomena and mixing characteristics in active and passive micromixers is presented, including the types of physical phenomena and their utilization in micromixers. Due to the simple fabrication technology and the easy implementation in a complex microfluidic system, T-micromixer is highlighted as an example to illustrate the effect of design and operating parameters on mixing efficiency and fuid flow inside microfluidic mixers.

AIM: To determine outcomes using the Femoro-Patella Vialla(FPV) arthroplasty and if there is an ideal patient for this implant. METHODS: A total of 41 FPV patellofemoral joint replacements were performed in 31 patients(22 females, 9 males, mean age 65 years). Mean followup was 3.2 years(minimum 2 years). Radiographs were reviewed preoperatively and postoperatively. We assessed whether gender, age, previous surgery, patella atla or trochlear dysplasia influenced patient satisfaction or patient functional ***: The median Oxford Knee Score was 40 and the median Melbourne Patellofemoral Score was 21 postoperatively. Seventy-six percent of patients were satisfied, 10% unsure and 14% dissatisfied postoperatively. There was no radiological progression of tibiofemoral joint arthritis, using the Ahlback grading,in any patient. One patient, who was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis postoperatively, underwent revision to total knee replacement. There were no intraoperative lateral releases and no implant failures. Gender, age, the presence of trochlear dysplasia, patella alta or bilateral surgery did not influence patient outcome. Previous surgery did not correlate with outcome. CONCLUSION: In contrast to the current literature, the FPV shows promising early results. However, we cannot identify a subgroup of patients with superior outcomes.

Background:This study investigates the economic impacts of eye care interventions on the quality of life in Katsina *** care intervention is a requirement for equitable and inclusive development in the ***:The study used a survey method and 5-point Likert scale questionnaire to collect data.A multistage sampling strategy was employed to select 300 beneficiaries from the existing beneficiaries of Noor Dubai Foundation(NDF)eye care ***:The findings show that cataract surgery interventions improve economic benefits and quality of life of beneficiaries in Katsina *** results show that productivity,income,employability,dignity and skills of beneficiaries have improved significantly after the cataract ***,96.2%of the beneficiaries agree that their productivity has improved;99.6%of the beneficiaries revealed that their income has improved;99%of respondents evidence that their employability has improved;90%of beneficiaries have experienced an improvement in their dignity;while 97%agreed that their skills have ***:The implication of these findings is that poor eye health is negatively related to economic benefits and quality of life while good eye health is a vital determinant of standard of *** good eye health,it is hard to participate in the labour force,produce goods and earn ***,the Katsina state government should further improve awareness of good eye health to mitigate preventable cases of blindness for equitable and inclusive development.

The predictions of this work can serve as a good reference for future experimental *** investigations will focus on the experimental study of mixing and chemical reaction in DT-shaped micromixer.

Background： Removal of the follicular content by ultrasound-guided transvaginal follicle aspiration（TVFA） may fail to induce immediate atresia and loss of function, resulting in the occurrence of residual follicles（RF）. The aims of this study were to characterize the blood flow in RF and to determine the effects of the treatment with estradiol benzoate on RF fate. Lactating, cyclic Holstein-Gir crossbred cows were used. In Experiment 1, follicular wave emergence（D0） was synchronized in cows（n = 10） and follicular growth was then monitored by transrectal ultrasonography from D0 to D8, followed by TVFA of the largest follicle present on the ovaries 24 h later. Color Doppler ultrasound imaging was used to examine blood flow on the follicular wall, which was recorded immediately before and every 12 h after TVFA, up to 72 h. In experiment 2, cows（n = 22） were randomly allocated to receive either 2 mL of saline i.m.（Control group, n = 11） or 2 mL estradiol benzoate i.m.（EB group, n = 11）immediately after TVFA. Ovaries were scanned every 12 h to confirm the presence and to measure the diameter of RF. The contents of the RF, if present, were collected 72 h after the first TVFA, using the same aspiration *** fluid from original follicles and RF were stored at-20 °C until hormonal ***： In Experiment 1, there was no reduction（P 〉 0.05） of blood flow in the remaining follicle walls after TVFA and maximum blood flow values were observed at 49.5 ± 19.7 h post-TVFA. In Experiment 2, formation of RF after TVFA was proportionally similar between Controls（5/9） and EB（5/10） cows. Also, RF diameter did not differ between groups（P 〉 0.05）. Arachis retusa Krapov. et W. C. Gregory et Valls is endemic in the West-central region of Brazil, occurring In areas endangered by human actions. The establishment of in vitro preservation methods for wild species of Arachis is an alternative to seed banks for germplasm storage, multiplication and distribution. The risk of genetic changes Induced by tissue culture and the monitoring of the genetic stability of the biological material before, during and after storage must be considered In the context of conservation. Random amplified polymorphlc ONA （RAPO） and amplified fragment length polymorphism （AFLP） fingerprinting were used to evaluate the genetic stability of in vitro plants originated from cotyledons and embryo axes of A. retusa. Cotyledons originated shoots through direct organogenesls and embryo axes displayed muItishoot formation Induced by 110 mmol/L and 8.8 mmol/L BAP, respectively. Ninety genomlc regions （loci） generated from RAPO and 372 from AFLP analyses were evaluated. All amplified fragments detected by both techniques in plants derived from the two explant types were monomorphic. The results Indicate that the recovered shoots are genetically stable at the assessed genomic regions.

Alumina supported cobalt catalysts were prepared, characterized and applied in ethanol steam reforming for hydrogen production. The support and the supported catalysts were prepared, respectively, by the solvothermal and precipitation, impregnation and deposition-precipitation methods. The cobalt was added by impregnation and deposition-precipitation in the Al2O3 supports using a Co(NO3)2·6H2O solution. The solids were characterized, Temperature-Programmed Re-duction with H2 (RTP-H2), X-Ray Diffraction (DRX), BET Nitrogen Adsorption and Temperature Programmed Oxida-tion (TPO). The results indicated that the preparation method and the treatment conditions of samples were appropriate for obtaining the wanted compounds. Co3O4 phase was verified for all catalysts through analyses of DRX and RTP-H2 results. Catalytic tests were performed by varying the temperature from 450?C to 600?C, with water: ethanol molar ratio of 3:1. The ethanol conversion was superior of 99%, with greater hydrogen yield at 600℃. The lower carbon deposition was observed in catalysts prepared with solvothermal/deposition-precipitation methods at 450℃.
