Background: Conscious patients admitted to intensive care units(ICUs) suffer from pain for various reasons, which can affect their recovery ***: The present study compared the effects of aromatherapy with Citrus aurantium and lavender essential oils against placebo for reducing pain in conscious intensive care ***, setting, participants and interventions: This study was a parallel randomized placebo-controlled trial. The ICUs of two educational hospitals in Kerman in Southeastern Iran were the study *** hundred and fifty conscious intensive care patients were randomly divided into three groups using a stratified block randomization method. Two groups received aromatherapy with essential oils: one with lavender and the other with C. aurantium;these patients received a 30-minute therapy session using their assigned essential oil on the second day of their intensive care stay. The placebo group used 5 drops of normal saline instead of essential oil during their *** outcome measures: Patient’s pain was assessed using a visual analog scale before the aromatherapy intervention, as well as immediately after and one and three hours after ***: The mean pain score of the lavender group was 40.01 before the aromatherapy intervention and fell to 39.40, 30.60 and 23.68 immediately after the intervention, and at hour one and three postintervention, respectively. The mean pain score of the C. aurantium group was 45.48 before the intervention and was reduced to 32.34 at three hours after the intervention. The mean pain of the placebo group decreased from 42.80 before the intervention to 35.20 at three hours after the intervention. Pain scores of all groups decreased during the study(P < 0.001). In order to synthesize new polyamide（PA） 5 and copolyamides（Co PA） 7a-7d, a new-type of dicarboxylic acid containing triazine ring was successfully synthesized from 2,4-dichloro-6-methoxy-s-triazine 1 and 4-aminobenzoic acid. New polyamide 5 containing triazine moiety was prepared from 4,4＇-（6-methoxy-1,3,5-triazine-2,4-diyl）bis（azanediyl）dibenzoic acid 3 and 4,4′-diaminodiphenylether by direct polycondensation reaction. Then new series thermally stable copolyamides 7a-7d with high solubility in common organic solvents were synthesized from the direct polycondensation reaction of diacid 3 as a first monomer, aliphatic-aromatic diacids 6a-6d as second diacids and 4,4′-diaminodiphenylether. All of the above polymers were fully characterized by 1H-NMR and FTIR spectroscopy, elemental analysis（CHN）, inherent viscosity, solubility tests, gel permeation chromatography（GPC）, differential scanning calorimetry（DSC） and thermogravimetric analysis（TGA）. The resulted Co PAs 7a-7d have shown good inherent viscosities, solubility and thermal properties.

The most common index for representing structural condition of the pavement is the structural *** current procedure for determining structural numbers involves utilizing falling weight deflectometer and ground-penetrating radar tests,recording pavement surface deflections,and analyzing recorded deflections by back-calculation *** procedure has two drawbacks:falling weight deflectometer and ground-penetrating radar are expensive tests;back-calculation ways has some inherent shortcomings compared to exact methods as they adopt a trial and error *** this study,three machine learning methods entitled Gaussian process regression,M5P model tree,and random forest used for the prediction of structural numbers in flexible *** of this paper is related to 759 flexible pavement sections at Semnan and Khuzestan provinces in Iran and includes“structural number”as output and“surface deflections and surface temperature”as *** accuracy of results was examined based on three criteria of R,MAE,and *** the methods employed in this paper,random forest is the most accurate as it yields the best values for above criteria(R=0.841,MAE=0.592,and RMSE=0.760).The proposed method does not require to use ground penetrating radar test,which in turn reduce costs and work *** machine learning methods instead of back-calculation improves the calculation process quality and accuracy.

Activated Hard Shell of Apricot Stones： A Promising Adsorbent in Gold Recovery

Activated carbon has been proven to be an effective adsorbent for the recovery of a wide variety of metal ions from aqueous solutions. In this research, the activated hard shell of Iranian apricot stones was used for gold recovery from electro-plating wastewater. The effect of parameters such as dose and particle size of adsorbent,pH, agitation speed of mixing on the gold recovery was investigated. The results showed that under the optimum operating conditions more than 98% of gold ions were adsorbed onto activated carbon after just 3 h. In addition, the adsorbed gold could be eluted from this adsorbent by improved striping method. The process involves contact of gold-laden adsorbent with a strong base at ambient temperatures followed by elution with an aqueous solution containing an organic solvent. It was found that activated hard shell of apricot stones has the potential to replace im ported commercial activated carbons in gold adsorption processes.

A simple and selective method was developed for the preconcentration, separation, and determination of trace amounts of As（Ⅲ） in an aqueous solution by solid phase extraction combined with graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry. Activated carbon （AC） was modified by sodium diethyldithiocarbamate （NaDDTC） and then used as a new, stable and easily prepared solid sorbent in a mini column for the extraction of As（Ⅲ） in aqueous solution. Factors influencing the sorption and desorption of As（Ⅲ）, such as volume and concentration of eluent, sam- ple pH, flow rate and effect of interfering ions on the recovery of As（Ⅲ） have been systemically investigated. At pH 2.0 As（Ⅲ） could be adsorbed quantitatively by NaDDTC-AC, and then eluted completely with 2 mL of 3.0 moloL 1 HNO3. The amount of eluted As（Ⅲ） was measured using graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry. The detection limit of As（Ⅲ） was 0.04 ng·mL-1 with enrichment factor of 100 and the relative standard deviation （RSD, n=8） was 1.58% at 10 ng·mL-1 level.

We determine the strong coupling constant α s up to 4-loop in perturbative *** QCD requires the measurement of α s over ranges of energy *** this analysis,the value of α s is determined from the unpolarized structure functions data points by minimizing the χ ^2 function between the theory result and experimental *** perturbative QCD calculations from threshold corrections,we obtain α s （M 2 Z ） = 0.1139±0.0020 at N ^3 LO which is in good agreement with the very recently results from the inclusive jet cross section in pp collisions at√ s=1.96 TeV.

A simple and reliable method for the extraction and determination of trace amounts of copper（Ⅱ） ions using activated carbon （AC） impregnated by a new Schiff base 5-[（4-heptyloxyphenyl）azo]-N-（4-propyloxyphenyl）-salicylaldimine （HPPS） and atomic absorption spectrometry is presented. Recovery efficiency and the influence of pH value, volume of sample solution, effect of different eluents, and interfering ions were evaluated. The limit of detection （3σ） was 2.62 ***^-1 and the relative standard deviation （n=10） was 1.5%. Under optimum conditions, the copper ions were concentrated 25 fold using 250 mL of sample solution and 10 mL of eluent. This procedure has been successfully applied to the determination of copper in different water samples.
