Optimal design of hybrid renewable-energy microgrid system:a techno-economic-environment-social-reliability perspective

The main objective of this paper is to select the optimal model of a hybrid renewable-energy microgrid(MG)system for a village in *** MG comprises solar photovoltaic(PV)modules,a wind turbine generator,a biomass generator,a battery bank,a diesel generator and an electric *** optimal model selection is based on technical,economic,environmental,social and reliability parameters.A novel spoonbill swarm optimization algorithm is proposed to select the best hybrid MG *** optimization results are compared with particle swarm optimization,the genetic algorithm and the grasshopper optimization *** number or size of components of the optimized MG system is 215 PV modules,92 kW of wind turbine generation,25 kW of biomass generation,267 batteries,22 kW of electric vehicles and 30 kW of diesel *** optimized system was selected based on technical factors such as renewable dispersion(93.5%),the duty factor(5.85)and excess energy(15975 kWh/year)as well as eco-nomic considerations including the net present cost(Rs.34686622)and the cost of energy(9.3 Rs./kWh).Furthermore,environ-mental factors such as carbon emissions(396348 kg/year)and atmospheric particulate matter(22.686 kg/year);social factors such as the human progress index(0.68411),the employment generation factor(0.0389)and local employment generation(15.64643);and reliability parameters including loss of power supply probability(0.01%)and availability index(99.99%)were considered during the selection *** spoonbill swarm optimization algorithm has reduced the convergence time by 1.2 times and decreased the number of iterations by 0.83 times compared with other *** performance of the MG system is validated in the MATLAB®*** results show that the MG system is the optimal system considering technical,economic,environmental,social and reliability ***,the spoonbill swarm optimization algorithm is found to be more efficient than the other

The present study investigates the effect of nanoindentation on single-crystal magnesium specimens using the embedded-atom method potential in molecular dynamics *** are done under dynamic loading where the load-bearing capacity and change in the structural configuration are studied on the basal(Z-direction)and two prismatic planes(X-and Y-directions)with varying indenter *** investigation of structural evolution is done using atomic displacement analyses to measure the net magnitude of displacement,atomic strain analyses to evaluate the shear strain developed in the process,and Wigner-Seitz defect analyses to calculate the total vacancies at varied ***,Voronoi analyses are done when indented on the basal plane to identify the cluster distribution at different planar depths of the *** the analyses,it has been observed that the load-bearing capacity of the specimen varies with the indentation velocity and the direction of indentation on the ***,it is seen that the observed shear and total atomic displacement in the Z-direction is the least in comparison to the other two *** partial dislocation 1/3is seen to be majorly present and the population of dislocation loops is more abundant for lower indenter ***,clustersandare the major indices developed during nanoindentation on the basal plane where they exhibit symmetrical distribution as observed from the Z-direction.

Graphene is a fascinating material of recent origin whose first isolation was being made possible through micromechanical cleavage of a graphite crystal. Owing to its fascinating properties, graphene has garnered significant attention in the research community for multiple applications. A number of methods have been employed for the synthesis of single-layer and multi-layer graphene. The extraordinary properties of graphene such as its Hall effect at room temperature, high surface area, tunable bandgap, high charge mobility and excellent electrical, conducting and thermal properties allow for the development of sensors of various types and also opened the doors for its use in nanoelectronics, supercapacitors and batteries. Biological aspects of graphene have also been investigated with particular emphasis on its toxicity and drug delivery. In this review, many of the salient aspects of graphene, such as from synthesis to its applications, primarily focusing on sensor applications which are of current interest, are covered.

Hollow silica reinforced magnesium nanocomposites with enhanced mechanical and biological properties with computational modeling analysis for mandibular reconstruction

The present study investigates Mg-SiO2 nanocomposites as biodegradable implants for orthopedic and maxillofacial *** effect of presence and progressive addition of hollow silica nanoparticles(0.5,1,and 1.5)vol.%on the microstructural,mechanical,degradation,and biocompatibility response of pure Mg were *** suggest that the increased addition of hollow silica nanoparticles resulted in a progressive increase in yield strength and ultimate compressive strength with Mg-1.5 vol.%SiO2 exhibiting superior *** response of Mg-SiO2 nanocomposites under the influence of Hanks’balanced salt solution revealed that the synthesized composites revealed lower corrosion rates,indicating rapid dynamic passivation when compared with pure ***,cell adhesion and proliferation of osteoblast cells were noticeably higher than pure Mg with the addition of 1 vol.%SiO2 *** biocompatibility and the in vitro biodegradation of the Mg-SiO2 nanocomposites were influenced by the SiO2 content in pure Mg with Mg-0.5 vol.%SiO2 nanocomposite exhibiting the best corrosion resistance and biocompatibility when compared with other *** in mechanical,corrosion,and biocompatibility characteristics of Mg-SiO2 nanocomposites developed in this study are also compared with properties of other metallic biomaterials used in alloplastic mandibular reconstruction in a computational model.

Mechanism and its regulation of tumor-induced angiogenesis

Tumor angiogenesis is the proliferation of a network of blood vessels that penetrates into cancerous growths, supplying nutrients and oxygen and removing waste products. The process of angiogenesis plays an important role in many physiological and pathological conditions. Solid tumors depend on angiogenesis for growth and metastasis in a hostile environment. In the prevascular phase, the tumor is rarely larger than 2 to 3 mm3 and may contain a million or more cells. Up to this size, tumor cells can obtain the necessary oxygen and nutrient supplies required for growth and survival by simple passive diffusion. The properties of tumors to release and induce several angiogenic and antiangiogenic factors which play crucial roles in regulating endothelial cell (EC) proliferation, migration, apoptosis or survival, cell-cell and cell-matrix adhesion through different intracellular signaling are thought to be the essential mechanisms during tumor-induced angiogenesis. Tumor angiogenesis actually starts with tumor cells releasing molecules that send signals to surrounding normal host tissue. This signaling activates certain genes in the host tissue that, in turn, make proteins to encourage growth of new blood vessels. In this review, we focus the mechanisms of tumor-induced angiogenesis, with an emphasis on the regulatory role of several angiogenic and anti-angiogenic agents during the angiogenic process in tumors. Advances in understanding the mechanisms of tumor angiogenesis have led to the development of several most effective antiangiogenic and anti-metastatic therapeutic agents and also have provided several techniques for the regulation of cancer's angiogenic switch. The suggestion is made that standard cytotoxic chemotherapy and angiogenesis inhibitors used in combination may produce complementary therapeutic benefits in the treatment of cancer.

Using lanthanum to enhance the overall ignition, hardness, tensile and compressive strengths of Mg-0.5Zr alloy

Near dense Mg 0.5 wt.% Zr（0,1,2.5 and 4） wt.% La alloys were successfully synthesized by disintegrated melt deposition technique followed by hot extrusion and were characterized for their microstructural, ignition, hardness, tensile and compression properties. Combined effects of Zr and La assisted in significant grain refinement of Mg and Mg 0.5 wt.% Zr 4 wt.% La exhibited an average grain size as low as ~2.75 μm. High ignition temperature of ~645 oC was realized with Mg 0.5 wt.% Zr（1,2.5 and 4） wt.% La alloys. Microhardness value as high as ~103 Hv was observed with Mg 0.5 wt.% Zr 4 wt.% La alloy. Under room temperature tensile and compression loading, significant improvements in the strength properties of pure Mg with the addition of 0.5 wt.% Zr（0, 1, 2.5 and 4） wt.% La was observed. Mg 0.5 wt.% Zr 4 wt.% La exhibited the maximum 0.2% tensile and compression yield strengths of ~283 MPa and ~264 MPa, respectively. The tensile and compression fracture strain values of synthesized pure Mg were found to be unaffected with the addition of 0.5 wt.% Zr. But the tensile fracture strain reduced with the addition of La while the compressive fracture strain was unaffected. Minimal tensile-compression asymmetry（~1） was exhibited by Mg 0.5 wt.% Zr（1 and 2.5） wt.% La alloys.

Alteration of somatostatin receptor subtype 2 gene expression in pancreatic tumor angiogenesis

AIM: To explore the difference of somatostatin receptor subtype 2 (SST2R) gene expression in pancreatic cancerous tissue and its adjacent tissue, and the relationship between the change of SST2R gene expression and pancreatic tumor angiogenesis related genes. METHODS: The expressions of SST2R, DPC4, p53 and ras genes in cancer tissues of 40 patients with primary pancreatic cancer, and the expression of SST2R gene in its adjacent tissue were determined by immunohistochemiscal LSAB method and EnVisionTM method. Chi-square test was used to analyze the difference in expression of SST2R in pancreatic cancer tissue and its adjacent tissue, and the correlation of SST2R gene expression with the expression of p53, ras and DPC4 ***: Of the tissue specimens from 40 patients with primary pancreatic cancer, 35 (87.5%) cancer tissues showeda negative expression of SST2R gene, whereas 34 (85%) a positive expression of SST2R gene in its adjacent tissues. Five (12.5%) cancer tissues and its adjacent tissues simultaneously expressed SST2R. The expression of SST2R gene was markedly higher in pancreatic tissues adjacent to cancer than in pancreatic cancer tissues (P0.05). CONCLUSION: There was a significant difference of SST2R gene expression in pancreatic cancer tissues and its adjacent tissues, which might be one cause for the different therapeutic effects of somatostatin and its analogs on pancreatic cancer patients. There were abnormal expressions of SST2R, DPC4, p53 and ras genes in pancreatic carcinogenesis, and moreover, the loss or decrease of SST2R gene expression was significantly negatively correlated with the overexpression of tumor angiogenesis correlated p53 and ras genes, suggesting that SST2R gene togethe

Expression of TREM-1 mRNA in acute pancreatitis

AIM: To explore the expression of triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells (TREM-I) mRNA in acute pancreatitis (AP).METHODS: Using the reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), we examined the expression of TREM-1 mRNA in 10 cases of mild acute pancreatitis (MAP), 8 cases of severe acute pancreatitis (SAP), and 10 cases of healthy control subjects. And we also examined the expression of TREM-1 mRNA in 14 cases of AP (including 10 MAP and 4 SAP) before treatment, after successful therapy and clinically ***: The expression of TREM-1 mRNA in the groups of MAP, SAP patients and healthy control subjects was 0.771±0.274, 1.092±0.331 and 0.459±0.175, respectively;there was a significant difference among the three groups (P<0.05). And there was also a significant difference between the AP patients (0.914±0.341) and healthy control subjects (0.459+0.175) (P<0.05). Moreover, in the 14 cases of AP, before treatment, after successful therapy and clinically cured, the expression of TREM-1 mRNA was 0.905±0.226,0.739±0.169 and 0.633±0.140, respectively, and there was a significant difference among the three stages (P<0.05).CONCLUSION: The expression of TREM-1 mRNA in the patients with AP increases obviously, and correlates with the degree of AP. Furthermore, the expression of TREM-1 mRNA is distinctly different at the different stages of AP. It indicates TREM-1 may play an important role in the occurrence and development of AP.

This paper presents a new low delay centralized cooperative spectrum sensing method based on dynamic voting rule using multiple threshold level,for indoor hospital environment,where fading and direct path loss both are together responsible for variation in signal *** the proposed algorithm,weights of Cognitive Radios(CRs)in terms of assigned votecount are estimated based on the sensed energy values with respect to multiple fixed threshold levels,so that the direct path loss can be dealt without further increasing the error,which occurs due to *** indoor hospital like environment,Rician fading model is more ***,formulation,evaluation and analysis of various sensing performance parameters have been carried out considering Rician fading *** analysis and tradeoff among three optimum parameters-energy threshold,total number of CRs participating in sensing and total error rate,are presented with respect to signal to noise ratio(SNR).Finally,the Monte Carlo simulation is designed and implemented considering the two conditions-only fading environment and fading along with direct path loss *** can be observed that in both cases,the proposed spectrum sensing rule outperforms the other contemporary rules.
