Stream-dwelling fungal decomposer communities along a gradient of eutrophication unraveled by 454 pyrosequencing

Microbial decomposers,especially a fungal group called aquatic hyphomycetes,play a critical role in processing plant litter in freshwaters by increasing its palatability to invertebrate ***,communities of aquatic hyphomycetes have been assessed through the identification of spores,which misses non-sporulating *** new technologies,454 pyrosequencing stands out as most promising for large-scale species ***,very few attempts have been made to validate its effectiveness for assessing the diversity of stream-dwelling fungal *** attempted to gain greater insight into the diversity of aquatic fungal communities in streams exposed to various degrees of eutrophication by using the 454 pyrosequencing technology.A total of 173,889 ITS2 pyrosequencing reads with hits for fungi were obtained from the 5 investigated *** majority of operational taxonomic units(OTUs)belonged to Ascomycota and the identification to the genus level was achieved for 169 *** the total,135,257 reads(ca.78%)showed close affinities to aquatic hyphomycete *** showed declining fungal diversity in the most eutrophic streams,which was congruent with a reduced diversity found through spore *** patterns revealed by connecting representative OTUs to ITS sequences from aquatic hyphomycetes were similar to those determined by traditional spore identification ***,454 pyrosequencing provided a more comprehensive view of fungal diversity;it captured almost twice as many taxa as spore *** study vali-dates the effectiveness of 454 pyrosequencing for surveying the diversity of stream-dwelling fungal decomposer *** application may accelerate the use of these communities for monitoring the integrity of freshwaters.

The oxalate co-precipitation method was used to synthesize the La3+substituted Ni-cu-Zn(La-NcZ)nanoferrites having chemical composition Ni_(0.7)cu_(0.1)Zn_(0.2)LaxFe_(2-x)O_(4)(x=0.015,0.025 and 0.035).Dc resistivity study of nanoferrites shows both the conducting and semiconducting *** room temperature Dc electrical resistivity of Ni-cu-Zn(NcZ)nanoferrites decreases,whereas curie temperature increases with increasing La^(3+)*** the temperature range of 30-170℃nanoferrites show p-type semiconducting behavior except x=0.015;thereafter,they show n-type *** frequency dispersive initial permeability(μi)associated with its real and imaginary(μ’andμ")parts are attributed to the domain wall movement and magnetic spin ***μi,u’andμ"of La-NcZ nanoferrites are higher than those of pure NcZ *** constant(ε’),dielectric loss(ε")and Ac resistivity(ρAc)of La-NcZ nanoferrites show normal dielectric *** is found thatε’of NcZ nanoferrites decreases with the increasing content of La3+*** bandgap energy of La-NcZ nanoferrites is achieved in the range 1.36-1.70 eV confirming the semiconducting nature of materials.

MOTIONS OF ALLOYING ADDITIONS IN GAS STIRRED LADLES

A mathematical model has been developed to analyze the flow patterns and subsurface trajectories of spherical shaped particles (alloy additions) in gas stirring ladles. First, a numerical method to solve fluid flow problems in conjunction with a curvilinear coordinate system is proposed. The internal boundary in flow field, which must be designated in the cylindrical polar coordinate system, can be avoided by using body- fitted coordinate system (bFc). consequently, computed flow of molten steel and paths of alloying additions are able to cross smoothly the geometric centerline of cylindrical vessel. Second, motion of particles is calculated in the three-dimensional coordinate system, the modification of parameters, such as the drag coefficient and density in the gas plume region, is examined. When the density of sphere is closer and closer to that of fluid, the path of motion is longer and longer. If the plug is moved off-centered to the half of radius, the path of sphere is prolonged, and the sphere may go through the geometric centerline of vessel, reach the deeper region. The immersed depths increase with increasing entry velocities.

The Ekomedion two-mica granite,southwestern cameroon,has potential for uranium and molybdenum ***,we present LA-IcP-MS U-Pb ages,Lu-Hf isotope characteristics,trace element concentrations and Ti-geothermometry of zircon from this granite hosting U-Mo mineralization in pegmatitic *** majority of zircon are cL-dark though some cL-bright cores were also identified.U-Pb zircon age data range from 121±3 to743±11 Ma with only 5 of 34 ages being near *** concordant mean age of 603±12 Ma is similar to ages of granitic intrusions along the central African Shear Zone in *** ages with mean of261±6 Ma reveal open system behavior with respect to Pb and/or *** e Hfi values range from-20.3 *** implies that U-Mo was remobilized during partial melting of the surrounding *** Th/U>0.1 as well as an increasing Hf with decreasing Th/U indicates that fractional crystallization was the main factor that controlled U-Mo mineralization in pegmatitic pods.Y and Y/Ho ratios cluster from 29 to 33 close to the chondritic ratio of 28 and indicate fractionation of Y and Ho with low F contents during the earliest stages of *** stage accumulation of F-rich magmatic-hydrothermal fluids impacted U-Mo mineralization as a *** contains a prominent negative Eu anomaly pointing to a fractionating system rich in *** Ti-in-zircon temperatures span 672℃to1232℃with the temperatures at the high end reflecting interference from mineral inclusions in the zircon grains while the lower temperature values are linked to crystallization.

Petrogenesis of shoshonitic granitoids,eastern India:Implications for the late Grenvillian post-collisional magmatism

Many elongated, lenticular plutons of porphyritic granitoids are distributed mainly near the southern and northern margin of the chhotanagpur Gneissic complex （cGc） which belongs to the EW to ENE-WSW tending 1500 km long Proterozoic orogenic belt amalgamat ng the North and South Indian cratonic blocks. The late Grenvillian （1071 ±64 Ma） Raghunathpur porphyritic granitoid gneiss （PGG） batholith comprising alkali feldspar granite, granite, granodiorite, tonalite, quartz syenite and quartz monzonite intruded into the granitoid gneisses of southeastern part of cGc in the Purulia district, West bengal and is aligned with ENE-WSW trending North Purulia sr^ear zone, Mineral chemistry, geochemistry, physical condition of crystallization and petrogenetic model of Raghunathpur PGG have been discussed for the first time. The petrographic and geochemical features （including major and trace- elements, mineral chemistry and S7Sr/S6Sr ratio） suggest these granitoids to be classified as the shosh- onitic type. Raghunathpur batholith was emplaced at around 800 ~c and at 6 kbar pressure tectonic discrimination diagrams reveal a post-collision tectonic setting while structural studies reveal its emplacement in the extensional fissure of North Purulia shear zone. l＇he Raghunathpur granitoid is compared with some similar granitoids of Europe and china to draw its petrogenetic model. Hybridi- zation of mantle-generated enriched mafic magma and crustal magma at lower crust and later fractional crystallization is proposed for the petrogenesis of this PGG. Mafic magma generated in a post-collisional extension possibly because of delamination of subducting slab. Raghunathpur batholith had emplaced in the cGc during the final amalgamation （~ 1.0 Ga） of the North and South Indian cratonic blocks. Granitoid magma, after its generation at depth, was transported to its present level along megadyke channel, ways within shear zones.

Designing ultrastrong maraging stainless steels with improved uniform plastic strain via controlled precipitation of coherent nanoparticles

The development of ultrastrong maraging stainless steels(MSSs)is always in high ***,traditional high-strength MSSs generally exhibit early plastic instability with a low uniform strain since the precipitated nanoparticles are non-coherent with the body-centered-cubic(bcc)lath martensitic ***,we design a novel ultrahigh strength MSS(Fe-5.30 cr-13.47 Ni-3.10 Al-1.22 Mo-0.50 W-0.23 Nb-0.03 c-0.005 b,wt.%)using a cluster formula approach.A fabulous microstructure consisting of a uniform distribution of high-density coherent b2-Ni Al nanoprecipitates(3-5 nm)in bcc martensitic matrix was successfully *** alloy has not only an exceedingly high ultimate tensile strength of 2.0 GPa,but also a decent uniform elongation of 4.2%-5.1%,which is almost triple of the value observed in existing *** present an in-depth discussion on the origins of ultrahigh strength and uniform plastic strain in the new alloy to validate our design strategy and further offer a new pathway to exploit highperformance MSSs.

bioconvection research is primarily focused on the augmentation of energy and mass species,which has implications in the processes intensification,mechanical,civil,electronics,and chemical engineering *** bioconvection technology sectors include cooling systems for electronic devices,building insulation,and geothermal nuclear waste ***,the present investigation is mainly discoursing the impact of Marangoni convention casson nanoliquid flow under gyrotactic microorganisms over the porous *** partial differential equations(PDEs)are re-structured into ordinary differential equations(ODEs)via suitable similar *** ODEs are numerically solved with the help of the spectral relaxation method(SRM).The numerical outcomes are illustrated graphically for various parameters over velocity,temperature,concentration,and bioconvection ***-dimensional(3 D)views of important engineering parameters are illustrated for various *** velocity of the casson nanoliquid increases with increasing the Marangoni parameter but decreases against higher porosity *** surface drag force enhances for enhancement in the Marangoni *** rate of mass transmission is higher for reaction rate constraint but diminishes for activation energy *** higher radiative values augment the rate of heat transmission.

Numerical investigation into the effect of backfilling on coal pillar strength in highwall mining

This paper attempts to quantify the effect of backfilling on pillar strength in highwall mining using numerical modelling. calibration against the new empirical strength formula for highwall mining was conducted to obtain the material parameters used in the numerical modelling. With the obtained coal strength parameters, three sets of backfill properties were investigated. The results reveal that the behavior of pillars varies with the type and amount of backfill as well as the pillar width to mining height ratio(w/h). In case of cohesive backfill, generally 75% backfill shows a significant increase in peak strength, and the increase in peak strength is more pronounced for the pillars having lower w/h ratios. In case of noncohesive backfill, the changes in both the peak and residual strengths with up to 92% backfill are negligible while the residual strength constantly increases after reaching the peak strength only when 100%backfill is placed. based on the modelling results, different backfilling strategies should be considered on a case by case basis depending on the type of backfill available and desired pillar dimension.

Investigation on collision of Si^(2+)with H from Intermediate to High Projectile Energies

Total and state-selective charge transfer,ionization and stripping cross sections due to the collision of Si^(2+)ion with atomic hydrogen are investigated using the classical-trajectory Monte-carlo(cTMc)method in the collision energy from 1 keV/amu to 10 MeV/*** electron capture rate coefficient is obtained in the temperature range from 105 Ko to 108 *** with the data available shows that our cTMc results are *** behaviors for these cross sections varying with the projectile energy are analyzed.A classical physical picture is presented to explain the reason behind the behaviors.
