Complications and its risk factors of percutaneous subclavian vein catheters in pediatric patients:enhancing the outcomes of a university hospital in a low-income and middle-income country

Objective Assessing central venous catheter-related complications with regular feedback and investigating risk factors are mandatory to enhance *** aim of this study is to assess our experience in the management of pediatric subclavian vein catheters(SVCs)and to investigate the main risk factors for *** In this prospective observational study,we included children aged 3 months to 14 years who underwent infraclavicular subclavian vein catheterization consecutively using the anatomic landmark *** were divided into two groups:group 1 included complicated catheters and group 2 included noncomplicated *** management protocol was standardized for all *** comparing the two groups,univariate and multivariate logistic regression were used to investigate the risk factors for *** In this study,we included 134 pediatric *** rate of complications was 32.8%.The main complications were central line-associated bloodstream infection(63.6%),bleeding and/or hematoma(22.7%),mechanical complications(13.6%),and vein thrombosis(13.6%).After adjustment for confounding factors,predictors of catheter-related complications were difficult insertion procedure(adjusted odds ratio(aOR)=9.4;95%confidential interval(CI):2.32 to 38.4),thrombocytopenia(aOR=4.43;95%CI:1.16 to 16.86),comorbidities(aOR=2.93;95%CI:0.58 to 14.7),and neutropenia(aOR=5.45;95%CI:2.29 to 13.0).Conclusions High rates of complications were associated with difficult catheter placement and patients with comorbidities and severe *** reduce catheter-related morbidity,we suggest an ultrasoundguided approach,a multidisciplinary teaching program to improve nursing skills,and the use of less invasive devices for patients with cancer.

Predictors of perioperative respiratory adverse events among children with upper respiratory tract infection undergoing pediatric ambulatory ilioinguinal surgery:a prospective observational research

Engagement Detection Based on Analyzing Micro Body Gestures Using 3D CNN

This paper proposes a novel,efficient and affordable approach to detect the students’engagement levels in an e-learning environment by using *** method analyzes spatiotemporal features of e-learners’micro body gestures,which will be mapped to emotions and appropriate engagement *** proposed engagement detection model uses a three-dimensional convolutional neural network to analyze both temporal and spatial information across video *** follow a transfer learning approach by using the C3D model that was trained on the Sports-1M *** adopted C3D model was used based on two different approaches;as a feature extractor with linear classifiers and a classifier after applying fine-tuning to the pretrained *** model was tested and its performance was evaluated and compared to the existing *** proved its effectiveness and superiority over the other existing methods with an accuracy of 94%.The results of this work will contribute to the development of smart and interactive e-learning systems with adaptive responses based on users’engagement levels.

Tribological Behavior of CoCr28Mo/CoCr28Mo Pair in the Presence of Bio-lubrication

The tribological behavior of the CoCr28Mo/CoCr28Mo pair was studied using pin-on-disc tribometer. Four bio-lubricants were re- tained including pure sesame oil, nigella oil, physiological solution （0.9% NaC1） and Hyalgan. Hyalgan is a sodium hyaluronate （20 mg/2 mL） pharmaceutical intra-articular injection used, in this study, as a reference. The Coefficient of Friction （CoF） and wear rate （K） of CoCr28Mo were computed after tribological tests. The tribological efficiency of vegetable oils with regard to their chemical compo- sition and structure was compared to Hyalgan. It is found that, the use of vegetable oils enhanced significantly the tribological behavior of CoCr28Mo/CoCr28Mo pair. The obtained results were correlated to the chemical structure of vegetable oils namely the Unsaturations Number （UN） of fatty acids constituting the oil. Microscopic and chemical characterization of CoCr28Mo pins and discs were conducted and the wear mechanism was discussed.

The world airport network（WAN） is one of the networked infrastructures that shape today＇s economic and social activity, so its resilience against incidents affecting the WAN is an important problem. In this paper, the robustness of air route networks is extended by defining and testing several heuristics to define selection criteria to detect the critical nodes of the *** addition to heuristics based on genetic algorithms and simulated annealing, custom heuristics based on node damage and node betweenness are defined. The most effective heuristic is a multiattack heuristic combining both custom heuristics. Results obtained are of importance not only for advance in the understanding of the structure of complex networks, but also for critical node detection.

Nonlinear Coordinated Passivation Control of Single Machine Infinite Bus Power System with Static Var Compensator

We propose a nonlinear coordinated control of the generator excitation and the static var compensator(SVC) in order to enhance the transient stability and voltage regulation of power system by the passivation approach. SVC is installed in the middle of the transmission line of power system and consists of a single machine infinite bus(SMIB) system. The design of the proposed controller consists of two parts. On one hand,the generator excitation controller is designed based on a backstepping controller. On the other hand, the conception of SVC control input is based on the coordinated passivation approach,which can guarantee the asymptotic stability of the closed-loop system. The simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed controller compared with other methods, which ensures better performance than the uncoordinated control when the system is subjected to a disturbance.
