Objective:To provide a current survey of parasitic infections in the Mediterranean needlefish Tylosurus acus imperialis(*** imperialis).The impact of host’s size and sex on some characteristics of the infection was also ***:Between 2004 and 2009,126 specimens of *** imperialis were necropsied to study their ***:Fifteen species of metazoan parasites were collected including 3 monogeneans(Aspinatrium gallieni,Nudaciraxine imperium and Axinoides sp.),4 digeneans(Lecithostaphylus tylosuri,Tetrochetus coryphaenae,Oesophagotrema mediterranea and Sclerodistomoides pacificus),1 cestode(Ptychobothrium sp.),3 copepods(Lernanthropus tylosuri,Caligodes laciniatus and Caligus sp.),1 isopod(Irona nana),1 acanthocephalan(Rhadinorhynchus sp.),1 nematode(anisakid larvae)and 1 annelid(piscicolid).Cestoda Ptychobothrium *** the most frequent species(72%).Prevalence and abundance of infection with Ptychobothrium *** Rhadinorhynchus *** positively correlated with the total length of the ***’s sex did not seem to affect the infection parameters of parasites in *** ***:This study provides first information on parasitic infections in the Mediterranean needlefish *** imperialis off *** can be used to understand phylogeny,biology and ecology of fish host and also as bioindicators of water quality.

Objective:To present the first information on the feeding habits of the Mediterranean needlefish Tylosurus acus imperialis(***)of Tunisia and to examine the diet variation in relation to the fish size,maturity and ***:Gut contents of 92 specimens of ***,collected mainly from May 2004 to July 2006 off the Gulf of Gabès,Southeastern Tunisian coast,were ***:The results showed that 55.4%of them had empty guts and 44.6%contained food in their *** emptiness index did not vary significantly according to size classes or sexes of *** food consisted of teleosts(Mugilidae,Gobidae and Belonidae)(59.63%)followed by crustaceans(40.24%),mostly decapods Sycionia carinata(5.42%).A decrease in the feeding rate at the peak of the spawning season was observed for both sexes.A diet variation among juvenile and adult specimens of *** was ***:This study enhances our knowledge on the biology of the Mediterranean needlefish *** fish is an active predator and an opportunistic feeder but the feeding rate declines at the peak of the spawning season.

The tribological behavior of the CoCr28Mo/CoCr28Mo pair was studied using pin-on-disc tribometer. Four bio-lubricants were re- tained including pure sesame oil, nigella oil, physiological solution （0.9% NaC1） and Hyalgan. Hyalgan is a sodium hyaluronate （20 mg/2 mL） pharmaceutical intra-articular injection used, in this study, as a reference. The Coefficient of Friction （CoF） and wear rate （K） of CoCr28Mo were computed after tribological tests. The tribological efficiency of vegetable oils with regard to their chemical compo- sition and structure was compared to Hyalgan. It is found that, the use of vegetable oils enhanced significantly the tribological behavior of CoCr28Mo/CoCr28Mo pair. The obtained results were correlated to the chemical structure of vegetable oils namely the Unsaturations Number （UN） of fatty acids constituting the oil. Microscopic and chemical characterization of CoCr28Mo pins and discs were conducted and the wear mechanism was discussed.

The world airport network（WAN） is one of the networked infrastructures that shape today＇s economic and social activity, so its resilience against incidents affecting the WAN is an important problem. In this paper, the robustness of air route networks is extended by defining and testing several heuristics to define selection criteria to detect the critical nodes of the *** addition to heuristics based on genetic algorithms and simulated annealing, custom heuristics based on node damage and node betweenness are defined. The most effective heuristic is a multiattack heuristic combining both custom heuristics. Results obtained are of importance not only for advance in the understanding of the structure of complex networks, but also for critical node detection.

Feelings influence human beings’decision-making;therefore,incorporation of feeling factors in decision-making is very *** and rejoice are very important emotional feelings that can have a great impact on decision-making if they are considered *** regret has received most of the attention in related research,rejoice has been less considered even though it can greatly influence people’s preferences in ***,systematically incorporating regret and rejoice in the multicriteria decision-making(MCDM)modeling frameworks for decision-making has received little research *** this paper,we introduce a new multiattribute selection procedure that incorporates both regret and rejoice to select the best *** utilize the positional advantage operator concept to develop regret and rejoice mathematical equations,and prove *** proposed MCDM procedure that incorporates these two emotional factors offers a decision-maker the flexibility to trade off some benefits in order to gain a state of psychological *** specifically,regret and rejoice are presentedmathematically to enable the decision-maker to determine the values of regret and rejoice,and then make the decision in which the rejoice value is higher than the regret *** test the performance of this new procedure,we apply it to three numerical examples proposed in previous *** results are matched with those obtained by other methods such as the regret model,VIKOR,PROMETHEE I,and PROMETHEE II,thereby proving the efficacy of the new procedure.

This paper considers the production of biomass of two interconnected chemostats in series with biomass mortality and a growth kinetic of the biomass described by an increasing function.A comparison is made with the productivity of a single chemostat with the same mortality rate and with volume equal to the sum of the volumes of the two *** determine the operating conditions under which the productivity of the serial configuration is greater than the productivity of the single ***,the differences and similarities in the results corresponding to the case with mortality and the one without mortality,are *** mortality leads to surprising results where the productivity of a steady state where the bacteria are washed out in the first chemostat is greater than the one where the bacteria are present in both chemostats.

Objective: To study in vitro anti-hydatic and immunomodulatory effects of ginger and [6]-gingerol as an alternative therapy for Cystic echinococcosis. Methods: Effect of a commonly used herbal product and ginger(Zingiber officinale) towards protoscoleces(PSC) and cyst wall in vitro was studied. The effect of [6]-gingerol, and the pungent constituent of ginger, was also evaluated on PSC culture. Furthermore, the activity of both extracts in association with interferon-gamma(IFN-γ) on PSC co-cultured with mononuclear cells of hydatic patients was evaluated. The nitric oxide(NO) production was measured in each co-culture. Results: Ginger exhibited a concentration- and time-dependent cytotoxic effect against PSC and cyst wall. Interestingly, ginger was more effective than the [6]-gingerol. Moreover, additional parasitic effect between extracts and IFN-γ are also observed in co-cultures. Furthermore, both extracts attenuated the NO production elicited by this infection or by the IFN-γ. Conclusions: Ginger has an important anti-hydatic effect in vitro. This effect is amplified in the presence of IFN-γ. Moreover, this herbal product may protect against host's cell death by reducing the high levels of NO. Ginger may act, at least, through the [6]-gingerol. All our data suggest the promising use of ginger in the treatment of Echinococcus granulosus infection.
