Background:Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is the most common cause of cancer-related death in saudi *** study aimed to investigate the patterns of HCC and the effect of TNM staging,Alfa-fetoprotein(AFP),and Child-Turcotte Pugh(CTP)on patients’overall survival(Os).Methods:A retrospective analysis was conducted on 43 HCC patients at a single oncology center in saudi Arabia from 2015 to *** patients had to fulfill one of the following criteria:(a)a liver lesion reported as definitive HCC on dynamic imaging and/or(b)a biopsy-confirmed ***:The mean patient age of all HCC cases was 66.8 with a male-to-female ratio of 3.3:*** patients were stratified into two groups:viral HCC(n=22,51%)and non-viral HCC(n=21,49%).Among viral-HCC patients,55%were due to HBV and 45%due to *** was diagnosed in 79%of *** and sex did not significantly statistically differ in Os among viral and non-viral HCC patients(p-value>0.05).About 65%of patients had tumor size>5 cm during the diagnosis,with a significant statistical difference in Os(p-value=0.027).AFP was>400 ng/ml in 45%of the *** was a statistically significant difference in the Os in terms of AFP levels(p-value=0.021).A statistically significant difference was also observed between the CTP score and Os(p-value=0.02).CTP class B had the longest *** was the most common treatment provided to HCC patients followed by sorafenib *** was a significant statistical difference in Os among viral and non-viral HCC patients(p-value=0.008).Conclusions:The most common predictors for Os were the underlying cause of HCC,AFP,and tumor *** having non-viral etiology,a tumor size>5 cm,an AFP>400 ng/mL,and a CTP score class C were all negatively associated with Os.

＜正＞The delivery performance of suppliers has significant impact on a manufacturer’s ability to meet its customer delivery expectations. The concept of enhancing the ability to deliver products on time is a critical competitive strategy for a manufacturing organization. However, the focus of most supplier development efforts is primarily on the average values of the delivery performance metrics and few efforts have been conducted to investigate the variation within the supplier delivery function. It is the variability in supplier delivery performance that hampers manufacturer’s competitiveness due to resulting excessive inventory, wasted resources and long lead-time. The multiple sources of this variability have made it even more profound as it is propagated over multiple parts from multiple suppliers. This paper proposes a model that utilizes simulation modeling within a Bill of Materials （BOM） structure to perform statistical analysis to prioritize supplier development efforts according to their impacts on manufacturer’s performance. A case study is presented based on applying the proposed model to an assembly-based system.

Factors associated with change in frailty scores and long-term outcomes in older adults with coronary artery disease

OBJECTIVE Older adults with coronary artery disease(CAD)are at risk for ***,little is known regarding transition in frailty measures over time or its impact on *** sought to determine the association of temporal change in frailty with long-term outcome in older adults with *** We re-assessed for phenotypic frailty using the Fried index(0=not frail;1−2=pre-frail;≥3 frail)in a cohort of CAD patients≥65 years old at 2 time points 5 years *** associated with frailty worsening were assessed with scatterplots and outcomes estimated using the Kaplan-Meier *** models were used to assess the risk of worsening frailty on *** There were 45 subjects that completed both baseline and 5-year Fried frailty *** age was 74.6±5.9 and 30(67%)were *** incidence increased over time:baseline(3%frail,37%pre-frail);5 years(10%frail,40%pre-frail).Baseline factors were not predictors of worsening frailty score,while both slower walk time(r=0.46;P=0.004)and diminishing grip strength(r=−0.39;P=0.01)were associated with worsening frailty *** follow-up(median 5.2 years),long-term major adverse cardiac event(MACE)free survival(P=0.12)or hospitalization(P=0.98)was not different for those with worsening frailty score(referent:improved/unchanged frailty).Frailty worsening had a trend towards increased risk of MACE(HR=1.86;95%CI:0.65−5.27,P=0.25).CONCLUsIONs Frailty transitions,specifically,declines in walk time and grip strength,were strongly associated with worsening frailty score in a cohort of older adults with CAD than were baseline indices,though frailty change status was not independently associated with MACE outcomes.

Noncommutativity and its role in constant-roll inflation models with non-minimal coupling constrained by swampland conjectures

In this paper, using Hamiltonian formalism, we obtain solutions for constant-roll inflation according to the noncommutativity and the non-minimal coupling field of the Lagrangian. We consider three different types of couplings: power-law, exponential, and logarithmic. subsequently, by plotting some figures, we study the effects of these coupling in constant-roll inflation with noncommutative parameters. We identify and specify the permissible regions of each case of the swampland conjecture and determine the best model. We find that the exponential, logarithmic, and power-law couplings with θ>0 ar results in both cases, some of which are compatible and some incompatible with the ds swampland ***,θ>0 is more compatible than θsistency value in the second boundary condition is much higher than in the first. The order of better compatibility of couplings with the swampland conjecture is ranked as follows: exponential non-minimal coupling, logarithmic non-minimal coupling, and power-law non-minimal coupling. For each type of coupling, we calculate the values of the scalar spectral index n s and the tensor-to-scalar ratio r for two different potentials and compare them with the observational data from Planck 2018. We also determine the range of the free parameters(a, b, q)model consistent with the conjecture. We find that the model satisfies the FRDssC for all types of couplings and both potentials, with some constraints on the parameters.

Prevalence and haemato—biochemical profile of Anaplasma marginale infection in dairy animals of Punjab(India)

Objective:To do the systematic comparison of prevalence of anaplasmosis by PCR and Giemsa stained thin blood smear(GsTBs) based parasitological assays in dairy cattle of Punjab,which has not been reported *** analyse the haematobiochemical alterations in infected animals to arrive at the conclusion regarding the pathogenicity induced by Anaplasma marginale (***) in latent and patent ***:study was conducted on 320 animals (236 cows,62 calves and 22 buffaloes) of Punjab,*** on genome of *** was performed by targeting msp1βgene using specific primers BAP-2/AL34s,amplifies products of size 407 *** based data on the characteristics of the infected animals and management strategies of the farm were collected and ***:Higher prevalence and more significant association was observed in the PCR based molecular diagnosis(P=0.00012) as compared to that in GsTBs(P=0.028 8) based diagnosis with various regions under *** respect to the regions,highest prevalence was recorded in Ferozepur by PCR based diagnosis, while that in Jalandhar by GsTBs *** marked significant association of the PCR based diagnosis with the age of the animals under study(P=0.00013) was observed elucidating no inverse age resistance to *** in cow *** profile of infected animals revealed marked anemia,liver dysfunction and increase globulin concentrate indicating rise in immunoglobulin level to counteract ***:PCR is far more sensitive in detecting the disease even in latent infection which may act as nidus for spread of anaplasmosis to susceptible animals in endemic *** of anaemia and liver dysfunction were comparable both in patent as well as latent infection indicating pathogenicity of both.

Assessing the Effectiveness of solar Photovoltaic Powered Reverse Osmosis Desalination systems across Different Water Resources in saudi Arabia

This study investigates the performance of a solar photovoltaic (PV)-powered reverse osmosis (RO) desalination system applied to diverse water sources in the Al-Baha region, saudi Arabia, including seawater, groundwater, rainwater, municipal water, and brackish water. Key water quality parameters including Total Dissolved solids (TDs), pH, Electrical Conductivity (EC), salinity, and specific Gravity (sG) were measured before and after desalination to assess system effectiveness. Results showed significant reductions in TDs, EC, and salinity levels across all water types, with seawater and brackish water achieving salt rejection rates of 98.32% and 99.16%, respectively. Post-desalination TDs for seawater decreased from 25,000 mg/L to 420 mg/L and for brackish water from 11,900 mg/L to 100 mg/L, achieving potable standards. pH values remained stable within potable standards, while EC values for seawater and brackish water dropped from 50,000 µs/cm to 484 µs/cm and from 12,000 µs/cm to 95 µs/cm, respectively. Water recovery rates varied from 70% to 95.33%, with the highest recovery observed in rainwater and groundwater samples. The overall desalination efficiency was highest for seawater and brackish water, at 82.96% and 84.5%, respectively, demonstrating the PV-RO system’s capability to provide high-quality, potable water from a variety of sources. This study underscores the potential of solar-powered RO technology as a sustainable solution for desalination in regions with diverse water sources and limited access to electricity.

Reproducibility is a key aspect of the scientific method as it provides evidence for research claims. It is essential to promote openness, accessibility, and collaboration within the scientific community. This article aims to provide an introduction to best practices in reproducibility that are relevant to the transportation research community, to discuss issues and barriers to reproducibility, and to describe methods for addressing these issues. This article starts by discussing openness and transparency, then discusses several key best practices for reproducibility in transportation engineering, highlighting common methods and techniques, as well as the associated benefits. The paper concludes with a discussion of the key barriers to implementing reproducibility practices in transportation research and potential solutions. The barriers include existing culture and attitudes, data sensitivity, insufficient methodological detail, lack of code sharing, limited validation, additional time and research burden, and skill and knowledge gaps. Discussing each of these items provides an opportunity for the transportation research community to evolve to become one that embraces the openness and transparency of reproducibility.
