Background:The carob tree(Ceratonia siliqua L.)is one of the most iconic tree species of the Mediterranean region,with valuable economic,ecological and cultural *** has been exploited around the Mediterranean region since antiquity and has been regarded as an important component of natural habitats and traditional *** studies have focused on its morphological,biochemical,and genetic ***,less is known about the intraspecific variation of seed *** this regard,and as an overall objective,we intend to evaluate the amplitude and the expression of intraspecific variations of carob seed traits at different ecological scales ranging from individual trees to different geographical *** addition,we investigated how the climate along the study area affects the extent of carob seed *** image analysis techniques,we measured seven traits related to the size and the shape of 1740 seeds collected from 18 populations of spontaneous *** distributed along a latitudinal transect in Morocco under different bioclimatic ***:The morphometric analysis of carob seed showed the effectiveness of adopted approach to highlight the amount and the amplitude of intraspecific variation according to geographic and climatic *** trait analysis revealed high intraspecific variability,explained by differences between and among carob populations and geographic *** area,perimeter,length,and width showed the largest variability between geographic ***,circularity,aspect ratio,and seed roundness showed higher variability at the tree ***,our results show that seed traits vary depending on altitude and climate ***:Revealing the amount and the structure of intraspecific traits variability of carob seed provides interesting insights to understand the mechanisms underlying trees adaptation to various environmental and ecological ***,intraspecific variatio

Parabolic Trough Collector and Central Receiver Coupled with Fresnel Lens:Experimental Tests

Renewable energies have a high impact on power energy production and reduction of environmental pollution worldwide,so high efforts have been made to improve renewable technologies and research about *** paper presents the thermal performance results obtained by simulation and experimental tests of a parabolic trough collector with central receiver coupled to Fresnel lens,under different configurations on the *** simulation method was computational fluid dynamics(CFD)analysis in SolidWorks(R)soft-ware tool,which works with Naiver-Stokes equations to converge on a *** tests were formed with all configurations proposed and three observations for each one,a total of 12 observations were performed in all *** a result,the best thermal performance in simulation was achieved with the Fresnel lens and black pipe collector,with a maximum temperature of 116℃under 1000 W/m^2 radiation,the same system achieved in experimental tests a maximum temperature of 96℃with a radiation of 983 W/m^2.

Cross-Layer Framework for Fine-Grained Channel Access in Next Generation High-Density Wi Fi Networks

Densely deployed Wi Fi networks will play a crucial role in providing the capacity for next generation mobile internet. However, due to increasing interference, overlapped channels in Wi Fi networks and throughput efficiency degradation, densely deployed Wi Fi networks is not a guarantee to obtain higher throughput. An emergent challenge is how to effi ciently utilize scarce spectrum resources, by matching physical layer resources to traffi c demand. In this aspect, access control allocation strategies play a pivotal role but remain too coarse-grained. As a solution, this research proposes a flexible framework for fine-grained channel width adaptation and multi-channel access in Wi Fi networks. This approach, named SFCA(Subcarrier Fine-grained Channel Access), adopts DOFDM(Discontinuous Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) at the PHY layer. It allocates the frequency resource with a subcarrier granularity, which facilitates the channel width adaptation for multi-channel access and thus brings more fl exibility and higher frequency efficiency. The MAC layer uses a frequencytime domain backoff scheme, which combines the popular time-domain BEB scheme with a frequency-domain backoff to decrease access collision, resulting in higher access probability for the contending nodes. SFCA is compared with FICA(an established access scheme)showing significant outperformance. Finally we present results for next generation 802.11 ac Wi Fi networks.

Symplectic orbit propagation based on Deprit’s radial intermediary

The constantly challenging requirements for orbit prediction have opened the need for better onboard propagation ***-Kutta(RK)integrators have been widely used for this purpose;however RK integrators are not symplectic,which means that RK integrators may lead to incorrect global behavior and degraded *** from Deprit’s radial intermediary,obtained by the elimination of the parallax transformation,we present the development of symplectic integrators of different orders for spacecraft orbit *** a set of numerical simulations,it is shown that these integrators are more accurate and substantially faster than Runge-Kutta-based ***,it is also shown that the proposed integrators are more accurate than analytic propagation algorithms based on Deprit’s radial intermediary solution,and even other previously-developed symplectic integrators.

Glacier reconstruction of La Covacha Massif in Sierra de Gredos(central Spain) during the Last Glacial Maximum

A paleoglacier reconstruction during the Last Glacial Maximum(LGM) is presented for a high mountain area of La Covacha massif in Sierra de Gredos(Iberian Central System) in central Spain. The moraines that, according with the previous literature, had formed during the global LGM, were mapped through photo interpretation of digital aerial photographs and 3D images and detailed field surveys. The topography of the paleoglaciers was estimated using a simple steady-state model that assumed a perfectly plastic ice rheology, reconstructing the theoretical ice profiles and obtaining the ice thickness of the glaciers during the LGM. The reconstruction of the glaciers was carried out using automated and semi-automated physically-based models, obtaining more realistic results with semi-automated models. According to our study, the paleoglaciers in the study area covered an area of 34.79 km^2 during the global LGM, with a maximum ice thickness of 366 meters in La Vega gorge, a total volume of 34.25 × 108 m^3 and a mean paleoelA of 1932 meters. Most of the ice(~82%) was in paleoglaciers facing north, and the rest was in paleoglaciers with other orientations. This emphasizes the importance of orientation in relation to glacier dynamics and ice accumulation. The results obtained in the calculation of paleoelAs during the global LGM in Gredos are average compared to the Iberian mountains of the Northwest where the values were much lower, and with respect to those of the Southwest, much higher. This demonstrates the importance of the exposure of Mediterranean mountains to the humidity sources coming from the NW during the global LGM, as is the case at present.

MD Simulation of Structural and Mechanical Transformation of Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes Under Pressure

We investigate the structural and mechanical properties of single-walled carbon nanotubes(SWNTs)under hydrostatic pressure,using constant-pressure molecular dynamics(MD)*** observed that all the SWNTs,independent of their size and chirality,behave like a classical elastic ring exhibiting a buckling transition transforming their cross-sectional shape from a circle to an *** simulated critical transition pressure agrees well with the prediction from continuum mechanics theory,even for the smallest SWNT with a radius of *** the buckling shape transition,there is a mechanical hardness transition,upon which the radial moduli of the SWNTs decrease by two orders of *** increase of pressure will eventually lead to a second transition from an elliptical to a peanut *** ratio of the second shape transition pressure over the first one is found to be very close to a constant of∼1.2,independent of the tube size and chirality.

Enzymatic Hydrolysis of Sugarcane Biomass and Heat Integration as Enhancers of Ethanol Production

The aim of this study is to assess the possibility of increasing ethanol production by introducing the bagasse hydrolysis process into conventional *** were performed for mass and energy balances using Aspen Plus?*** was assumed that sugarcane trash and lignin cake—hydrolysis process residues—are available as supplementary *** cases were evaluated,including:(a)conventional ethanol distillery,(b)conventional plant combined with a hydrolysis process without heat integration,with different solid contents in the hydrolysis reactor,and(c)conventional plant combined with the hydrolysis process applying heat integration by pinch *** highest ethanol yield was achieved in the case of heat integration and concentration of cellulose hydrolysate by the membrane system with a solid content of 5%in the hydrolysis *** represents an increase of 22%over conventional distilleries currently found in the industry.

Receiver tube heat transfer analysis of a CCP collector designed based on branched fractals geometry

For the development of systems related to renewable energy and specifically for thermo-solar energy,it is essential to study and analyze the different thermal phenomena of heat transfer,in search of the best conditions that allow strengthening the *** such as radiation,convection,and conduction are highly studied,from the field of materials to the field of infrastructure,finding day to day optimal solutions that guarantee a great use of the solar resource available on the earth's *** study presented the results of heat transfer analysis on a receiver pipe in a CCP;designed using the theory of branched fractal geometry to improve the heat transfer associated with concentrating solar capture systems.A fractal structure as a branch or arboreal fractal type network,influenced thermal and electrical parameters,as electrical resistance,thermal resistance,and convective heat transfer,so increasing the level branch heat transfer can be enhancement along of the *** use of renewable energies in agriculture benefits the industrial processes that require a continuous power system,due to climatic conditions and geographical location is not a guarantee in food production fields,which reason solar capture systems contribute to food dehydration processes,water heating,refrigeration,and energy production.

Primary testicular lymphoma:Clinical characteristics and oncological outcomes

Background:Primary testicular lymphoma(PTL)is a rare testicular malignancy,despite being considered the most common testicular tumorin patients olderthan 60 *** testicularlymphoma represents only 1%-9%oftesticular *** studies have been published regarding its clinical features and *** study aimed to analyze the clinical characteristics and outcomes of *** and methods:Orchiectomy specimens of 15 patients with PTL diagnosed during 2000-2020 at our institution were retrospectively *** collected information on demographic data,clinical features,management aspects,and outcomes of PTL ***-Meier survival curves and Cox regression analyses were used to study ***:The median patient age was 69 years(interquartile range,61-72 years).The most prevalent clinical presentation was testicular swelling(80%),and only 13.33%of the patients presented with systemic *** system involvement was detected in 6 patients(40%).Of the 15 patients,5(33.33%)had stage IE and 10(66.67%)had stage IVE *** large B-cell lymphoma was the most common histological *** patients(80%)received *** follow-up,4 patients(26.67%)*** recurrence ratein the contralateraltesticle was 13.33%.The median cancer-specific survivalwas 21.58 months(95%confidence interval,0-43.95 months).Univariate Cox regression analysis showed that central nervous system involvement and International Prognostic Index score were significantly associated with shorter cancer-specific ***:Primary testicularlymphoma has a high relapse rate and poor *** strategies typicallyinclude radical orchiectomy and systemic *** nervous system involvement and International Prognostic Index scores were associated with lymphoma-specific survival.

Objective To describe the challenges in diagnosing concealed postpartum bleeding,a rare but potentially life-threatening condition,and to highlight key factors in identifying and managing this *** We reviewed clinical cases and diagnostic approaches where concealed postpartum bleeding was suspected,focusing on the role of imaging,serologic markers,and *** examined instances of hemodynamic instability,the utility of pelvic space analysis via computed tomography,and the limitations of digital angiography,particularly in identifying bleeding sources in the posterior iliac internal artery *** Concealed postpartum bleeding often originates from venous damage or,less commonly,arterial *** instability was noted to occur periodically,despite negative findings on vaginal examination and ultrasound,leading to diagnostic *** angiography often yields negative results when the focus is limited to the anterior division of the internal iliac *** typically arises from damage to the vaginal muscular layer or levator ani muscle,both supplied by branches of the internal pudendal artery(posterior iliac division).In some cases,laparotomy also failed to locate the source due to the bleeding being in the subperitoneal *** Concealed postpartum bleeding presents a diagnostic challenge due to intermittent hemodynamic instability and often negative imaging results.A detailed pelvic space analysis and awareness of posterior iliac internal artery involvement are *** expertise,along with serologic markers of hidden bleeding,is essential for timely diagnosis and management.
