The toxicological effect of dietary excess of saccharicterpenin,the extract of camellia seed meal,in piglets

Recently, saccharicterpenin extracted from Camellia oleifera seed meal has become a widely used feed supplement in animal husbandry. In order to assess its safety, this study was designed to investigate the toxicity and histopathological effects of saccharicterpenin on piglets. One hundred-fifty weaned pigs((Yorkshire×Landrace)×Duroc), 75 males and 75 females with body weight(BW) of(7.35±0.29) kg, were randomly allotted to groups receiving diets supplemented with 0, 500, 1 000, 2 500 or 5 000 mg kg^–1 saccharicterpenin for 70 d. The diet with 500 mg kg^–1 saccharicterpenin supplementation improved liver glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px) activity, and the diet with 1 000 mg kg^–1 saccharicterpenin supplementation improved liver glutathione S-transferase(GSH-S) activity in piglets on d 70(P<0.05). At 2 500 mg kg^–1, saccharicterpenin in the diets reduced average daily feed intake(ADFI) and average daily gain(ADG) of piglets from d 1 to 35, damaged the cardiac tissue and liver on d 35, and decreased white blood cell counts(WBC), activities of catalase(CAT) and GSH-Px, and concentrations of glucose(GLU) and urea nitrogen(BUN) in the blood of piglets on d 70(P<0.05). In addition, diets with 5 000 mg kg^–1 saccharicterpenin supplementation reduced ADFI, ADG and increased diarrhea rates of piglets from d 36 to 70, and decreased hemoglobin(HGB) concentration and activity of CAT in the blood of piglets on d 70(P<0.05). Moreover, at a rate of 5 000 mg kg^–1, saccharicterpenin supplementation increased pancreas index on d 35 and hepatic index on d 70, and damaged cardiac tissue, liver and spleen during the whole experimental period(P<0.05). These results suggested that dietary 500 mg kg^–1 saccharicterpenin supplementation had beneficial effects on piglets, but excessive supplementation(2 500 or 5 000 mg kg^–1) of saccharicterpenin in the diets could lead to growth retardation, hematological abnormalities and organ injuries.

Chemosensory proteins(CSPs)play important roles in insects’chemoreception,although their specific functional roles have not been fully *** this study,we conducted the developmental expression patterns and competitive binding assay as well as knock‐down assay by RNA interference both in vitro and in vivo to reveal the function of NlugCSP10 from the brown planthopper(BPH),Nilaparvata lugens(Stål),a major pest in rice *** results showed that NlugCSP10 messenger RNA was significantly higher in males than in females and correlated to gender,development and wing *** fluorescence binding assays revealed that NlugCSP10 exhibited the highest binding affinity with cis‐3‐hexenyl acetate,eicosane,and(+)‐β‐*** assay revealed that eicosane displayed attractant activity,while cis‐3‐hexenyl acetate,similar to(+)‐β‐pinene significantly repelled *** *** of NlugCSP10,which is responsible for cis‐3‐hexenyl acetate binding,significantly disrupted cis‐3‐hexenyl acetate ***,findings of the present study showed that NlugCSP10 could selectively interrelate with numerous volatiles emitted from host plants and these ligands could be designated to develop slow‐release mediators that attract/repel *** and subsequently improve the exploration of plans to control this insect pest.

Dear Editor,Pancreatic cancer (PCa) is a high-grade gastrointestinal malignancy more commonly occurring in elderly populations with lower than 5% overall 5-year survival rate (Hidalgo, 2010). PCa responds poorly to most chemotherapeutic agents, and therefore it is imperative to develop novel therapeutic agents that have anti-cancer activities against PCa.

Taking the enterprise survival ability and the development ability as a basis, this paper constructs the financial appraisal index system of enterprise competitiveness. Also, it draws the overall impression of the enterprise competitiveness through selecting listed f＇u＇ms＇ financial index of the equipment manufacturing industry, with the aid of factor analysis model, using the principal components analytic method, making rotation of varimax, and arranging the synthesizes enterprise competitiveness from the financial angle. After the empirical analysis, the paper completes appraisal and analysis which based on company＇s competitiveness from financial index.

Since these errors seem to be quite correct in terms of grammar, they are likely to be ignored by both English learners and instructors. This paper attempts to expose such errors, analyze the causes of them and propose some tentative measures to prevent and to correct these errors.

Detection and Comparison of Structure and Function of Wild-type Pneumolysin and Its Novel Mutant PIyM2

Here is reported a novel pneumolysin（Ply） mutant（PlyM2） that addresses a long-standing problem for vaccine development in this field： detoxification of Ply in the premise of retaining antigenic integrity. Structure and function of wild-type Ply（PIyWT） and PIyM2 mutants were detected and compared. Their structures were not signi- ficantly different according to the analysis by thermal-dependent fluorescence spectroscopy and circular dichroism spectroscopy. PlyM2 was confirmed to have lost hemolytic activity and yet could induce neutralizing antibodies to prevent in vitro hemolysis by PIyWT and Streptococcus pneumoniae（S, pneumoniae）. These results give support to PIyM2 to be a new protein antigen for inclusion in the development of an effective pneumocoecal multiprotein vaccine.

Deep petroleum resources are in a high-temperature ***,the traditional deep rock coring method has no temperature preserved measures and ignores the effect of temperature on rock porosity and permeability,which will lead to the distortion of the petroleum resources reserves ***,the hollow glass microspheres/epoxy resin(HGM/EP)composites were innovatively proposed as temperature preserved materials for in-situ temperature-preserved coring(ITP-Coring),and the physical,mechanical,and temperature preserved properties were *** results indicated that:As the HGM content increased,the density and mechanical properties of the composites gradually decreased,while the water absorption was deficient without hydrostatic *** composites with 50 vol%HGM,when the hydrostatic pressure reached 60 MPa,the water absorption was above 30.19%,and the physical and mechanical properties of composites were *** the hydrostatic pressure was lower than 40 MPa,the mechanical properties and thermal conductivity of composites were almost ***,the composites with 50 vol%HGM can be used for ITPCoring operations in deep environments with the highest hydrostatic pressure of 40 ***,to further understand the temperature preserved performance of composites in practical applications,the temperature preserved properties were *** unsteady-state heat transfer model was established based on the test results,then the theoretical change of the core temperature during the coring process was *** above tests results can provide a research basis for deep rock in-situ temperature preserved corer and support accurate assessment of deep petroleum reserves.

Hemodynamics and vasoactive substance levels during renal congestion that occurs in the anhepatic phase of liver transplantation

AIM: To explore hemodynamics and vasoactive substance levels during renal vein congestion that occurs in the anhepatic phase of liver ***: New Zealand rabbits received ligation of the hepatic pedicle, supra-hepatic vena cava and infrahepatic vena cava [anhepatic phase group(APH); n = 8], the renal veins(RVL; n = 8), renal veins and hepatic pedicle [with the inferior vena cava left open)(RVHP; n = 8)], or a sham operation(SOP; n = 8). Hemodynamic parameters(systolic, diastolic, and mean arterial blood pressures) and the levels of serum bradykinin(BK) and angiotensin Ⅱ(ANGII) were measured at baseline(0 min), and 10 min, 20 min, 30 min, and 45 min after the surgery. Correlation analyses were performed to evaluate the associations between hemodynamic parameters and levels of vasoactive ***:All experimental groups(APH,RVL,and RVHP)showed significant decreases in hemodynamic parameters(systolic,diastolic,and mean arterial blood pressures)compared to baseline levels,as well as compared to the SOP controls(P<0.05 for all).In contrast,BK levels were significantly increased compared to baseline in the APH,RVL,and RVHP groups at all time points measured(P<0.05 for all),whereas no change was observed in the SOP *** were no significant differences among the experimental groups for any measure at any time *** analyses revealed that systolic,diastolic,and mean arterial blood pressures were all negatively correlated with BK levels,and positively correlated with ANGII levels in the APH,RVL,and RVHP groups(P<0.05 for all).CONCLUSION:In the anhepatic phase of orthotopic liver transplantation,renal vein congestion significantly impacts hemodynamic parameters,which correlate with serum BK and ANGII levels.

The S100 protein family is the largest group of EF-hand signaling proteins in humans. The members of the S100 protein family are expressed in many tissues and play different functions. many diseases are related to S100 proteins, which function as new biochemical markers especially in cardiac diseases. The most studied members, protein S100Β and protein S100A1, exhibit activities in cardiac diseases, and these immunohistochemical expressions or serum levels have been used in predicting neurologic outcome after resuscitation of cardiac arrest or recovery of cardioprotective function.
