Multi-Criteria Analysis Using Remote Sensing and GIS: Insight into Groundwater Potential of the Fissured Aquifers in the Liptako Socle (Southwestern Niger)

In the basement of southwestern Niger, weathering and fractured zones concentrate most of the groundwater. This study focuses on fractured media and aims to identify areas of productivity in this aquifer to improve the region’s water coverage. The cartographic approach developed made it possible to establish synthetic maps based on multi-criteria analysis. The hydrogeological parameters selected include fracturing data, drainage system, slope and piezometric level as well as shallow and deep lithology. The choice of these criteria is based on their physical meaning but also on the availability of data. The integration of all the criteria in a GIS allowed to generate maps of recharge and potential productivity of fractured aquifers in the area. The validation of these thematic maps with independent data confirms their utility as reference standards for accessibility for future resource exploitation. Like any spatialization tool, potential recharge maps will provide valuable information about areas where infiltration is more important, and help control and manage risk zoning. The upward evacuation effect is even more prominent along the lineaments, faults or fractures: thus, to avoid possible pollution and to locate the future hydraulic structures, the analysis of the potential recharge zones remains necessary. The potential productivity index map, in addition to the very punctual sites identified by the fracturing study, made it possible to define areas of high potential productivity.

Environmental Factors, Constraints and Risks of Rainwater Runoff in Commune II of Maradi (Republic of Niger)

The Urban Commune of Maradi in Niger experienced increasingly frequent flooding following rainy episodes generating volumes and water flows that are difficult to control in recent years. This study aims to determine the impacts of runoff water in Commune II of Maradi City and to assess the role of urban planning in runoff management, as well as the strengths and weaknesses of urban sanitation in Maradi. The methodological approach used consisted of: 1) an interpretation of documentary data, 2) gathering information on runoff at several sites in the study area, and 3) interviews and questionnaires with local communities. This approach made it possible to understand the degree of vulnerability of the populations to flooding and then to propose sustainable solutions to reduce the vulnerability of the affected populations, through the implementation of effective urban rainwater management practices (USWMP). The results show that the impacts of runoff are mainly related to the lack of adequate storm water drainage networks in the area, but also to the nature of the habitats. Geomorphological factors such as the nature of the soil, the slope of the terrain and the altitude increase the degree of risk. In addition, the inadequacy and dilapidation of the drainage systems of the canals and above all the anarchic occupation of the land linked to accelerated urbanization are the cause of flooding by stagnation of rainwater. A phenomenon now linked to numerous deteriorations of urban equipment, the runoff of rainwater in the city of Maradi carries so many pollutants that municipalities, businesses and individuals should put in place pollution prevention measures.

Contribution of Geophysical Prospecting (1D) to Characterize a Precambrian Basement Aquifers Agadez Region (North, Niger)

In the A?r massif, and more particularly in the Iférouane area, the basement is flush. Thus, the essential of water resources is contained in the discontinuous aquifers of basement. Indeed, the weathered and cracked basement is an excellent reservoir of groundwater. The objective of this study is to determine the areas favorable to establishment of productive drilling in the village of Ebourkoum. A methodological approach based on the combination of remote sensing and geophysics methods was implemented. The fracturing map developed highlighted three main accidents of directions N0° - N10°, N30° - N50° and N130° - N140° in the said locality. The geophysical investigation mainly electrical prospecting has allowed to locate structures with high hydraulic potential below alluvium and alterites. Subsequently, drilling will be carried out in the areas retained.

The study area is a semi-arid area located in the Arlit *** area contains significant uranium deposits that have been mined by two mining companies since *** objective of this study is to determine the impact of these activities on existing aquifers,in particular Izegouande aquifer.A methodological approach based on hydrochemical methods focusing on the analysis of nitrates and sulfates showed that waters of Izegouande aquifer have high nitrate concentrations ranging from 16 mg/L to 60 mg/L,higher than WHO(World Health Organization)standards drinking *** addition,these waters show elevated sulfate levels ranging from 16 mg/L to 57 mg/L,therefore *** high concentrations of nitrates and sulfates are located mainly near wastewater treatment of Arlit city and near industrial zone,which are potential areas for transfer of these elements such as nitrates and *** is therefore urgent to carry out periodic and regular checks on groundwater in these areas.

Application of Spatial Techniques for the Identification of Discontinuous Aquifers of the Basement in Semi-Arid Environment: A Case of Bagzan Mount Plateau, Aïr Massif (North, Niger)

Bagzan mount is located in the Aïr massifs region. This locality, which is constituted only by the granites and volcanic formations, knows the difficulty of water supply that depends on rainfall. This present study has the objective of fracture mapping that allowed to the fractured aquifer in Bagzan mount. The methodological approach used has a treatment of Digital Elevation Model (DEM imagery), hydrogeological and geological approach in the field. This process allowed us to map the lineaments and elaborate a fracturing map after the validation stage. The fracturing map showed that the fractures network is distributed in the N70°-N80°, N60°-N70°, N50°-N60°, and two secondary directions N90°-N100° and N120°-N140°. These fracturing maps allowed us to have precious information in groundwater research in Bagzan mount, due to their geological and hydrogeological complexity.

Von Willebrand’s disease was first described in 1926 by Erik Von Willebrand. It is a genetic, constitutional defect of hemostasis that is different from hemophilia. It is classified among the rare diseases whose clinical manifestations are dominated by a hemorrhagic profile, which varies from patient to patient. It is an easily diagnosed disease based on a quantitative and qualitative bioassay of VWF. Treatment is multidisciplinary and is based on well-structured prevention. We report the first case of von Willebrand disease in Niger, diagnosed in the Hematology Department of Niamey’s National Hospital.

海洋资源丰富,对海洋资源的开发利用具有重要意义。当前用于海洋开发和勘探的设备主要是水下潜水器。水下潜水器在海洋中航行时,不可避免地会受到复杂多变的海洋环境的影响。传统的环境模型通常仅考虑有关已知海洋地形的信息,而不能完全反映海洋环境的真实情况。可用于路径规划的信息不完整。因此,为了更好地协助水下潜艇进行航路规划,迫切需要完整,准确地描述海洋环境信息。本文重点对基于视觉的水下环境建模和轨迹规划进行研究。通过使用视觉采集系统进行水下环境信息的收集和处理,以建立准确而完整的水下3D模型,并最终依靠一组优化算法来实现水下定位和轨迹规划。首先本文设计了一个水下机器人系统作为实验平台,其硬件系统主要由英伟达TX2与pixhawk飞控组成,前者负责处理视频数据信号以及运行一些中型计算量的程序,后者主要负责机器人的运动控制。整个软件系统基于ROS平台实现,采用分布式通讯框架。其次,针对水下环境建模问题,本文采取ORB-SLAM与OCTOMAP相结合的方法来建立一个稠密的三维环境。通过研究地图数据的表示形式,选择八叉树网格数据作为地图的表示格式。将Kinect深度相机采集到的深度图像数据经过处理后,转为octomap的三维占用数据。ORB-SLAM算法用于提供相机的位姿,与上述三维占用网格数据结合起来,从而创建出稠密的水下三维环境地图。通过相机标定,octomap仿真实验可以看出此方法的建模效果能达到预期。最后,针对水下机器人路径规划问题。本文设计基于PID算法轨迹及几何路径跟踪控制器。通过研究水下机器人的动态模型方程获取的模型参数,并使用Matlab进行控制器模拟实验及分析。从Matlab模拟实验结果可以看出此设计的控制器很明确的效果。

Prevalence of Extended-Spectrum Beta-Lactamase-Producing Strains Isolated at Zinder National Hospital (ZNH) in 2021 and Their Antibiotic Susceptibility Profile

Purpose: Bacterial resistance to antibiotics has become a global public health problem. Enterobacteriaceae ESBL is among the most incriminated in this emergence which reduces the therapeutic possibilities. Thus, the objective of this study is to determine the prevalence of the extended-spectrum beta- lactamase (ESBL) producing Enterobacteriaceae at ZNH and their antibiotic susceptibility profile. Materials and Methods: This is a prospective study carried out over 5 months in all hospitalized and non-hospitalized patients in whom a culture was taken for the diagnosis of an infection. The search for ESBL is done by the double disc diffusion method. Results: In total, 21 out of 45 of our strains are ESBL-producing, i.e. a frequency of 46.7%. The mean age is 41.62 (±22.90) with extremes of 2.6 - 78 years. The distribution of ESBL producing species showed a predominance of E. coli with 66.7% followed by K. pneumoniae and K. oxytoca each 9.5%. All ESBL strains were resistant to Amoxicillin, Cefalotin, Pipiracillin, Piperacillin + tazobactam, Ticarcillin, Ticarcillin + clavulanic acid. Resistance to C3G and Aztreonam was each 95.5%, to Amoxicillin/clavulanic acid 9.1%. All strains were sensitive to imipenem. E. coli strains showed resistance: 85.7% to ciprofloxacin, 50% to Amikacin, 57.1% to Gentamicin. For K. pneumoniae, it is 66.7% for Gentamicin and Ciprofloxacin. Conclusion: Our study reports a high prevalence of ESBL at the HNZ. This must be taken into account in order to monitor this phenomenon which constitutes a public health problem. The study also reports sensitivity to Amoxicillin/clavulanic acid and Aminoside which can be an alternative.

Plasma cell leukemia is a rare malignant hemopathy, characterized by a peripheral plasma cell proliferation of more than 20% of the leukocyte formula. A few rare cases have been described. From which we report a case of plasma cell leukemia in a 52-year-old Nigerien subject initially in a coma, whose anemia led to the diagnosis in the Onco-Hematology department of the National Hospital of Niamey and the evolution was marked by clinical and biological remission after 3 cures of CTD, but died in an infectious picture after 6 cures.
