Improved prediction of clay soil expansion using machine learning algorithms and meta-heuristic dichotomous ensemble classifiers

Soil swelling-related disaster is considered as one of the most devastating geo-hazards in modern ***,proper determination of a soil’s ability to expand is very vital for achieving a secure and safe ground for ***,this study has provided a novel and intelligent approach that enables an improved estimation of swelling by using kernelised machines(Bayesian linear regression(BLR)&bayes point machine(BPM)support vector machine(SVM)and deep-support vector machine(d-SVM));(multiple linear regressor(REG),logistic regressor(LR)and artificial neural network(ANN)),tree-based algorithms such as decision forest(RdF)&boosted trees(BdT).Also,and for the first time,meta-heuristic classifiers incorporating the techniques of voting(VE)and stacking(SE)were *** independent scenarios of explanatory features’combination that influence soil behaviour in swelling were *** results indicated BLR as possessing the highest amount of deviation from the predictor variable(the actual swell-strain).REG and BLR performed slightly better than ANN while the meta-heuristic learners(VE and SE)produced the best overall performance(greatest R2 value of 0.94 and RMSE of 0.06%exhibited by VE).CEC,plasticity index and moisture content were the features considered to have the highest level of *** binary classifiers(SVM,d-SVM and BPM)gave better accuracy(average accuracy and recall rate of 0.93 and 0.60)compared to ANN,LR and ***-driven diagnostic test indicated that the meta-heuristic models’best performance occurred when ML training was conducted using k-fold validation ***,it is recommended that the concepts developed herein be deployed during the preliminary phases of a geotechnical or geological site characterisation by using the best performing meta-heuristic models via their background coding resource.

Experimental assessment of a 3-d plenoptic endoscopic imaging system

All endoscopic imaging system using a plenoptic technique to reconstruct 3-d information is demonstrated and analyzed in this Letter. The proposed setup integrates a clinical surgical endoscope with a plenoptic camera to achieve a depth accuracy error of about 1 mm and a precision error of about 2 mm, within a 25 mm×25 mm field of view, operating at 11 frames per second.

In this work,we studied a(2+1)-dimensional Sawada-Kotera equation(SKE).This model depicts non-linear wave processes in shallow water,fluid dynamics,ion-acoustic waves in plasmas and other phe-nomena.A couple of well-established techniques,the Bäcklund transformation based on the modified Kudryashov method,and the Sardar-sub equation method are applied to obtain the soliton wave solution to the(2+1)-dimensional *** illustrate the behavior of the nonlinear model in an appealing fashion,a variety of travelling wave solutions are formed,such as contour,2d,and 3d *** pro-posed approaches are proved more convenient and dominant for getting analytical solutions and can also be implemented to a variety of physical models representing nonlinear wave phenomena.

The effect of La^(3+),Mn^(2+)and Ni^(2+)doped calcium copper titanate,CaCu_(3)Ti_(4)O_(12)(CCTO),at higher concentrations(CR1 and CR2 with 5 mol%and 10 mol%,respectively),has been examined by semi-wet route at relatively lower *** semi-wet route employs citrate-nitrate gel chemical method using TiO_(2) solid powders.X-ray diffraction(XRd)analysis confirms the formation of single phase in the doped samples sintered at 900℃for 8 *** electron micrographs(SEM)show that the average grain size for CR2 is larger than that of CR1 *** energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EdX)is used to study the percentage compositions of different ions present in both *** constant(εr)and dielectric loss(tanδ)values of CR1 are comparatively higher than those of CR2 ceramic at all measured frequencies and *** nature of temperature-dependent relaxation behavior of the ceramics is also studied by impedance,modulus spectroscopic analysis and confirms Maxwell-Wagner relaxation.

Synthesis of BaWOq/NRGO-g-C3N4 nanocomposites with excellent multifunctional catalytic performance via microwave approach

Novel barium tungstate/nitrogen-doped reduced graphene oxide-graphi- tic carbon nitride （BaWO4/NRGO-g-C3N4） nanocomposite has been synthesized by a simple one-pot microwave technique. The synthesized nanocomposites are well characterized by diffraction, microscopic and spectroscopic techniques to study its crystal structure, elemental composition, morphological features and optical properties. The material prepared is tested for its performance as an electrocatalyst, photocatalyst and reduction catalyst. The nanocomposite catalyzed the photodegradation of methylene blue （MB） dye in 120 min, reduction of 4-nitro phenol （4-NP） to 4-amino phenol （4-AP） in 60 s, showed an impressive Tafel slope of 62 mV/dec for hydrogen evolution reaction （HER）. The observed results suggest that the nanocomposite acts as an efficient multifunctional catalyst. The reported approach provides fundamental insights which can be extended to other metal tungstate-based ternary composites for applications in the field of clean energy and environment in the future.

The application of fluorescent probes for in vivo retinal imaging is of great importance,which could provide direct and crucial imaging evidence for a better understanding of common eye ***,a group of bright organic luminogens with typical electron-donating(d)and electron-accepting(A)structures(abbreviated as Lds-BdM,Lds-BTM,and Lds-BHM)was synthesized through a simple single-step *** were found to be efficient solid-state emitters with high fluorescence quantum yields of above 70%(e.g.,83.7%for Lds-BTM).Their light-emission properties could be tuned by the modulation ofπ-conjugation effect with methoxy groups at different substituent *** resulting fluorescent nanoparticles(NPs)were demonstrated as specific lipid droplets(Lds)targeting probes with high brightness,good biocompatibility,and satisfactory ***-BTM NPs with a large two-photon absorption cross section(σ2=249 GM)were further utilized as ultrabright two-photon fluorescence(2PF)nanoprobes for in vivo retina imaging of live zebrafish by NIR excitation at an ultralow concentration(0.5μmol/L).Integrated histological structures at the tissue level and corresponding fine details at the cellular level of the embryonic retina of live zebrafish were clearly *** is the first report of using ultrabright Lds-targeting nanoprobes to accurately measure fine details in the retina with 2PF microscopic *** good results are anticipated to open up a new avenue in the development of efficient 2PF emitters for non-invasive bioimaging of living animals.

Luminescence and low temperature trap centers in mixed rare earth borate crystal

The single crystal of this compound has been grown from melt by using a conventional Czochralski technique. The temperature dependent luminescence spectra were measured using a 265 nm laser as an exciting source in the range of 10-300 K. The scintillation decay time profile was measured and found to have three components. The influence of the trap centers on the luminescence properties was studied by means of thermoluminescence（TL） glow peak analysis. Low temperature TL glow peaks were measured in the temperature range of 10-300 K at the heating rate of 0.1 K/s for X-ray irradiated sample. The TL glow peak consists of two dominant peaks at 88 and 109 K. Several glow peaks with a complex nature causes the decrease in the light yield at temperatures below 250 K, and along with long scintillation decay components were observed. The trap parameters such as activation energy（E）, frequency factor（s）and order of kinetics（b） were calculated using various standard methods such as peak shape（PS）,variable heating rate（VHR）, initial rise（IR） and computerized glow curve deconvolution（CGCd）.

目的:探讨苓桂术甘汤对心肌梗死(MI)后慢性心力衰竭(CHF)大鼠线粒体分裂-融合及沉默信息调节因子3(Sirt3)/单磷酸腺苷依赖的蛋白激酶(AMPK)信号通路的影响。方法:Sd大鼠随机分为假手术组(生理盐水,仅穿线不结扎)、模型组(生理盐水,结扎冠状动脉左前降支近心端)、苓桂术甘汤组(4.2 g·kg^(-1))、卡托普利组(0.00257 g·kg^(-1)),每组10只,连续给药28 d。彩色多普勒超声成像仪检测大鼠心功能参数变化;苏木素-伊红(HE)染色观察心脏病理学改变;免疫荧光法检测活性氧(ROS)水平;JC-1法检测线粒体膜电位;比色法检测三磷酸腺苷(ATP)水平、丙二醛(MdA)、超氧化物歧化酶(SOd)、线粒体呼吸链复合物活性(Ⅰ~Ⅳ);原位末端标记法(TuNEL)染色检测心肌组织细胞凋亡率;蛋白免疫印迹法(Western blot)检测Sirt3、磷酸化(p)-AMPK、磷酸化动力相关蛋白1(p-drp1)、线粒体分裂蛋白1(Fis1)、线粒体分裂因子(MFF)、视神经萎缩蛋白1(OPA1)蛋白表达水平。结果:与假手术组比较,模型组大鼠左室舒张末期内径(LVIdd)、左室收缩末期内径(LVIds)显著升高(PdA水平与心肌细胞凋亡率显著升高(Pd水平、ATP含量、膜电位显著降低(Pdrp1、Fis1、MFF蛋白水平显著上调(Pdd和LVIds显著降低(PdA水平与心肌细胞凋亡率显著降低(Pd水平、ATP含量、膜电位显著升高(Pdrp1、Fis1、MFF蛋白表达显著下调(P<0.01),Sirt3、p-AMPK、OPA1蛋白表达显著上调(P<0.01)。结论:苓桂术甘汤可缓解心肌细胞氧化应激与细胞凋亡损伤,改善线粒体功能,其作用可能与线粒体分裂-融合、Sirt3/AMPK信号通路有关。

undetected-photon imaging allows for objects to be imaged in wavelength regions where traditional components are unavailable. Although first demonstrated using quantum sources, recent work has shown that the technique also holds with classical beams. To date, however, all the research in this area has exploited parametric downconversion processes using bulk nonlinear crystals within free-space systems. Here, we demonstrate undetectedphoton-based imaging using light generated via stimulated four-wave mixing within highly nonlinear silicon fiber waveguides. The silicon fibers have been tapered to have a core diameter of915 nm to engineer the dispersion and reduce the insertion losses, allowing for tight mode confinement over extended lengths to achieve practical nonlinear conversion efficiencies(-30 dB) with modest pump powers(48 m W). Both amplitude and phase images are obtained using classically generated light, confirming the high degree of spatial and phase correlation of our system. The high powers(>10 nW) and long coherence lengths(>4 km) associated with our large fiber-based system result in high contrast and stable images.
