The recovery of plastic waste has a positive impact on two fronts: The environment, through waste reduction, and the economy, through its use in road construction. This work involves recycling plastic variants such as Polypropylene (PP) 50% and LDPE (Low Density Polyethylene) 50% in proportions of 2% to 8%, incorporated into a 0/14 BBSG. The results of the Marshall test gave stability values ranging from 826 to 1523 kg and creep values from 5.5 to 2.45 mm. The Duriez test gave r/R values ranging from 0.769 to 0.786, with water absorption percentages from 2.24% to 0.69%. The PCG test at 80 gyrations gave void percentages ranging from 11.9% to 5.23%. The rutting test gives a rutting depth percentage that drops at 30,000 cycles from 11.5% to 1.3%. This study shows a considerable increase in the mechanical characteristics of asphalt mixes by adding plastic waste.

Nasopharyngeal liposarcoma is an extremely rare clinical entity. Less than ten cases have been reported in the literature. It mainly occurs in humans. The non-specificity of the clinical and radiological signs explains the difficulty of the diagnosis confirmed by anatomopathological and immunohistochemical examinations. Its pathogenesis remains obscure and often correlates with genetic abnormalities. Pleomorphic liposarcoma is its rarest subtype, remarkable for its aggressiveness and rapidity of growth. Complete surgical excision remains the treatment of choice. We report a case of liposarcoma whose diagnosis was made during histological examination coupled with immunohistochemistry. .

Introduction: Sinonasal polyposis (SNP) is a chronic inflammatory disease of the mucosa of the nasal cavities and facial sinuses. It is characterized by an oedematous, multifocal and bilateral degeneration of the nasosinus mucosa, which originates in the lateral masses of the ethmoid, where it causes the formation of smooth, gelatinous, translucent and pyriform polyp lesions. The objective of this study was to review epidemiological, clinical, paraclinical data and evaluate the results of endoscopic surgical treatment. Patients and Methods: This is a retrospective study on 60 patients followed at the ENT department of the Fann National University Hospital Center, from January 2010 to December 2015. All patients with sinonasal polyposis were included in the study. Results: The average age of our patients was 38 years and the sex ratio (M/F) was 0.8. In the patients’ histories, we found 18% asthma and 10% Widal’s disease. The average consultation time was 8.5 years. All patients had consulted for nasal obstruction;rhinorrhea was bilateral and found in 67.7% of cases, with olfactory disorders accounting for 50%. The CT scan performed in 58% of cases made it possible to specify the extent of the lesions;the involvement of the ethmoidal sinus was constant and extended to the other sinuses except in 2 cases. All patients had received medical treatment with local corticosteroids. Endoscopic surgical treatment was initiated in 43% of cases after failure of corticosteroid-based medical treatment. The evolution under treatment marked by the reappearance of symptoms that increased each month. At one month postoperatively, all clinical symptomatology had improved with the exception of olfactory disorders, which persisted in 3 patients. At 12 months we noted 12 cases of reappearance of nasal obstruction. Conclusion: SNP is a disease of little known etiology. The diagnosis is almost always clinical. Darier-Ferrand dermatofibrosarcoma (DFS) is a cutaneous mesenchymal tumor of intermediate malignancy. It is a rare but not exceptional tumor, accounting for 0.1% of malignant skin tumors. Histological examination is essential for diagnosis. Wide surgical excision is the standard treatment. DFS is a tumor whose prognosis and evolutionary risk are mainly linked to the delay in diagnosis and the quality of the first excision. Late diagnosis makes excision and reconstruction surgery difficult. The chances of recovery in the case of well-performed primary surgery are significantly greater than in the case of salvage surgery. To improve prognosis, early, codified, multidisciplinary management is essential. In our African context, and especially in the case of patients living in rural areas, errant diagnoses are often found hence the importance of raising awareness and providing information to healthcare personnel. We report a case of an enlarged left supraclavicular Darier-Ferrand dermatofibrosarcoma. The patient had come for a late consultation at a stage when the tumour was large. The CT scan was a great help in the pre-operative phase. The patient underwent complete surgical excision, the postoperative course was straightforward and the histology of the surgical specimen confirmed the diagnosis. The resection margins were healthy. The patient is alive at one year with no recurrence or metastasis.

This study aims to determine the factors related to HIV-positive status in people aged 15 to 49 years of age in the commune of Niagha in Goudomp. The study was descriptive and analytically cross-cutting and had taken place in a release of 2018. The data was collected on anonymous questionnaires and then analyzed using R software after entering with Epi 7 software. Bivariate analyses and logistical modelling have been used to investigate the factors associated with HIV status. The sample included 400 people, and a participation rate of 100% was obtained in relation to the administration of the questionnaire. For the detection of HIV infection, 318 people agreed to do so, a proportion of 79.7%. The average age of the respondents was 27.8 years with a standard deviation of 9.1 and extremes of 15 to 49 years. 21.5% of respondents were under 20 years of age, the median was 26 years. With 58.8% of women, the sex ratio (M/F) was 0.7. In this study, 11.5% of respondents did not believe in the existence of HIV infection, 92.0% were sexually active, and 40.5% had sex with casual partners. The main places for casual sex were cultural events (84.0%), weekly markets (53.1%), religious events (27.8%) and during travel (22.8%). Among them, only 20 respondents, or 12.3%, declared that they systematically protect themselves with a condom during these occasional sexual relations. This wearing of condoms was found in 20.7% of singles and 10.7% of married couples having casual sex. In this study, 60.0% of the respondents declared that they had paid for sex, although this practice is not cited in income-generating activities. Non-consensual sex was found in 6.5% of the respondents. In this study, 319 people agreed to be tested for HIV, or 79.7% of the sample. HIV infection was found in 19 people, 6.0% seroprevalence, with 16 cases of HIV 1 infection and three cases of HIV 2 infection. Several risk behaviors were found in this study. Introduction: Coblation® is a low temperature-controlled tissue ablation technique widely used in human surgery. Its development in otorhinolaryngology has allowed a spectacular advance in the management of diseases of the nasal and oral cavities. The objective of our work was to study the indications for radiofrequency in ENT, to describe the technical aspects and to evaluate the results of his practice at the HMO. Patients and Methods: This is a retrospective study carried out in the ENT and Head and Neck Surgery department of the Ouakam Military Hospital (MHO) over a period of 3 years (from January 2015 to the end of December 2017), involving 37 patients who received radiofrequency treatment in the ENT sphere. Results: The study was carried out on 37 patients. The sex ratio of 0.19. The mean age of the patients was 33.3 years. The indications were dominated by chronic caseous cryptic tonsillitis with or without halitosis with 24 cases (64.9%) followed by recurrent tonsillitis in 5 cases (13.5%) then we have obstructive hypertrophy of the palatal tonsils with syndrome sleep apnea (OSAS) in 4 cases (10.8%) followed by nasal obstruction (hypertrophy of the inferior turbinates) and hypertrophy of the soft palate and uvula in 2 cases (5.4%). The complication rate was 8.1% and dominated by transient dysgeusia in 1 case or 2.7%, uvula edema in 1 case or 2.7% and bleeding in 1 case or 2.7%. The postoperative follow-up was done one week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months and 12 months after radiofrequency. Volumetric reduction begins to set in from 1 month (62.5%) and becomes maximum in 3 months (74.3%). Conclusion: Coblation® is a controlled tissue ablation technique at low temperature, patented by ArthroCare® Corporation in 1997. Very widespread in human surgery. The bifacial silicon solar cell, placed at temperature (T) and illuminated from the back side by monochromatic light in frequency modulation (ω), is studied from the frequency dynamic diffusion equation, relative to the density of excess minority carriers in the base. The expressions of the dynamic recombination velocities of the minority carriers on the rear side of the base Sb1(D(ω, T);H) and Sb2(α, D(ω, T);H), are analyzed as a function of the dynamic diffusion coefficient (D(ω, T)), the absorption coefficient (α(λ)) and the thickness of the base (H). Thus their graphic representation makes it possible to go up, to the base optimum thickness (Hopt(ω, T)), for different temperature values and frequency ranges of modulation of monochromatic light, of strong penetration. The base optimum thickness (Hopt(ω, T)) decreases with temperature, regardless of the frequency range and allows the realization of the solar cell with few material (Si).

Metastatic Prostate Cancer under Androgen Deprivation Therapy: Factors Influencing Castration Resistance

Objective: To evaluate the factors predicting the time to progression to castration-resistant in metastatic prostate cancer under Androgen Deprivation Therapy (ADT) in our center. Patients and Methods: This is a retrospective, descriptive, analytical study in a single center over a period of 2 years. It has interest patients followed for metastasized prostate cancer under ADT. The parameters studied were: epidemiological, clinical, paraclinical, prostate specific antigen (PSA) nadir, time to nadir (TTN) and their link with the castration resistance. Results: The frequency of castration resistant prostate cancer was 28 patients per year. The mean age was 70.4 ± 7.9 years. An ECOG score ≥ 3 was more common as was the cT2c stage. The median of the initial total PSA was 489.6 ng/ml (203.3;1653.2). All patients had adenocarcinoma. The International Society of Urological Pathology (ISUP) 1 was more frequent. Bone metastases were more frequent. The medians of nadir, TTN and the castration resistance were 19.3 ng/ml (3.7;102.1), 5.5 months (3;9) and 11 months (6;15.3), respectively. The Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) score, clinical stage, metastatic site, the nadir and its TTN influenced the DSR. Age, lymph node involvement, initial total PSA and Gleason score did not influence the castration resistance. Conclusion: ADT should be initiated as soon as possible before an attack of general and/or clinical stage advanced to delay resistance. A drilling should be associated with this hormone therapy as much as possible because of its gain on resistance.

Background: Hypospadias is a congenital malformation resulting from hypoplasia of the tissues forming the ventral face of the penis. It is associated to variable degrees with an ectopic urethral meatus, a penis curvature and a sapper’s apron foreskin [1]. The incidence of this malformation varies from country to country. It is estimated at 1/300 male births in France and 0.26/ 1000 in Mexico [1]. In Senegal, the prevalence of this malformation is unknown. Hypospadias surgery has improved significantly in recent years due to a better understanding of the anatomy on the one hand and the improvement of the instruments used during surgery on the other (suture material, surgical magnification, urethral catheter of suitable size). In sub-Saharan Africa and particularly in Senegal, hypospadias surgery remains a challenge due to the unavailability of adequate equipment (lack of microsurgical instruments and surgical loupes). Objective: To evaluate the outcomes of the treatment of hypospadias by the different surgical techniques used in our center as well as their sexual function in adulthood. Patients and Methods: This is a retrospective study, including all patients operated for hypospadias between January 2009 and December 2017 in Urology-Andrology department of Aristide Le Dantec hospital. The studied parameters were: frequency, age, clinical and therapeutic aspects, and their sexual function in adulthood after treatment. The outcomes of the treatment were judged good or poor depending of the quality of penile straightening, the aesthetic appearance of the penis, the position of the urethral neo-meatus, the permeability of the urethra and the existence or not of fistula. The sexual function was assessed by the International Index of Erectile Function 15 (IIEF) score. Results: Fifty-five patients were included. The median age was 6 years (P25 = 2.8 and P75 = 13 year
