In this paper we describe the potential of the enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry(eXTP) mission for studies related to accretion flows in the strong field gravity regime around both stellar-mass and supermassive black-holes. eXTP has the unique capability of using advanced "spectral-timing-polarimetry" techniques to analyze the rapid variations with three orthogonal diagnostics of the flow and its geometry, yielding unprecedented insight into the inner accreting regions, the effects of strong field gravity on the material within them and the powerful outflows which are driven by the accretion process.

Hepatitis C virus(HCV) infection remains an important global health problem with chronic infection affecting approximately 11 million children worldwide. The emergence of direct-acting antiviral(DAA) therapies and the development of non-invasive methods for the determination of liver fibrosis will significantly improve the management of paediatric patients with chronic HCV infection in subsequent years. For paediatric patients, a new era of highly effective DAA agents is beginning, and the first results of available clinical trials are very promising. In this era, the identification and monitoring of patients continues to be an important issue. The availability of non-invasive serological and imaging methods to measure hepatic fibrosis enables the identification of patients with significant or advanced liver fibrosis stages. This article summarizes the current data on the epidemiology and progress of research aimed to evaluate the new therapies and non-invasive methods for liver injury in paediatric patients with chronic hepatitis C.

Nitrogen removal from wastewater and bacterial diversity in activated sludge at different COD/N ratios and dissolved oxygen concentrations

The impact of the organic carbon to nitrogen ratio （chemical oxygen demand （COD）/N） in wastewater and dissolved oxygen （DO） concentration on carbon and nitrogen removal efficiency, and total bacteria and ammonia-oxidizing bacteria （AOB） communities in activated sludge in constantly aerated sequencing batch reactors （SBRs） was determined. At DO of 0.5 and 1.5 mg O2/L during the aeration phase, the efficiency of ammonia oxidation exceeded 90%, with nitrates as the main product. Nitrification and denitrification achieved under the same operating conditions suggested the simultaneous course of these processes. The most effective nitrogen elimination （above 50%） was obtained at the COD/N ratio of 6.8 and DO of 0.5 mg O2/L. Total bacterial diversity was similar in all experimental series, however, for both COD/N ratios of 6.8 and 0.7, higher values were observed at DO of 0.5 mg O2/L. The diversity and abundance of AOB were higher in the reactors with the COD/N ratio of 0.7 in comparison with the reactors with the COD/N of 6.8. For both COD/N ratios applied, the AOB population was not affected by oxygen concentration. Amplicons with sequences indicating membership of the genus Nitrosospira were the determinants of variable technological conditions.

The impact of synbiotic administration through in ovo technology on the microstructure of a broiler chicken small intestine tissue on the 1^(st) and 42^(nd) day of rearing

Background： Application the innovative method which is in ovo technology provides a means of modulating the immune system at early embryonic stages. The aim of study was to determine influence of the in ovo stimulation, on d12 of incubation, with synbiotics（synbiotic 1-L. salivarius IBB3154 ＋ Bi^2tos, Clasado Ltd. and the synbiotic 2-L. plantarum IBB3036 ＋ lupin RFOs） on the microstructure of duodenum, jejunum and ileum in the 1^（st） and 42^（nd）day of ***： On the 1^（st） day of chickens life, in the duodenum of both experimental groups（SYN1 and SYN2）, a significantly higher and wider intestinal vil i as wel as a significantly larger absorbent surface of these villi were found in comparison with the Control group（P ≤ 0.01）. On the 42^（nd）day of rearing the beneficial effect of synbiotic 1 was reflected by the numerical y higher vil i（no statistical differences） with a larger surface（P ≤ 0.01） in the duodenum in the SYN1 group compare to the Control group. In the jejunum on the 1^（st） day of life, in the SYN1 group, significantly higher vil i than in the Control group, with a simultaneous decrease in the depth of crypts（P ≤ 0.01）, and also the largest width of vil i and their absorbent area（P ≤ 0.01） in comparison to the other groups were found. On the 42^（nd）day of life, in the jejunum, an increase in the height of the vil i whilst reducing the crypt depth in the SYN2 group was found（P ≤ 0.01）. In turn, in the SYN1 group, there were significantly more neutral goblet cel s observed compared with the control group（P ≤ 0.05）. In the ileum of 1-day-old chickens, the widest vil i（P ≤ 0.05） and the deepest crypts（P ≤ 0.01） were found in the SYN2 group. In the same group, there was also the least amount of neutral goblet cel s in comparison to the other groups（P ≤ 0.05）.Conclusions： We observed that synbiotic 1 and 2 beneficial y affected the examined characteristics on the 1^（st） and 42^（nd） day of life. The influence of in ovo injection with the prebiotic DiNovoon the development of histomorphological parameters of the duodenum, body mass and productivity in large-scale poultry production conditions

Background: Among various feed additives currently used in poultry nutrition, an important role is played by bioactive substances, including prebiotics. The beneficial effect of these bioactive substances on the gastrointestinal tract and immune system give rise to improvements in broiler health and performance nutrition, thus increasing the productivity of these birds. An innovative method for introducing bioactive substances into chickens is the in ovo injection into eggs intended for hatching. The aim of the study was to evaluate the development of histomorphological parameters of the duodenum and productivity in chickens injected in ovo with the prebiotic DiNovo~?(extract of Laminaria species of seaweed, BioA tlantis Ltd., Ireland) on d 12 of incubation, under large-scale, high density poultry production ***: There was no significant impact of the injection of DiNovo~? prebiotic on the production parameters of broiler chickens(body weight, FCR, EBI and mortality) obtained on d 42 of rearing. No significant impact of the DiNovo~? injection on the duodenum weight and length was observed, as wel as on the CSA, diameter and muscular layer thickness of the duodenum. The in ovo injection of DiNovo~? significantly increased the width of the duodenal vil i(P < 0.05) and crypt depth(P < 0.01) of chickens on d 21 of rearing. Other histomorphological parameters of duodenal vil i at d 42 of chickens rearing such as: the height, width, and cross section area of vil i were significantly greater in chickens from the control group compared to those from the DiNovo~? group(P < 0.05 and P < 0.01).Conclusions: In conclusion, this study demonstrates that injection of DiNovo~? prebiotic into the air chamber of egg significantly influences the histomorphological parameters on d 21 of rearing without negatively affecting productivity in chickens at the end of rearing.

Correlations between skin lesions induced by anti-tumor necrosis factor-α and selected cytokines in Crohn's disease patients

AIM:To investigate the correlation between the appearance of skin lesions and concentration of interleukin(IL)-17A,IL-23 and interferon-γ(IFN-γ)in Crohn’s disease(CD)patients during anti-tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)therapy METHODS:A prospective study included 30 adult patients with CD of Caucasian origin(19 men and 11women;mean age±SD 32.0±8.6 years)during biological therapy with anti-TNF-αantibodies from January2012 to March *** patients were treated with infliximab,seven with adalimumab and five *** criteria were exacerbation of the underlying disease,Crohn’s Disease Activity Index over 300 and the ineffectiveness of previously used non-biological *** with a history of psoriasis,atopic dermatitis and other autoimmune skin lesions were excluded from the *** control group consisted of 12 healthy subjects.A diagnostic survey was carried out,blood tests and careful skin examination were performed,and the serum levels of IL-17,IL-23 and IFN-γwere measured using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays *** that have developed in the course of biological therapy in patients who had no pre-existing skin lesions of similar character were qualified as skin lesions induced by antiTNF-α***:Skin manifestations occurred in 18 of CD patients during the anti-TNF-αtherapy(60%),in the average time of 10.16±3.42 mo following the beginning of the 52-wk treatment *** lesions observed in CD patients during biological therapy included psoriasiform lesions(44.4%),and eczema forms lesions(22.2%).In CD patients with drug induced skin lesions significantly higher levels of hemoglobin(13.3±1.5 g/dL vs 10.8±1.9 g/dL,P=0.018)and hematocrit(39.9%±4.5%vs 34.3%±5.4%,P=0.01),as well as a significantly lower level of platelets(268±62×103/μL vs 408±239×103/μL,P=0.046)was observed compared with CD patients without skin *** concentrations of IL-17A and IL-23in CD patients with skin lesions developed

Effect of the pH on the Cr(VI)Sorption on HDTMA-zeolites

The uptake of Cr(VI)from aqueous solutions was investigated using clinoptilolite and phillipsite rich *** minerals were modified using hexadecyltrimethyl-ammonium bromide(HDTMA-Br)and used for Cr(VI)ions *** physicochemical characteristics of zeolitic minerals were revealed by XRD,XRF,BET and FT-IR *** concentration of Cr(VI)working solutions,Cinit ranged between 5-100 mg·L-1,were prepared by dilution of the stock solution with distilled water with pHinit adjusted to the value of 3.0 or 4.0 or *** residual concentrations of chromium in the liquid samples were analyzed by *** uptake capacities of modified zeolites were compared in batch sorption *** comparison of the obtained data identified that efficiency of Cr(VI)sorption onto clinoptilolite is always higher than in phillipsite *** analysis of the infrared spectra revealed that after adsorption of Cr(VI)the characteristics for HDTMA vibrations were shifted in PHI-HDTMA case,while for CLI-HDTMA the intensity of characteristics peaks decreased.
