The present study reports the titanium dioxide(TiO_(2))films synthesized from TiCl3 precursor on ITO glass substrates using two electrochemical techniques,namely direct electro-deposition(DE)and pulse electro-deposition(PE).The synthesis potential during the time-on(Ton)period was fixed at-1.5 ***,the open-circuit potential was applied during the time-off(Toff)*** effect of the technique of electro-deposition and Toff duration on the properties of TiO_(2)films and their photoelectron-catalytic activity were *** obtained films were investigated by X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),UV-VIS spectrometer,and photocurrent measurement *** is found that the use of the PE technique at different Toff improves the properties of TiO_(2)films compared to the DE *** XRD patterns show the anatase phase with a marked preferential orientation along the(101)direction for all *** the SEM analysis,it is seen a significant change from big multigrain agglomerates at DE to a dense film structure and small multigrain agglomerates at different *** the Toff decreases from 3 s to 1 s,the photocurrent response rises and reaches a high value of about 12 m A/cm^(2).Compared with DE,and under UV light the photocatalytic property of TiO_(2)film synthesis via PE has been improved in the degradation of methyl orange(MO).Finally,the films deposited at low Toff(Toff=1 s)show a faster degradation of MO.

Hydrological Modeling of Upper OumErRabia Basin (Morocco), Comparative Study of the Event-Based and Continuous-Process HEC-HMS Model Methods

Human population growth and land-use changes raise demand and competition for water resources. The Upper OumErRabia River Basin is experiencing high rangeland and matorral conversion to irrigated agricultural land expansion. Given Morocco’s per capita water availability, River-basin hydrologic modelling could potentially bring together agricultural, water resources and conservation objectives. However, not everywhere have hydrological models considered events and continuous assessment of climatic data. In this study, HEC-HMS modelling approach is used to explore the event-based and continuous-process simulation of land-use and land cover change (LULCC) impact on water balance. The use of HEC-GeoHMS facilitated the digital data processing for coupling with the model. The basin’s physical characteristics and the hydro-climatic data helped to generate a geospatial database for HEC-HMS model. We analyzed baseline and future scenario changes for the 1980-2016 period using the SCS Curve-Number and the Soil Moisture Accounting (SMA) loss methods. SMA was coupled with the Hargreaves evapotranspiration method. Model calibration focused on reproducing observed basin runoff hydrograph. Abandoned Quarries in the Akreuch Area (Western Morocco): Inventory of Flora for a Rehabilitation Strategy

Quarrying is an activity contributing to the vitality of the Moroccan economy. However, most of these quarries were abandoned at the end of extraction and became dump and later a place of uncontrolled landfills. The number of restored or rehabilitated quarries is limited and this threatens several aspects of the environment, especially, the quality of surface and ground water, landscape, forests, etc. This also gives rise to increased erosion risk. The study identifies plant species covering 10 abandoned quarries in the region of Rabat, especially the Bouregreg River and its affluent Akreuch in order to define a strategy for their restoration or rehabilitation. Field surveys were led to locate and map 10 abandoned quarries and to sample plant species. Herbaria were established and species were identified and classified. The results of the study distinguished 46 different plant species spread over 45 genera and 27 botanical families. The most dominant family in the quarries visited is Asteraceae. These results will allow us to study the vegetation dynamics in these abandoned lands and serve as a basis, in the selection of appropriate species in eventual restoration or rehabilitation projects.

Geospatial Database Template for Urban Management in Fez (Morocco)

In order to develop an urban GIS of Fez, we began with the scoping and feasibility study of the system. This strategic review has identified the characteristics of the urban areas, their problems, needs and existing potential, both in terms of data, equipment or personnel. This contribution focuses on a conceptual modeling of the geospatial database, the proposed template for the system and the quality assurance plan for the project. According to the feasibility study conducted during the first phase, the system must have an architecture respecting the intervention of actors in the city. Therefore, the implementation of the system requires an adequate hardware and software platform for optimum operation of the proposed urban GIS. After identifying technical choices, the financing plan of this scenario has been proposed. This arrangement is structured in three parts: Hardware, Software and Development/Training.

Effect of Limiting Access to Drinking Water on Carcass Characteristics, Meat Quality and Kidneys of Rabbits

Feed restriction is a common practice to reduce post weaning digestive disorders in rabbits and to get carcasses with less fat. Hydric restriction is commonly used to induce feed restriction in growing rabbits. Two hydric restriction times (2 h and 4 h per day, continuously) were used in our trial carried in good sanitary conditions. Thirty six rabbits were divided at weaning (28 days) into three groups: R2 with restricted access to drinking water from 35 days to 80 days age of 2 h per day (from 8 a. m. to 10 a. m.), R4: access to drinking water 4 h per day (from 8 a. m. to 12 a. m.) and T (control group) with unlimited access to drinking water. Six animals from each group were slaughtered at 80 days of age. Carcass measurements and meat quality were studied. Histological study for kidneys was carried out. Relative weight of gastrointestinal tract increases with the degree of restriction: 16.5, 18.4 and 18.9 for T, R4 and R2, respectively (P < 0.05). Perirenal fat was lower in restricted groups but differences were not statically significant. Scapular fat decreases of 2/3 or 1/3 respectively with limiting access to drinking water of 2 h or 4 h per day. Compared to control group (T), meat of restricted groups contains more water: 70.3%, 70% and 69.3% respectively for R4, R2 and T (P < 0.01). The same tendency was observed for proteins: 19.2%, 19.3% and 17.7% for groups R2, R4 and T. Fat decreases in meat of restricted animals: 8.4%, 8.2% and 8.1% respectively for T, R4 and R2 (P < 0.05). Water restriction induced decrease of carcass and meat adiposity. There were no differences between pH post mortem and pH ultimate (after 24 h) between the three groups. Hydric restriction does not effect on kidney histology.
