Preliminary study on antifertility activity of Enicostemma axillare leaves and Urena lobata root used in Indian traditional folk medicine

Objective:To evaluate the possible antifertility activity of Enicostemma axillare(***) leaves and Urena lobata(***) root in adult male Wistar albino ***:Six groups of rats were treated with ethanolic(70%v/v) extracts of ***(375 and 750 mg/kg body weight) and *** root(300 and 600 mg/kg body weight) once daily for 55 *** groups received the distilled water and *** the treated rats had corresponding recovery *** the end of each treatment periods,animals were killed and organ weights,sperm characteristics,testicular and epididymal biochemicals as well as testicular enzymes were ***:The E. axillare and *** at tested doses did not decrease body weight,whereas the weight of testes, epididymides and seminal vesicles were significantly(P<0.01) ***(P<0.01) more reductions in the sperm motility,viability and counts,epididymal and testicular protein contents were noted in the rats treated with higher dose of both the *** the plants at the higher dose caused a marked increase(P<0.01) in sperm morphological abnormalities,testicular cholesterol and ascorbic acid contents were remarkably increased(P<0.01),while,the activities of testicular glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase(G-6-PDH) andΔ~5-3β-hydroxy steroid dehydrogenase(Δ~5-3β-HSD) were significantly reduced(P<0.01).However,reversal of these changes occurred after 55 days of treatment ***:This study suggests that the ? axillare leaves and *** root reversibly inhibited spermatogenesis and steroidogenesis indicating reversible antifertility activity which could partially support the traditional of these plants as male contraceptives.

AIM: To study the enzyme activity of CYP2C18 variant with exon 5 skipped. METHODS: A full length CYP2C18 cDNA X1 and an exon 5 skipped variant CYP2C18 X2 were separately subcloned into mammalian expression vector pREP9 to transfect HepG2 cells. The expression of CYP2C18 mRNA in transgenic cells and human liver tissues were determined by RT-PCR. The enzyme activity of CYP2C18 to oxidate tolbutamide in postmitochondrial supernate (S9) fraction was determined by HPLC. The cytotoxicity of ifosfamide to transgenic cells was evaluated by MTT test. RESULTS: HepG2-CYP2C18 X1 cells showed strong expression of the full length CYP2C18 mRNA. On the other hand, HepG2-CYP2C18 X2 cells had only infinitesimal expression of the exon-skipped CYP2C18 as well as the full length CYP2C18, while non-transfected HepG2 cell only demonstrated an infinitesimal expression of the full length CYP2C18. Objective:To explore the antispermatogenic and testicular antisleroidogenic activities of Feronia limonia fruit pulp southern ***:Fourty Wistar male albino rats(Ratios norvegicus)were equally divided into four *** groups were administered with the ethanolic extract of Feronia lirnonia(***)fruit pulp at doses of 250 and 500 nig/kg body weight once daily for 55 *** treated rats had corresponding recovery *** the end of each treatment periods,various spermatological indices,tissue biochemicals and testicular enzymes levels were *** profiles were also ***:Compared with the control,the *** pulp at both dose leveb did not decrease body weight,which were associated with decline in epididymal sperm count,motility,viability and increased percent of abnormal ***,*** pulp at 500 mg/kg body weight markedly reduced the epididymal and testicular protein content by 24.58%and 29.86%,respectively,as well as the glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase and△~5-3β-hydroxy steroid dehydrogenase)levels by 42.82%and 38.08%,respectively,while a significant elevation was observed in testicular cholesterol and ascorbic acid content.A gradual recovery of all parameters was observed after 55 days of treatment *** significant alterations in haematological indices were ***:The present findings indicate that *** fruit pulp may have reversible antispermatogenic and antisteroidogenic properties,and could partially support the traditional use as mate contraceptive.

The study by Cao et al aimed to identify early second-trimester biomarkers that could predict gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM)development using advanced proteomic techniques,such as Isobaric tags for relative and absolute quantitation isobaric tags for relative and absolute quantitation and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry liquid chromatography-mass *** analysis revealed 47 differentially expressed proteins in the GDM group,with retinol-binding protein 4 and angiopoietin-like 8 showing significantly elevated serum levels compared to *** these findings are promising,the study is limited by its small sample size(n=4 per group)and lacks essential details on the reproducibility and reliability of the protein quantification methods ***,the absence of experimental validation weakens the interpretation of the protein-protein interaction network identified through bioinformatics *** study's focus on second-trimester biomarkers raises concerns about whether this is a sufficiently early period to implement preventive interventions for *** GDM risk during the first trimester or pre-conceptional period may offer more clinical *** its limitations,the study presents valuable insights into potential GDM biomarkers,but larger,well-validated studies are needed to establish their predictive utility and generalizability.

Evaluation of graphite depressants in a poly-metallic sulfide flotation circuit

Synthetic dyes are commonly used for graphite depression in poly-metallic flotation circuits; however,these dyes can be very expensive. The aim of this study is to evaluate performance of certain low-cost alternative depressants for a complex lead-zinc(Pb-Zn) ore rich in graphite(Gr-C) on a conventional mini pilot-scale flotation circuit. The reagents used were commercial and industrial grade starch; agro-based waste-sugarcane bagasse and charred(burnt) bagasse powder. The primary evaluation criteria were quality(grades) of lead and zinc concentrates, their recoveries(%), and graphite rejection(%) in the *** tests using nigrosine as graphite depressant showed 94.3% rejection of Gr-C. The results with commercial starch were found as effective with 93.8% graphite rejection. Furthermore, bagasse powder showed potential in improving product quality(36.4% and 65.6% Pb grade and recovery) with an intermediate effectiveness in graphite rejection(85.6%). The order of effectiveness in Gr-C rejection follows nigrosine % commercial starch > bagasse > industrial starch > charred bagasse. In addition, the effect these depressants on silver(byproduct) grade and recovery was also investigated.

In this paper,we generalize the concept of asymptotic Hankel operators on H2(D)to the Hardy space H2(Dn)(over polydisk)in terms of asymptotic Hankel and partial asymptotic Hankel operators and investigate some properties in case of its weak and strong ***,we introduce ith-partial Hankel operators on H2(Dn)and obtain a characterization of its compactness for n>*** main results include the containment of Toeplitz algebra in the collection of all strong partial asymptotic Hankel operators on H2(Dn).It is also shown that a Toeplitz operator with symbolφis asymptotic Hankel if and only if φ is holomorphic function in L∞(Tn).

This study presents a parametric system identification approach to estimate the dynamics of a chemical plant from experimental data and develops a robust PID controller for the *** system identification of the heat exchanger system has been carried out using experimental data and prediction error *** estimated model of the heat exchanger system is a time-delay model and a robust PID controller for the time-delayed model has been designed considering weighted sensitivity *** mathematical background of parametric system identification,stability analysis,and H∞ weighted sensitivity analysis have been provided in this paper.A graphical plot has been provided to determine the stability region in the(Kp,Ki),(Kp,Kd)and(KuKd)*** stability region is a locus dependent on parameters of the controller and frequency,in the parameter plane.

Influence of Various Parameters on Collapse Behaviour of Thin Cylinders

Axial compression experiments on as received aluminum tubes and tubes with wall thickness eccentricity incorporated by off centre machining showed that the eccentricity caused transition of their collapse mode from axisymmetric to diamond. The numerical simulation of the collapse phenomenon was undertaken using a static non-linear Finite Element Analysis in ANSYS, and results are found to compare well with the experimental load compression and energy absorption responses for axisymmetric concertina and non-axisymmetric diamond modes. Having validated the numerical model with experiments, it has been used to undertake a systematic study of the load - compression characteristics and collapse mode transitions of the tubes with varying eccentricities in wall thickness and boundary conditions, as well as the material properties.
