Neuropathy optic glaucomatosa induced by systemic hypertension through activation endothelin-1 signaling pathway in central retinal artery in rats

AIM： To evaluate effect of hypertension on retinal ganglion cell（RGC） apoptosis, intraocular pressure（IOP）,and the activation of endothelin-1（ET-1） signaling pathway in central retinal artery（CRA） in ***： The experimental study was performed on20 male Sprague Dawley rats that were divided into control group, and hypertension groups. The hypertension was induced by subcutaneous deoxycorticoacetate（DOCA）10 mg/kg twice a week and administered 0.9% Na Cl solution daily for 2, 6, and 10 wk. Blood pressure（BP） was measured using animal BP analyzer. IOP was measured by handheld tonometry. Retinal tissue preparations by paraffin blocks were made after enucleation. The expression of ET-1, e NOS, ET-1 receptor A（ETRA）, ET-1receptor B（ETRB）, and phosphorylated myosin light chain kinase（MLCK）, and caldesmon（Ca D） in CRA and RGC apoptosis were evaluated through immunofluorescent staining method then observed using laser scanning confocal microscopy. RESULTS： BP significantly increased in all of the hypertension groups compared to control（P =0.001）.Peak IOP elevation（7.78±4.14 mm Hg） and RGC apoptosis（576.15±33.28 Au） occurred on 2wk of hypertension. ET-1expression（1238.6±55.1 Au） and e NOS expression（2814.2±70.7 Au） were found highest in 2wk of hypertension,although the ratio of ET-1/e NOS decreased since *** peak expression in 10 wk of hypertension（1219.4 ±6.3 Au）, while ETRBsignificantly increased only in 2 weeks group（1069.2 ±9.6 Au）. The highest MLCK expression（1190.09±58.32 Au）, Ca D（1670.28±18.36 Au）were also found in 2wk of ***： Hypertension effects to activation of ET-1 signaling pathway significantly in CRA, elevation of IOP, and RGC apoptosis. The highest value was achieved at 2wk, which is the development phase of hypertension.

Rasch Model Assessment for Bloom Digital Taxonomy Applications

Assessment using Bloom’s taxonomy levels has evolved in a variety of contexts and *** the era of the COVID-19 pandemic,which necessitates use of online assessment,the need for teachers to use digital-based taxonomy skills or Bloom’s Digital Taxonomy(BDT)has increased even ***,the existing studies on validity and reliability of BDT items are *** overcome this limitation,this study aims to test whether BDT has good psychometric characteristics as a teacher’s self-assessment tool using the Rasch model analysis and to investigate the pattern of BDT usage in teaching and *** using a quantitative online survey design,this study involves six levels of BDT,namely,Remembering,Understanding,Applying,Analyzing,Evaluating,and *** questionnaire was developed and validated by two experts prior to administration.A stratified random sampling technique was conducted on 774 secondary teachers from five geographical zones in Malaysia,and the Rasch model was analyzed using WINSTEPS 3.71 *** performances of items improved by Rasch psychometric assessment including the application of BDT among *** hierarchy level was also assessed through graphical analysis,including the Wright map and bubble chart,to demonstrate the powerful performance of the Rasch model analysis in investigating item quality and ***,these empirically validated items using the Rasch model could advance the academic knowledge of BDT for future assessment and promote the Rasch calibration in an educational setting.

Selective microwave absorption in Nd3+ substituted barium ferrite composites

Microwave(MW)frequency based wireless communications and electronic devices became prospective due to several *** meet this need,a series of neodymium ions(Nd3+)substituted barium ferrite composites with composition(20)BaO:(80-x)Fe2 O3:(x)Nd2 O3(0≤x≤3 mol%)was prepared at1100℃using solid-state reaction *** evaluated the effect of various Nd3+ions contents on the surface morphology,structure,and magnetic properties of the as-synthesized barium ferrite ***,microwave reflection loss,complex permittivity and permeability were determined using the transmission/reflection line method in the X-band(8-12 GHz).SEM image of the composites shows that the surface morphology consists of rough and porous *** patterns of the un-doped composites reveal the existence of BaFe12O19(hexagonal)and Fe21.333O32(tetragonal)crystalline ***,a new hexagonal crystalline phase of Ba6 Nd2 Fe4 O15 with the crystallite sizes between 15 and 67 nm is observed due to Nd3+ions substitution in the *** saturation magnetization of the composite containing 2 mol%of Nd3+does not exhibit any significant alteration compared to the one devoid of Nd3+.The complex relative permitivity and permeability of the achieved composites enriched in Ba6 Nd2 Fe4 O15 and BaFe2 O4 phases disclose significant MW frequency *** composites also display selective MW absorption in the X-band which could be useful for diverse applications.

Kinematic Analysis and Rock Mass Classifications for Rock Slope Failure at USAID Highways

Rock slope kinematic analysis and rock mass classifications has been conducted at the 17^(th) km to 26^(th) km of USAID(United States Agency for International Development)highway in *** research aimed to examine the type of rock slope failures and the quality of rock mass as *** scan-line method was performed in six slopes by using a geological compass to determine rock mass structure on the rock slope,and the condition of joints such as persistence,aperture,roughness,infilling material,weathering and groundwater *** kinematic analysis was performed employing a stereographic *** rock slope quality and stability were investigated based on RMR(rock mass rating)and SMR(slope mass rating)*** rock slope kinematic analysis revealed that planar failure was likely to occur in Slope 1,3,and 4,the wedge failure in Slope 1 and 6,and toppling failure in Slope 2,5,and *** RMR rating is ranging from 57 to 64 and can be categorized as Fair to Good *** SMR rating revealed that the failure probability of Slope 3 was 90%,while it was from 40%to 60%for *** the uniform RMR for all slopes,the SMR was significantly *** detailed quantitative consideration of orientation of joint sets and geometry of the slope contributed to such differences in outcomes.

Prevalence and factors associated with belief in COVID-19 vaccine efficacy in Indonesia:A cross-sectional study

IVlelatonin ameliorates the adverse effects of leptin on sperm

This study examined the effects of melatonin on leptin-induced changes in sperm parameters in adult rats. Five groups of Sprague-Dawley rats were treated with either leptin or leptin and melatonin or melatonin for 6 weeks. Leptin was given daily via the intraperitoneal route （60 μg kg-1 body weight） and melatonin was given in drinking water （10 mg kg-1 or 20 mg kg-1 body weight per day）. Upon completion, sperm count, sperm morphology, 8-hydroxy-2-deoxyguanosine, Comet assay, TUNEL assay, gene expression profiles of antioxidant enzymes, respiratory chain reaction enzymes, DNA damage, and apoptosis genes were estimated. Data were analyzed using ANOVA. Sperm count was significantly lower whereas the fraction of sperm with abnormal morphology, the level of 8-hydroxy-2-deoxyguanosine, and sperm DNA fragmentation were significantly higher in rats treated with leptin only. Micmarray analysis revealed significant upregulation of apoptosis-inducing factor, histone acetyl transferase, respiratory chain reaction enzyme, cell necrosis and DNA repair genes, and downregulation of antioxidant enzyme genes in leptin-treated rats. Real-time polymerase chain reaction showed significant decreases in glutathione peroxidase 1 expression with increases in the expression of apoptosis-inducing factor and histone acetyl transferase in leptin-treated rats. There was no change in the gene expression of caspase-3 （CASP-3）. In conclusion, the adverse effects of leptin on sperm can be prevented by concurrent melatonin administration.

Kenaf cellulose-based poly(amidoxime) ligand for adsorption of rare earth ions

A well-known adsorbent, poly(amidoxime)ligand, was prepared from polyacrylonitrile(PAN) grafted kenaf cellulose, and subsequent characterization was performed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),field emission scanning electron microscope(FESEM) and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry(ICP-MS).The adsorption capacities of the prepared ligand for rare earth metals are found to be excellent, with adsorptions of La^(3+), Ce^(3+), Pr^(3+), Gd^(3+) and Nd^(3+) experimentally determined to be 262, 255, 244, 241 and 233 mg·g^(-1), respectively, at pH 6. The experimental values of the adsorption of rare earth metals are well matched with the pseudosecond-order rate equation. The reusability of the adsorbent is examined for seven cycles of sorption/desorption,demonstrating that the proposed adsorbent could be reused for over seven cycles without any significant loss in the original removal capability of the ligand.

Peer pressure and academic stress among junior high school students:a cross-sectional study

Objective:The objective of the study was to explore the connection between peer pressure and academic stress among junior high school ***:This descriptive correlational study was conducted to investigate the link between perceived peer pressure and academic *** study involved a total of 525 adolescents,aged 14-19 years,drawn from 6 public junior high schools(PJHS)in Padang,Indonesia,using purposive *** stress and perceived peer pressure were assessed using the Educational Stress Scale for Adolescents(ESSA)and the Perceived Peer Pressure Scale(PPPS).Results:The findings indicated significant variations in stress levels among students in different grade levels(7th,8th,and 9th grades)(P0.05).Additionally,there was a positive correlation observed between perceived peer pressure and academic stress(r=0.14,P<0.05).Furthermore,multiple regression analyses,incorporating demographic variables and perceived peer pressure as independent factors,yielded statistically significant results(adjusted R^(2)=0.082,F=4.33,P<0.001).Notably,peer pressure had a direct impact on academic stress among adolescents,with class level and parents’educational background mediating the relationship between academic stress and adolescent behavioral ***:These findings underscore the importance of addressing both external and internal factors at the individual,family,school,and societal levels to enhance adolescents’psychological resilience and mitigate problem behaviors.

Bamboo Taper Effect on Center Point Bending Test

Bamboo became the best material choice for sustainable construction because it is fully renewable materials. Indonesian people traditionally choose bamboo for their housing since a long time ago. Bamboo stems usually have unique shape. Its geometrical shape assumed as tapered hollow pipe. This study aims to find the effect of bamboo taper to its strength properties on center point bending test. The ratio between the Modulus of Rupture （S~） calculated in the center point, and the maximum bending stress along the beam is called strength ratio of taper （Ct）. The theoretical calculation results Ct value is 1 if the taper lower than 0.023, while Ct value become lower if the taper is higher than 0.023. The survey on Ampel （Bambusa vulgaris Schrad.）, Tali （Gigantochloa apus （BI. Ex Schult. f） Kurz）, Gombong （Gigantochloa verticillata （Willd.） Munro）, and Mayan （Gigantochloa robusta Kurz.） found that the overall taper range is -0.0047-0.0088 and 0-0.0127 for inner and outer taper respectively. On that overall range the Ct value is always 1, so it is reasonable to ignore the taper effect on one point bending test.

Synthesis of ion imprinted polymers for selective recognition and separation of rare earth metals

Lanthanide-ion imprinted polymers（L-IIPs） were synthesized by stoichiometric amounts of rare earth ions and the cavities in the polymers were created for the corresponding lanthanide ions. The maximum sorption capacities were estimated to be 125.3, 126.5, 127.6, 128.2 and 129.1 mg/g for Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu and Gd, respectively at p H 6. In the selectivity study, the L-IIPs exhibited good selectivity to the specific rare earth ions in the presence of coexisting cations. The imprinting results were found to be excellent with some rare earth ions over other competitor rare earth ions with the same charges and close ionic radius.
