Unsupervised calibration for noninvasive glucose-monitoring devices using mid-infrared spectroscopy

Noninvasive,glucose-monitoring technologies using infrared spectroscopy that have been studied typically require a calibration process that involves blood collection,which renders the methods somewhat *** develop a truly noninvasive,glucose-monitoring technique using midinfrared spectroscopy that does not require blood collection for calibration by applying domain adaptation(DA)using deep neural networks to train a model that associates blood glucose concentration with mid-infrared spectral data without requiring a training dataset labeled with invasive blood sample *** realizing DA,the distribution of unlabeled spectral data for calibration is considered through adversarial update during training networks for regression to blood glucose *** calibration improved the correlation coeffcient between the true blood glucose concentrations and predicted blood glucose concentrations from 0.38 to *** result indicates that this calibration technique improves prediction accuracy for mid-infrared glucose measurements without any invasively acquired data.

Fabrication of Co2Fe（Al,Si） and Co2Fe（Al,Si）/MgO on Ge（111） Substrate and Its Magnetic Properties

We investigated the interfacial effects on magnetic properties in Co2Fe(Al,Si)/Ge (CFAS/Ge) and CFAS/MgO/Ge systems to demonstrate the effects of the interface structure on magnetic properties. CFAS and CFAS/MgO were deposited on the i-Ge(111) substrate. In-situ reflection high energy electron diffraction (RHEED) patterns showed epitaxially grown CFAS and MgO on Ge(111). According to the X-ray diffraction (XRD)φ-scan of CFAS(220), we determined that the crystallographic orientation relationships were CFAS(111)//Ge(111) and CFAS(111)//MgO(111) Ge(111). The magnetic properties were measured by the vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) and the saturation magnetization Ms value of CFAS with 2-nm thick MgO reached the value of L21 ordered one. A uniaxial magnetic anisotropy behavior was observed both in CFAS/Ge and CFAS/MgO/Ge structures after annealing. We confirmed the behavior did not only originate from the CFAS/Ge interface but also CFAS/MgO and the ordering structure.

Electrospinning of Nylon-6,6 Solutions into Nanofibers: Rheology and Morphology Relationships

The relationship between the rheological properties of nylon-6,6 solutions and the morphology of their electrospun nanofibers was established. The viscosity of nylon-6,6 in formic acid （90%） was measured in the concentration range of 5 wt%-25 wt% using a programmable viscometer. Electrospinning of nylon-6,6 solutions was carried out under controlled parameters. The chemical structure, morphology and thermal properties of the obtained nanofibers were investigated using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy （FTIR）, scanning electron microscopy （SEM） and differential scanning calorimetry （DSC）, respectively, Entanglement concentration （ce） was found to be 15 wt% and a power law relationship between specific viscosity and solution concentration was observed with exponents of 2.0 and 3.3 for semi-dilute unentangled （c 〈 ce） and semi-dilute entangled （c 〉 ce） regimes, respectively. The diameter and uniformity of the nanofibers were found to be dependent on the viscosity. Moreover, the average diameter of electrospun nanofibers was found to be dependent on zero shear rate viscosity and normalized concentration （c/ce） in a power law relationship with exponents of 0.298 and 0.816, respectively. For nylon-6,6 solutions, the entanglement concentration （ce = 15 wt%） provides the threshold viscosity required for the formation of a stable polymeric jet during electrospinning and producing uniform beadless fibers. For concentrations less than ce, beaded fibers with some irregularities are formed. DSC analysis showed an increase in crystallinity of all electrospun samples compared to original polymer. Furthermore; Based on FTIR spectroscopy, α phase is dominant in electrospun nanofibers and minor amount offland ）,phases is also available.

Dissolution of Al_2TiO_5 inclusions in CaO-SiO_2-Al_2O_3 slags at 1823 K

Al-Ti-O inclusions always clog submerged nozzles in Ti-bearing Al-killed steel.A typical synthesized Al2TiO5 inclusion was immersed in a CaO-SiO2-Al2O3 molten slag for different durations at 1823 *** Al2TiO5 dissolution paths and mechanism were revealed by scanning electron microscopy （SEM） and energy dispersive spectroscopy （EDS）.Decreased amounts of Ti and Al and increased amounts of Si and Ca at the dissolution boundary prove that inclusion dissolution and slag penetration simultaneously ***2 diffuses or penetrates the inclusion more quickly than CaO,as indicated by the w（CaO）/w（SiO2） value in the reaction region.A liquid product （containing 0.7-1.2 w（CaO）/w（SiO2）,15wt%-20wt% Al2O3,and 5wt%-15wt% TiO2） forms on the inclusion surface when Al2TiO5 is dissolved in the ***2TiO5 initially dissolves faster than the diffusion rate of the liquid product toward the bulk *** increasing reaction time,the boundary reaches its largest distance,the Al2TiO5 dissolution rate equals the liquid product diffusion rate,and the dissolution process remains stable until the inclusion is completely dissolved.

Fabrication of Al-Coated Mg-Li Alloy Sheet and Investigation of Its Properties

An Al-coated Mg-8 mass% Li alloy rectangular bar was fabricated by hot extrusion, and then, it was hot-rolled into a thin sheet. The Al coating was uniform in thickness and had good bonding with the substrate during all the processing. This Alcoated Mg–Li alloy exhibited a good corrosion resistance in a 0.5 mass% HCl aqueous solution. No intermetallic compound was observed at the Al/Mg–Li interface after the extrusion and the rolling. The Al-coated Mg–Li alloy sheet exhibited an elongation to fracture of 35% at room temperature at a strain rate of 0.001 s(-1)without any debonding between the coating and the substrate. When tensile tested at 573 K at 0.001 s(-1)in the air, the Al coating remained undamaged even until an elongation of about 150%. Further elongation generated cracks on the coating and the specimen fractured at an elongation of about 200%. In an Ar atmosphere, the specimen exhibited a fracture elongation of over 400% under the same conditions at 573 K at 0.001 s(-1), although a large number of cracks generated on the Al coating.

Advances in high carbon dioxide separation performance of poly(ethylene oxide)-based membranes

CHANGES IN AIRWAY SPACE FOLLOWING MANDIBULAR SETBACK USING SAGITTAL SPLIT OSTEOTOMY AND RIGID INTERNAL FIXATION

The changes in airway space following mandibular setback using sagittal split osteotomy and rigid internal fixation were studied in 28 Japanese patients with mandibular prognathism. The correlation between the amount of mandibular setback and airway space changes,as well as the correlation between the amount of airway space changes and relapse of pognion point during the following-up period were also studied. Lateral cephalometric radiographs were taken immediately before and shortly after surgery as well as 5 to 12 months postoperation. The cephalometric evaluations of airway space width and area were based on stable craniofacial landmarks. The mean setback of mandible was 8.3 mm in the right side,and 8. 2 mm in the left side. The mean amount of relapse of pogonion point during the following-up period was 0. 52 mm horizontally,and 0. 92 mm vertically. A significant decrease in airway space width and area,especially in the lower part of airway space was found following mandibular setback shortly after surgery. Although there was some increase both in airway space width and area during the following-up period,they did not increase to their original values. This suggests that the narrowing of airway space following mandibular setback using sagittal split osteotomy can be permanent. No significant correlation was found between the amount of mandibular setback and airway space changes. Since the relapse of pogonion point during the following-up period was too small,there is no significant correlation between it and the amount of airway space changes.

Thermodynamic Properties of Inclusions Formed Aluminum-Titanium Deoxidation of Molten Steel

Titanium alloyed steel has been widely used as automobile sheet steels, thick plate steels, and also stainless steels to improve the mechanical and chemical properties of many grade steels. Since Ti has strong affinity with oxygen, Ti is normally alloyed after Al deoxidation to keep the high yield of Ti. Therefore, Al-Ti deoxidation is one of the common and important secondary refining processes. Although the chemical stability diagram for this system has been reported by many researchers, these diagrams are inconsistent significantly each other. In the present study, the stability region of Al2TiO5 oxide was measured by equilibrating Fe-Al-Ti alloy and Al2TiO5 pellet in Al2O3 crucible at 1873 K. However, inclusions in metal after equilibration were Ti-containing Al2O3 or Al-containing TiOx. The precise phase diagrams and related thermodynamic data for the Al2O3-TiOx-FeO system should be determined.
