Dear Editor,Intensive treatments such as primary androgen deprivation therapy(pADT)plus docetaxel or abiraterone acetate are reportedly beneficial in metastatic prostate cancer(mPCa)patients with high-volume disease or high-risk features,respectively.1,2 High-volume or high-risk features are determined exclusively via pretreatment *** patient responsiveness to pADT,which is one of the major determinants of survival in these patients,would be advantageous with regard to making primary treatment *** an initial 3-month period is possible,short-term serum parameter dynamics can be used to predict pADT ***-specific antigen(PSA)and alkaline phosphatase(ALP)dynamics have been indicated as potential predictors.3,4 Although pADT can reportedly cause a 20%-30%decrease in adrenal androgen levels,5 it is not known whether the dynamics of adrenal androgens shortly after the initiation of pADT can predict pADT *** aim of the current study was to identify predictors of pADT responsiveness among pretreatment parameters and 3-month dynamics(D3m)of serum parameters including the adrenal androgen,dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate(DHEAS).

Efficient high harmonics generation(HHG) was demonstrated at 10 MHz repetition rate with an external femtosecond enhancement cavity, seeded by a ～70 fs post-compressed 10 MHz fiber chirped pulse amplifier(FCPA) laser. Operation lasting over 30 min with 0.1 m W outcoupled power at 149 nm was demonstrated. It was found that shorter pulse was beneficial for alleviating the nonlinear plasma effect and improving the efficiency of HHG. Low finesse cavity can relax the plasma nonlinearity clamped intra-cavity power and improve the cavity-locking stability. The pulse duration is expected to be below 100 fs for both 1040 nm and 149 nm outputs, making it ideal for applications such as time-resolved photoemission spectroscopy.

The present study addressed the change in the microstructure of Al-2.5 wt%Fe binary alloy produced using laser powder bed fusion(L-PBF)technique by thermal exposure at 300℃,and the associated mechanical and thermal properties were systematically examined as ***-semi-cylindrical patterns corresponding to melt pools in the microstructure were macroscopically observed for the asmanufactured *** change in the melt-pool morphology was observed after thermal exposure for1000 *** the melt pools,a large number of the nanoscale metastable Al6 Fe phase particles were uniformly distributed inside columnar grains of theα-Al matrix containing concentrated solute Fe in *** sequential formation and coarsening of stableθ-Al13 Fe4 phases were observed upon exposure to a 300℃ environment,but a considerable amount of nano-sized metastable Al6 Fe phases remained even after 1000 ***,the thermal exposure continuously reduced the concentration of solute Fe atoms in theα-Al *** significant grain growth was found inα-Al matrix after 1000 h owing to the pinning effect of the dispersed fine particles on grain boundary *** results demonstrate a sluggish change in microstructural morphologies of the Al-2.5 wt%Fe *** quantified microstructural parameters addressed dominant strengthening contributions by the solid solution of Fe element and Orowan strengthening mechanism by fine Al-Fe intermetallics in the L-PBF-produced *** high strength level was sustained even after being exposed to 300℃ for long *** superior balance of mechanical properties and thermal conductivity can be achieved in the experimental alloys by taking advantage of the various microstructural parameters related to the Al-Fe intermetallic phases andα-Al matrix.

Purpose–Level 3 automated driving,which has been defined by the Society of Automotive Engineers,may cause driver drowsiness or lack of situation awareness,which can make it difficult for the driver to recognize where he/she ***,the purpose of this study was to conduct an experimental study with a driving simulator to investigate whether automated driving affects the driver’s own localization compared to manual ***/methodology/approach–Seventeen drivers were divided into the automated operation group and manual operation *** in each group were instructed to travel along the expressway and proceed to the specified *** automated operation group was forced to select a course after receiving a Request to Intervene(RtI)from an automated driving ***–A driver who used the automated operation system tended to not take over the driving operation correctly when a lane change is immediately required after the ***/value–This is a fundamental research that examined how the automated driving operation affects the driver's own *** experimental results suggest that it is not enough to simply issue an RtI,and it is necessary to tell the driver what kind of circumstances he/she is in and what they should do next through the *** conclusion can be taken into consideration for engineers who design automatic driving vehicles.

AIM: To evaluate interferon-λ3(IFNL3) polymorphisms in response-guided pegylated interferon-α plus ribavirin(Peg-IFNα/RBV) therapy for genotype 2(G2) chronic hepatitis ***: Between January 2006 and June 2012, a total of 180 patients with chronic infections of G2 hepatitis C virus(HCV) were treated with responseguided Peg-IFNα/RBV therapy. The treatment duration was 24 wk for patients who achieved rapid virologic response(RVR), and 36 or 48 wk for patients who did not. Then, the impact of the IFNL3 single nucleotide polymorphism genotype(TT/non-TT at rs8099917) on treatment outcomes was evaluated in the 180 patients, and between patients infected with either HCV subgenotype 2a or ***: Of the 180 patients evaluated, 111 achieved RVR, while the remaining 69 patients did not. In RVR patients, the sustained virologic response(SVR) rate was 96.4%, and the IFNL3 genotype did not influence the SVR rate(96.6% vs 95.8% in IFNL3 genotype TT vs non-TT). However, in non-RVR patients, the SVR rate decreased to 72.5%(P < 0.0001), and this rate was significantly different between the IFNL3 genotype TT and non-TT groups(80.0% vs 42.9%, P = 0.0146). Multivariate regression analysis in non-RVR patients identified the IFNL3 genotype TT as the only baseline-significant factor associated with SVR(OR = 5.39, 95%CI: 1.29-22.62; P = 0.0189). In analysis according to HCV sub-genotype, no significant difference in the SVR rate was found between HCV sub-genotypes 2a and ***: In response-guided Peg-IFNα/RBV combination therapy for chronically HCV G2-infected patients, the impact of the IFNL3 genotype on SVR was limited to non-RVR patients.

Advanced driver assistance systems, especially autonomous emergency braking and forward collision warnings, have becomepopular in Japan. To reduce the number of road traffic accidents, safety information should be provided to a driver earlier thanavoidance or warning messages so as to avoid a risky situation. A series of actual running tests was conducted to evaluate theactivation timing and effectiveness of awareness messages. Objective analysis showed that the drivers could avoid an obstaclewith a sufficient safety margin thanks to any of the awareness messages. Subjective ratings showed that the best timing is 10 sbefore encountering the obstacle. The results of objective analysis are limited in the present paper, and further analyses arerequired.

We have developed a personal-computer-based water quality analysis system for river basins. The system estimates potential N outflow by model and calculates actual N outflow from monitoring data. For the former it uses the potential load factor method to estimate annual nitrogen load from various sources and runoff potential from each area of land in a basin. For the latter it analyzes water quality monitoring data in relation to meteorological data. We used the system to analyze N outflow in basins around Lake Kasumigaura and the Yahagi River in central Honshu, Japan. The land around Lake Kasumigaura is rather flat, and about 25% is periodically flooded for rice and lotus cultivation. The land around the Yahagi River is mountainous, and much less land is flooded. In the Yahagi River basin the actual N outflow agreed closely with the potential. However, the actual N outflow in the basin around Lake Kasumigaura was much less than the potential, suggesting that a large part of the N load is denitrified in flooded soils. This further indicates that a sequence of different land uses including flooded rice fields is an important factor determining N outflow in basins in Japan. On the basis of the above analyses, we incorporated a denitrification model into the system that enables us to estimate N balance in a designated basin;this system may be helpful in the formulation of scenarios of land use andsoil management for improving water quality.

The dynamic behavior of organelles is essential for plant survival under various environmental conditions. Plant organelles, with various functions,migrate along actin filaments and contact other types of organelles, leading to physical interactions at a specific site called the membrane contact site. Recent studies have revealed the importance of physical interactions in maintaining efficient metabolite flow between *** this review, we first summarize peroxisome function under different environmental conditions and growth stages to understand organelle interactions. We then discuss current knowledge regarding the interactions between peroxisome and other organelles, i.e., the oil bodies, chloroplast, and mitochondria from the perspective of metabolic and physiological regulation, with reference to various organelle interactions and techniques for estimating organelle interactions occurring in plant cells.

Japan has yet to establish a seismic design for road box culverts(RBCs)because past major earthquakes did not damage *** recent years,structures with enlarged sectional dimensions(the purpose of which is to optimize the internal space in RBCs)have become ***,the unknown seismic strength of such large RBCs makes RBC seismic designs increasingly *** seismic design methods have been developed for and applied to rectangular underground structures,e.g.,cut-and-cover tunnels,which are structurally similar to *** these methods are applicable to RBCs,it is uncertain whether they can be applied directly because there are currently no evaluation results from model tests on RBCs,which have unique structural features,e.g.,no haunch at the bottom of the ***,we verify a seismic behavior of an RBC and develop a method for evaluating it in order to establish a seismic design for *** conducted centrifuge model tests subjected to seismic force and a numerical analysis using an elastoplastic finite analysis method,in addition,we validated this analysis by comparing the test and analytical *** test results show RBCs will most likely develop rocking rotation when the ground strain exceeds approximately 0.08%.A comparison of the numerical and experimental results shows that this analysis can estimate the shear deformation behavior with approximately 90%accuracy in square cross-section ***,this analysis has tendency to underestimate the axial forces in each case and to overestimate the bending moments of some members in the case of wide cross-sections.
