Half-metallic ferromagnetism,mechanical as well as thermoelectric properties for rare earth-based spinels MgHo_(2)Z_(4)(Z=S,Se)were investigated using density functional theory(DFT).Structural optimization was done with Perdew-Burke-Ehrenzorf(PBE)sol-generalized gradient approximation(GGA)to calculate the lattice constant of both spinels comparable to experimental *** addition,Born stability criteria and negative formation energy show that our studied spinels are also structurally and dynamically stable in the cubic *** ferromagnetic(FM)state stability,we also calculated the energy differences among FM,antiferromagnetic(AFM),and non-magnetic(NM)***,Curie temperatures of ferromagnetic phases were also *** used Trans-Blaha improved BeckeJohnson(TB-mBJ)potential functional for electronics as well as magnetic characteristics,which lead to the consistent explanation of half-metallic ferromagnetism,representing the whole band-occupancy in material with exact detail of density of states(DOS).The stable FM state was examined in spinels due to the exchange splitting of Ho cation consisting of p-d hybridizations compatible with the result achieved for electronics band structure and ***,spin magnetic moment was explained in terms of anion,cation,and sharing charge on studied *** addition,the calculated thermoelectric properties clearly show that operation range of these systems may be utilized by future experimental works for identifying the potential applications of these systems.

Orexins (or hypocretins) are hypothalamic neuropeptides with a multitude of physiological functions. They occur in two known forms, namely, orexin A and orexin B with a common precursor, preproorexin. The orexin receptors (orexin 1R and orexin 2R) belong to the Family of G-protein coupled receptors. The primary function of the orexin system,i.e. the orexins, their receptors and associated neuronal circuitries, perhaps is to increase spontaneous physical activity and food intake, thereby promoting an increase in energy expenditure. Reports suggest that orexins may be the key brain components to mediate the mechanism of obesity resistance. Recent research also has thrown lights upon a significant role of orexins, especially orexin A, in regulation of male reproductive functions owing to their receptor expressions in vital testicular cells, such as Leydig cells, Sertoli cells as well as spermatozoa at different developmental stages, even in the epididymis and penis. Moreover, orexins have been reported to greatly influence gonadotropin-releasing hormone neurons and their secretions to regulate reproductive functionsvia modulation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis. Evidence thus implicates participation of orexins in steroidogenesis, spermatogenesis, transportation and maturation of sperm as well as in the control of penile function. However, further research is required in this direction to elucidate the mechanisms by which orexins play a role in different testicular functions and effect of orexins on semen quality.

Previous research has explored the potential to integrate lidar and optical data in aboveground biomass(AGB)estimation,but how different data sources,vegetation types,and modeling algorithms influence AGB estimation is poorly *** research conducts a comparative analysis of different data sources and modeling approaches in improving AGB ***-based spectral responses and textures,lidar-derived metrics,and their combination were used to develop AGB estimation *** results indicated that(1)overall,RapidEye data are not suitable for AGB estimation,but when AGB falls within 50–150 Mg/ha,support vector regression based on stratification of vegetation types provided good AGB estimation;(2)Lidar data provided stable and better estimations than RapidEye data;and stratification of vegetation types cannot improve estimation;(3)The combination of lidar and RapidEye data cannot provide better performance than lidar data alone;(4)AGB ranges affect the selection of the best AGB models,and a combination of different estimation results from the best model for each AGB range can improve AGB estimation;(5)This research implies that an optimal procedure for AGB estimation for a specific study exists,depending on the careful selection of data sources,modeling algorithms,forest types,and AGB ranges.

Sperm counts in Asian men: Reviewing the trend of past 50 years

Objective:To reveal the trend in alterations of sperm counts in Asian men over the past 50 ***:This study reviewed all the published reports to unveil the specific pattern of alterations of sperm concentrations in Asian men from 1965 till 2015. The time-related changes in sperm concentration were studied using linear regression ***:The present study elucidated the trend using the reports from Carlsenet al(1965-1990) and non-Carlsen studies published until 2015, on fertile Asian men. In the reports of Carlsenet al., no overall declining trend in Asian men (r = 0.509,P= 0.760) was observed during this tenure, but non-Carsen reports showed a significant time-dependent decline of sperm concentration (r = -0.754, P = 0.005) in Asian men. This present review also showed a mild time-dependant decline in sperm concentration (-0.44×106/mL/year, 95% CI: -0.65 to -0.23;r = -0.473,P = 0.040) which accounted for an overall 22.17% decrease in past 50 ***:This study brings to the forefront that sperm concentration among Asian men follows a mild declining trend over the period of 50 years, and further studies addressing the causes of this decline are required.

目的探讨"去组织"的双胸廓内动脉在高龄患者非体外循环心脏不停跳下冠脉搭桥术中的应用,评价该技术对老年胸骨愈合的影响。方法202例年龄>65岁的不停跳冠状动脉搭桥患者采用双侧"去组织"的乳内动脉,急诊手术8例,部分患者合并有糖尿病、高血压及慢性阻塞性肺疾病。桥血管采取裸化的、去组织的乳内动脉,尽量保留胸骨血供的侧支循环。结果202例患者平均搭桥3.2支(包括续贯桥)。手术死亡率(术后30d内)3%,其中年龄≥80岁死亡率6.8%,<80岁者为2.4%;术后围手术期心肌梗死5例(2.5%),有胸骨感染4例(2%),还有4例(2%)因术后渗血2次开胸止血。结论高龄患者冠脉搭桥中采用裸化的乳内动脉作为旁路材料,其手术死亡率低,围术期恢复快。术后远期通畅率和生存率高,心功能改善显著,而胸骨感染的发生率低。但在合并有慢性阻塞性肺疾病、糖尿病及急诊手术中应慎重考虑。

Background Overgrazing was assumed to increase the population density of small mammals that are the intermediate hosts of Echinococcus multilocularis, the pathogen of alveolar echinococcosis in the Qinghai Tibet Plateau. This research tested the hypothesis that overgrazing might promote Echinococcus multilocularis transmission through increasing populations of small mammal, intermediate hosts in Tibetan pastoral communities. Methods Grazing practices, small mammal indices and dog Echinococcus multilocularis infection data were collected to analyze the relation between overgrazing and Echinococcus multilocularis transmission using nonparametric tests and multiple stepwise logistic regression. Results In the investigated area, raising livestock was a key industry. The communal pastures existed and the available forage was deficient for grazing. Open （common） pastures were overgrazed and had higher burrow density of small mammals compared with neighboring fenced （private） pastures; this high overgrazing pressure on the open pastures measured by neighboring fenced area led to higher burrow density of small mammals in open pastures. The median burrow density of small mammals in open pastures was independently associated with nearby canine Echinococcus multilocularis infection （P=-0.003, OR=1.048）. Conclusion Overgrazing may promote the transmission of Echinococcus multilocularis through increasing the population density of small mammals.

Background Alveolar echinococcosis is a major zoonosis of public health significance in western China. Overgrazing was recently assumed as a potential risk factor for transmission of alveolar echinococcosis. The research was designed to further test the overgrazing hypothesis by investigating how overgrazing influenced the burrow density of intermediate host small mammals and how the burrow density of small mammals was associated with dog Echinococcus multilocularis infection. Methods The study sites were chosen by previous studies which found areas where the alveolar echinococcosis was prevalent. The data, including grass height, burrow density of intermediate host small mammals, dog and fox fecal samples as well as Global Positioning System （GPS） position, were collected from field investigations in Shiqu County, Sichuan Province, China. The fecal samples were analyzed using copro-PCR. The worms, teeth, bones and hairs in the fecal samples were visually examined. Single factor and multifactor analyses tools including chi square and generalized linear models were applied to these data. Results By using grass height as a proxy of grazing grass in the pasture led to lower small mammals＇ pressure in the homogenous pasture, this study found that taller burrow density （X2=4.670, P=0.031, coefficient=-1.570）. The Echinococcus multilocularis worm burden in dogs was statistically significantly related to the maximum density of the intermediate host Ochotona spp. （X2=5.250, P=-0.022, coefficient=0.028）. The prevalence in owned dogs was positively correlated to the number of stray dogs seen within a 200 meter radius （Wald X2=8.375, P=-0.004, odds ratio=1.198）. Conclusions Our findings support the hypothesis that overgrazing promotes transmission of alveolar echinococcosis and confirm the role of stray dogs in the transmission of alveolar echinococcosis.
