Discontinuous chains of ultramafic rock bodies form part of the 3800–3700 Ma Isua Supracrustal Belt(ISB),hosted in the Itsaq Gneiss Complex of southwestern *** bodies are among the world’s oldest outcrops of ultramafic rocks and hence an invaluable geologic *** rocks from Lens B in the northwestern limb of ISB show characteristics of several stages of serpentinization and deserpentinization forming prograde and retrograde mineral ***-rich humite-group minerals such as titanian chondrodite(Ti-Chn)and titanian clinohumite(Ti-Chu)often occur as accessory phases in the metamorphosed ultramafic *** Ti-rich humite minerals are associated with metamorphic *** host olivine is highly forsteritic(Fo96-98)with variable Mn O and Ni O *** concentrations of the rare-earth elements(REE)and high-field strength elements(HFSE)of the metamorphic olivine are higher than typical mantle *** textural and chemical characteristics of the olivine indicate metamorphic origin as a result of deserpentinization of a serpentinized ultramafic protolith rather than primary assemblage reflecting mantle residues from high-degrees of partial *** close association of olivine,antigorite and intergrown Ti-Chn and Ti-Chu suggests pressure condition between$1.3–2.6 GPa within the antigorite stability field(<700°C).The overall petrological and geochemical features of Lens B ultramafic body within the Eoarchean ISB indicate that these are allochthonous ultramafic rocks that recorded serpentine dehydration at relatively lower temperature and reached eclogite facies condition during their complex metamorphic history similar to exhumed UHP ultramafic rocks in modern subduction zone channels.

A unique case of collagenous colitis presenting as protein-losing enteropathy successfully treated with prednisolone

A 76-year-old woman with a 5-mo history of recurrent diarrhea and generalized edema was admitted to our hospital. Colonoscopy revealed edematous mucosa,and histopathological examination was compatible with collagenous colitis. Protein leakage from the colon,particularly in the ascending portion,was identified on 99mTc-human serum albumin scintigraphy. Collagenous colitis associated with protein-losing enteropathy (PLE) without small bowel disease was diagnosed. Prednisolone treatment ameliorated diarrhea and hypoproteinemia. Collagenous colitis should be included in the differential diagnosis of chronic diarrhea with hypoproteinemia for appropriate management.

Commonalities and differences between Brassica and Arabidopsis self-incompatibility

In higher plants,the self-incompatibility mechanism is important for inhibition of self-fertilization and facilitation of *** Brassicaceae,the self-incompatibility response is mediated by allele-specific interaction of the stigma-localized S-locus receptor kinase(SRK)with the pollen coat-localized ligand(SCR/SP11).All self-incompatible Brassicaceae plants analyzed have been found to have the SRK and SCR/SP11 genes in the S-locus *** Arabidopsis thaliana is self-compatible,transformation with functional SRK-SCR genes from self-incompatible Arabidopsis species confers the self-incompatibility phenotype to *** allele-specific interaction between SRK and SCR activates the downstream signaling cascade of *** two-hybrid analysis with a kinase domain of SRK as bait and genetic analysis suggested several candidate components of self-incompatibility signaling in ***,*** genes orthologous to the identified genes for Brassica self-incompatibility signaling were evaluated by using a self-incompatible transgenic *** plant and these orthologous genes were found not to be involved in self-incompatibility signaling in the transgenic *** this review,we describe common and different aspects of S-locus genomic regions and self-incompatibility signaling between Brassica and Arabidopsis.

The Study of Experiences during Pregnancy in a Woman with Type 1 Diabetes

Background: This study aimed to elucidate the experiences of a woman with type 1 diabetes during the course of her pregnancy. Method: This case study involved 1 participant. Data were collected through a semi-structured interview. Results: The data of experiences during pregnancy of Mrs. A comprised 20 codes, 5 categories, and 11 subcategories. The 5 categories were [abnormalities in the delicate body], [difficulty in blood glucose control for safe childbirth], [the burden of visiting both obstetrics] and [internal medicine departments], and [hope for safe childbirth]. Conclusion: The categories extracted in this study included terms that suggested negative experiences, such as “abnormality”, “difficulty”, “inconvenience”, and “burden”. Mrs. A might have used these negative terms due to the difficulties in controlling her blood glucose levels.

Value of colonoscopy for prediction of prognosis in patients with ulcerative colitis

Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic inflammatory bowel disorder characterized by exacerbations and remissions. Some UC patients remain refractory to conventional medical treatment while, in others, the effectiveness of drugs is limited by side-effects. Recently, cyclosporine and leukocyte removal therapy have been used for refractory UC patients. To predict the efficacy of these therapies is important for appropriate selection of treatment options and for preparation for colectomy. Endoscopy is the cornerstone for diagnosis and evaluation of UC. Endoscopic parameters in patients with severe or refractory UC may predict a clinical response to therapies, such as cyclosporine or leukocyte removal therapy. As for the patients with quiescent UC, relapse of UC is difficult to predict by routine colonoscopy. Even when routine colonoscopy suggests remission and a normal mucosal appearance, microscopic abnormalities may persist and relapse may occur later. To more accurately identify disease activity and to predict exacerbations in UC patients with clinically inactive disease is important for deciding whether medical treatment should be maintained. Magnifying colonoscopy is useful for the evaluation of disease activity and for predicting relapse in patients with UC.

Neoadjuvant chemotherapy for locally advanced cervical cancer

Neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by surgery （NCS） has not been fully evaluated clinically. Currently, the main regimen of neoadjuvant chemotherapy （NAC） used in NCS includes cisplatin. The antitumor effects of NAC reduce lymph node metastasis and the tumor diameter in patients prior to surgery, and this can reduce the number of high risk patients who require postoperative radiation therapy. Many randomized controlled trials （RCTs） have examined the long-term prognosis of NCS compared to primary surgery, but the utility of NCS remains uncertain. The advent of concurrent chemoradiotherapy （CCRT） has markedly improved the outcome of radiotherapy （RT）, and CCRT is now used as a standard method in many cases of advanced bulky cervical cancer. NCS gives a better treatment outcome than radiation therapy alone, but it is important to verify that NCS gives a similar or better outcome compared to CCRT.

Influences of Diamines on the Morphologies and the Chemical, Thermal, and Mechanical Properties of Polyurethane-Imide Elastomers

Polyurethane-imide elastomers (PUIEs) are formed from isocyanate, polyol, acid anhydride, and diamine by liquid polymerization. Unfortunately, many of the diamines have rarely been applied to the formation of PUIEs. Hence, investigating the effect of diamines on PUIEs remains a challenge in polymer chemistry. Herein, PUIEs prepared from 4,4'-diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI), polytetramethylene glycol (Mw: 1000), pyromellitic dianhydride, and aromatic diamines (such as p-phenylene diamine, 4,4'-oxydianiline, and 1,3-bis(4-aminophenoxy)benzene), and aliphatic diamines (such as 1,2-ethylene diamine, 1,6-hexamethylene diamine, and 1,12-dodecamethylene diamine) were synthesized by liquid polymerization. The morphologies and the chemical, thermal, and mechanical properties of the various PUIEs were investigated. Predictive Factors for Smartphone Dependence: Relationship to Demographic Characteristics, Chronotype, and Depressive State of University Students

We investigated factors contributing to smartphone dependence. To 196 medical university students, we administered a set of self-reporting questionnaires designed to evaluate demographic characteristics, smartphone dependence, chronotype, and depressive state. Smartphone dependence was evaluated using the Wakayama Smartphone-Dependence Scale (WSDS) with 3 subscales: Subscale 1, immersion in Internet communication;Subscale 2, using a smartphone for extended periods of time and neglecting social obligations and other tasks;Subscale 3, using a smartphone while doing something else and neglect of etiquette. Multiple regression analyses revealed that living in a family, eveningness, and presence of depression were associated with Subscale 1, that living in a family and eveningness were also associated with Subscale 2, and that being a man was associated with Subscale 3. These findings suggest that smartphone dependence can be predicted by factors such as gender, mode of residence, chronotype, or depressive state.

Third-look endoscopy prevents delayed bleeding after endoscopic submucosal dissection under antithrombotic therapy

BACKGROUND Postoperative delayed bleeding(PDB) after gastric endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD) is the most common adverse event in patients receiving antithrombotics even with second-look endoscopy. Moreover, with the increasing prevalence of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases in an aging population with associated lifestyle-related diseases, an increasing number of patients receive antithrombotics. Several attempts have been made to prevent PDB in aging population;however, a consensus has yet to be *** To examine the efficacy of third-look endoscopy(TLE) for PDB *** One hundred patients with early gastric neoplasms receiving antithrombotics were prospectively enrolled and subjected to ESD with TLE between February 2017 and July 2019. The primary endpoint was PDB rate, which was compared with our preset threshold. Furthermore, we divided the bleeding period into early-and late-onset PDB(E-PDB and L-PDB, respectively) and analyzed its rate. As a secondary analysis, we compared PDB rates with those of a historical control group, using propensity score matching, and calculated the PDB rates per antithrombotic agent use in each *** In total, 96 patients and 114 specimens were finally evaluated. The overall PDB rate was 7.9%(9/114) [90%CI: 4.7-13.1, P = 0.005], while the late-and early-onset PDB rates(L-PDB and E-PDB) were 5.3% [90%CI: 2.7-9.9, P < 0.0001] and 2.6% [90%CI: 1.1-6.4, P = 0.51], respectively. Propensity score matching generated 58 matched pairs for TLE and control groups. No differences were found in overall PDB incidence(10.3% vs 20.7%, P = 0.12), whereas L-PDB occurrence significantly differed(5.2% vs 17.2%, P = 0.04) between groups. Considering antithrombotics' use, the overall PDB rate was higher for direct oral anticoagulants and multiple antithrombotics in the control group, while L-PDB incidence was lower in the TLE group for these agents(8.7% vs 23.1% and 5.0% vs 29.4%, respectively).CONCLUSION TLE for g
