Goji berry is a famous edible and medicinal substance around the world. In this research， 15 phenylpropionyl phenylethylamine derivatives (1-15)， including one new compound (1)， were separated and identified from goji berry. All isolates were elucidated via extensive NMR spectral analyses and chemical techniques. Six known isolates were first obtained from Lycium genus. Six isolates were effectively split into double chromatographic peaks accompanied by the basically identical areas， indicating they belong to racemates. The OraC experiment indicated that all isolates displayed a capacity of scavenging free radicals， and most of them exhibited higher OraC values than EGCG. In ethanol/palmitic acid (PA)-established in vitro hepatocyte injury model， four phenylpropionyl phenylethylamine derivatives (1， 2， 9， and 15) significantly alleviated hepatocyte injury， among which compound 1 exerted the strongest protective activity. Notably， the hepatoprotective effect of compound 1 was further confirmed in ethanol-established liver damage mouse model， reflected by the reduction of lipid accumulation and the attenuation of pathological alteration. Combined with the in vitro results， the in vivo observations suggested that compound 1 suppressed cell apoptosis and the outburst of inflammation. Our findings provided first-hand evidence proving that goji berry-derived phenylpropionyl phenylethylamine derivatives hold a potential in treating alcoholic liver disease.

In Egypt,Sofosbuvir(SOF)in combination with Dataclasvir(DCV)is the broadly used DAAs with excellent therapeutic *** study is designed to explore the relation between IL28B/TLR4 genetic variants and each of the followings;HCC development post SOF/DCV treatment,progression to HCC in naı¨ve patients and SOF/DCV therapy outcome.A total of 493 blood samples were collected(controls(n = 70);HCV patients treated with SOF/DCV(n = 252)of whom 65 patients developed HCC,187 patients didn’t develop HCC(125 responders,62 relapsers);naı¨ve HCV patients(n = 171)had early(n = 48),late liver fibrosis(n = 21)and HCC(n = 102)).Both SNPs were genotyped using a TaqMan 50 allelic discrimination *** IL28B rs12979860 SNP,the C allele was significantly correlating with the response rate more than T allele(OR 1.9,95%CI 1.29e2.9,p=0.004),while at TLR4 rs4986791 SNP,no association was found(OR 6.5,95%0.57e75.28,p = 0.09).Both SNPs couldn’t detect the probability for HCC emergence after *** naı¨ve patients,the protective alleles were detected in their lowest frequency in HCC patients(p = 0.1,for rs12979860 and,p = 0.001 for rs4986791).SOF/DCV combination improved SVR rates in HCV genotype 4a infected patients regardless of IL28B genotype,with the best rates in those lacking the T allele.

The Gabal Marwa area is located in the southeastern part of Sinai,*** comprises gneisses and migmatites,granodiorites and ***,petrographic,mineralogic and chemical investigations indicated that the Gabal Marwa granites are classified as granodiorites and *** monzogranites constitute the most predominant rock unit exposed in the study *** have been subjected to hydrothermal alterations,especially along the shear ***,desilicification,nametasomatism and development of spotty or dendritic manganese oxides are the most pronounced alteration *** alterations resulted in the increase of TiO2,Al2O3,FeOt,MnO,CaO,MgO,Na2O,K2O and Cr,Zr,Rb,Y and Sr and the decrease of SiO2,P2O5,Ni,Zn,Ba and *** studies indicated that the altered granites belong to high thorium,high uranium *** U,Th,U and Th,Th/U,Th and U-K variation diagrams suggested that magmatic processes controlled the distribution of these elements but the effect of hydrothermal alteration processes were clearly *** Scanning Electron Microscope and X-ray Diffraction analyses indicated that the most important radioactive minerals include uranothorite,thorite,zircon,monazite and *** and Mn minerals were also *** the U,Th,ra and K activity concentrations obtained for all the studied granitic samples,radium equivalent activity(raeq),external hazard index(Hex),and internal hazard index(Hin),were calculated to assess the radiation hazard to human beings living in dwellings made of the studied *** monzogranites have radioactivity above the proposed acceptable level and,therefore,caution must be taken when these granites are used as building materials.

Prevalence of occult hepatitis C in egyptian patients with non alcoholic fatty liver disease

This study aim is to assess the prevalence of occult HCV infection among Egyptian patients with non alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) with elevated AST and ALT, and to correlate presence of occult HCV with severity of liver disease. Patients and Methods: After informed consent 27 patients with elevateed liver enzymes diagnosed as NAFLD were examined for demographic, clinical, laboratory data and Ultrasonography. Liver biopsy was done and tested for HCV RNA in tissue. Genotyping using RFLP analysis of PCR products in the 5’NCR was done for positive cases. Results: HCV RNA in tissue was positive in 11/27 patients (40.7%);genotype was 4a in all positive cases. AST and ALT values showed significantly lower values in occult HCV than the non HCV NAFLD group. Liver biopsy of studied patients showed no significant difference as regard inflammation and fibrosis according to METAVIR score. Conclusions: Occult HCV is highly prevalent among Egyptian NAFLD patients. It seems to induce a mild liver disease. Patients with elevated ALT and negative HCV RNA in sera might be investigated for tissue HCV RNA. Follow up is recommended for the occult HCV patients to monitor progression to overt disease.

The rising claim for more environmental friendly and healthy agriculture is a strong incentive to find alternative strategies to replace the use of mineral fertilizer and pesticide. Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF), a main component of soil microbiota, represent a promising tool as providers of key ecological services. The present work represented one of the first attempts to study, under a morphological and molecular point of view, the AMF communities associated to some strategic crops in Vietnam. The findings about the AMF morphotypes dominant in different crop systems could be a starting point for the development of well performing and adapted inocula suitable for the application in field.
