A simple, precise, rapid and low-cost potentiometric method for pethidine determination in pharmaceuticals and urine is proposed. A chemically modified carbon paste electrode (CMCPE) for pethidine hydrochloride (PDCl) based on pethidine-phosphotungstate (PD-PT) as ion-pair complex was prepared and fully character-ized in terms of composition, usable pH range, response time and temperature. The pethidine electrode showed Nernstain responses in the concentration range 2.1 × 10–6-1.0 × 10–2 M with a detection limit of 7.3 × 10-7 and usable within the pH range 3.5-6.6. This sensor exhibited a fast response time (about 5-8 s), good stability. The value (dE/dt) of the electrode was found to be 0.00071 V/?C, which indicates fairly high ther-mal stability. Selectivity coefficients determined by matched potential method (MPM) and separate solution method (SSM) showed high selectivity for PDCl with respect to a large number of inorganic cations, organic cations, sugars and some common drug excipients. The sensor could be used successfully in the estimation of PDCl in ampoules and in spiked urine samples.

The purpose of this study was to examine whether interactive video game(IVG)training is an effective way to improve postural control outcomes and decrease the risk of falls.A convenience sample of 12 prefrail older adults were recruited and divided into two groups:intervention group performed IVG training for 40 minutes,twice per week,for a total of 16 *** control group received no intervention and continued their usual *** measures were centre of pressure(COP),mean velocity,sway area,and sway *** outcomes were Berg Balance Scale,Timed Up and Go(TUG),Falls Efficacy Scale International(FES-I),and Activities-Specific Balance Confidence(ABC).Assessment was conducted with preintervention(week zero)and postintervention(week eight).The intervention group showed significant improvement in mean velocity,sway area,Berg Balance Scale,and TUG(p<0:01)compared to the control ***,no significant improvement was observed for sway path(p=0:35),FES-I(p=0:383),and ABC(p=0:283).This study showed that IVG training led to significant improvements in postural control but not for risk of falls.

Electronic banking has provision networks that replaces and replicated various activities currently executing by the bank. Hence e-banking now plays a vital role to carry out the individual as well as corporate financial activities execution. Even e-banking activities based on the internet or virtual private networks own by the bank, therefore communication channel, distribution channel and transactions channel must be secure. The research article explores the current trends in the e-banking uprising that has set a goal in the Pakistani banking sector to provide any easy interface to their customers which avail the e-banking services without any physical presence in the bank vicinity. This empirical study was carried out in Pakistan which indicating the current issues encounter by the e-banking application in various banking industries. The analysis in this paper further reveals that approachability of internet in banking sector makes customer reluctant to access their bank accounts electronically. The usage of e-banking significantly affects the customer trust due to unavailability of cyber security.

Background: Lumbar burst fractures are common spinal injuries that cause severe instability with kyphotic deformities and neurological complications requiring surgical decompression and reconstruction with spinal instrumentation for unstable burst fracture, but there is controversy about the optimal surgical approach anterior, posterior or combined approach. Objectives: To assess the efficacy & safety of anterolateral approach in decompression and reconstruction with spinal instrumentation for lumbar burst fractures. Subjects & Methods: A retrospective study including 16 patients, 10 males and 6 females with lumbar burst fractures and anterior compression treated operatively by anterolateral approach for corpectomy and single level fusion by using expandable cage or mesh cage loaded with bone graft and plat with screws. The clinical and radiological follow up after discharge from the hospital ranged from 12 to 24 months. Results: All patients improved regarding the Frankel score more than one grade after surgery, except 2 cases of grade A didn’t improve. Mean preoperative visual analogue scale was 7.4 improving to 0.9 postoperatively. The mean Local kyphosis improved from 8.8° before surgery to -1° after surgery. Conclusions: Anterolateral approach is feasible, effective, and safe approach for unstable lumbar burst fractures. Angular deformity is successfully corrected when the anterior approach is used.

The electrical conductivity of pure CaTiO3 and that containing 0.5~5.0 mole fraction CuO as dopant were measured in the temperature range 291~773 K. The conductivity values varied as a function of temperature and dopant concentration. The activation energy in the lower temper- ature range depended on the impurity content while in the high temperature range it indicated a value of energy gap width. The infrared absorption spectra in the range of 100~4000 cm-1 revealed the presence of two main bands at 340 and 570 cm-1 which were assigned to Ti06 oc- tahedral normal mode. Bands in the range of 106~270 cm-1 were due to the vibration of anion TiO3-2. Some bands were observed at higher values due to the presence of lattice imperfections. There was a slight shift in band position with increasing dopant concentration which favors the formation of orthorhombic modification.

Enforcement of trafc rules and regulations involves a wide range of complex tasks,many of which demand the use of modern *** speed limits(VSL)control is to change the current speed limit according to the current trafc situation based on the observed trafc *** aim of this study is to provide a simulation-based methodological framework to evaluate(VSL)as an effective Intelligent Transportation System(ITS)enforcement *** focus of the study is on measuring the effectiveness of the dynamic trafc control strategy on trafc performance and safety considering various performance indicators such as total travel time,average delay,and average number of *** Arab Emirates(UAE)was selected as a case study to evaluate the effectiveness of this strategy.A micro simulation software package VISSIM with add-on module VisVAP is used to evaluate the impacts of *** has been observed that VSL control strategy reduced the average delay time per vehicle to around 7%,travel time by 3.2%,and number of stops by 48.5%.Dynamic trafc control strategies also alleviated congestion by increasing the capacity of the bottleneck section and improving *** of this study would act as a guidance for engineers and decision makers to new trafc control system implementation.
