AIM: To determine human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-DQB1 allele association with susceptibility to type 1 diabetes (T1D) and to clinical and laboratory findings. METHODS: This study was conducted on 85 unrelated Egyptian children with T1D recruited consecutively from the Pediatric Diabetes Endocrinology outpatients Clinic; Mansoura University Children’s Hospital, Egypt. Patient mean follow up period was 2.5 years. Patients were subdivided according to level of HbA1c (optimal/suboptimal control elated age- and sex-matched healthy subjects without T1D or other autoimmune diseases. Genomic DNA extraction was done for all subjects using a DNA isolation kit. HLA-Class II-DQB1 allele typing was carried out with a polymerase chain reaction-sequence-specific oligonucleotide probe using a INNO-LiPA HLA-DQB1 update kit. RESULTS: Significant differences were detected between Egyptian patients with T1D and control groups in the frequencies of DQB1*02 [44.4% vs 18.6%, corrected P value (Pc) ely associated with T1D (Pc = 0.014, Pc ely), while HLA-DQB1*060101 was negatively associated (Pc eles 030101 and 050101 were significantly higher in controls (P = 0.016, P = 0.025 respectively), both of them lost statistical significance after correction of P value. The frequency of the HLA-DQB1 genotypes 02/02, 02/03, and 03/03 was higher in T1D patients, and the frequency of the genotypes 03/06, 05/06, and 06/06 was higher in controls,

Soy yogurt has gained significant popularity due to its nutritional health benefits. The objectives of this study were to develop flavored yogurt from soybean milk with reduced soy aftertaste by the addition of 30% （wt/wt） strawberry or orange jam in conjunction with a lactic acid fermentation. Soy milk-based yogurt products were assessed for microbial quality and for acceptability by a panel of Jordanian and Malaysian consumers. Sixty-one individuals, of whom 75.4% （n = 46） were Jordanian and 24.6% （n = 15） were Malaysian, evaluated the plain and flavored soy milk-based yogurt. The overall acceptability of orange and strawberry soy yogurt was rated significantly higher than plain soy yogurt. In general, the orange and strawberry soy yogurt received higher sensory ratings from Malaysian than Jordanian consumers. In addition, formulations with orange jam received higher scores than those flavored with strawberry. Shelf life tests showed that soy yogurt was acceptable for at least 8 d without perceptible spoilage. Therefore, the approach used yielded flavored products with better acceptability and improved sensory attributes, including decreased intensity of off flavor, with suitable shelf life at 4 ℃.

Abstract： This paper describes the development and characterization of a two-temperature （2-T）, constant pressure humidity generator It relies on the saturation of a stream of gas flowing over a water surface maintained at constant, well-known, temperature. It was built in order to improve the uncertainties of the dew-point temperature and humidity scales realization at the National Institute for Standard （NIS） in the dew-point range from -50 ℃ to ＋ 10 ℃. Several experiments were carried out in the above mentioned range in order to characterize the generator. Characterization comprised studies of its saturator efficiency, temperature stability and a comparison with a calibrated chilled-mirror hygrometer. The results of the efficiency tests showed good performance of the generator as described below. For uncertainty of measurements, a thorough analysis was also described representing estimations of contributions for all the sources that affecting measurements.

刘郁《西使记》中记录常德过阿母河的一段行程,涉及"里丑、马兰、纳商、殢扫儿"四个地名,历来为学术界讨论的焦点。1887年布莱特施耐德将《西使记》译为英文,并作了详细的注释,对于上述四个地点,他认为考证困难。20世纪90年代,张广达、王小甫合撰有《刘郁〈西使记〉不明地理考》,对此进行了专题研究,提出常德所走路线为:湛木、马鲁察谷地、也里、你沙不儿一线,并在此路线上对上述四个地点进行了考证。本文根据穆斯林文献,结合13世纪呼罗珊的实际交通情况,提出常德所走的路线为:阿模里、马鲁、你沙不儿一线,即被称为"呼罗珊大道"的干路,常德所提及的四个地名均能在此路线上得到比对。

Introduction: Cervical cancer is preventable through vaccination against papillomaviruses and screening for precancerous lesions. The objective of this study was to determine the frequency of screening practice and to identify associated factors. Methods: This was a cross-sectional descriptive and analytical study. Data were collected from individual interviews during household surveys. Data collection took place from (1st) to (30th) September (2021). The following were explored: socio-demographic characteristics, knowledge, attitudes and practices of women regarding screening. Results: A total of (294) women aged between (18) and (69) years were included. The mean age was (35.79) years (±9.81). The median age was (34) years. The frequency of screening was (16%);that of precancerous lesions was (4.26%). Factors statistically and significantly associated with screening uptake were cervical cancer information (OR = 5.42 (1.27 - 23.16);p = 0.003), knowledge of the availability of screening (ORa = 7.73 (3.01 - 18.51);p - 7.31);p = 0.014). Conclusion: Frequency of pre-cancerous lesions of cervical cancer is high in Koumpentoum health district (4.26%), while the practice of screening is low there (16%). The factors associated with this low performance are related to a lack of adequate knowledge of women about cervical cancer.

Organotin Compounds in Sediments of Northern Lakes, Egypt

This pioneered study is aimed to determine the levels and distributions of organotin compounds (OTCs) in sediment samples collected from five Egyptian lakes located in the southern-eastern Mediterranean Sea. The paper has given an account of and the reasons for the widespread distribution of Tributyltin (TBT) in northern lakes. The percentage of TBT ranged from 4% - 100% OTC revealing recent inputs of TBT. The highest average of TBT (2.84 μg/g Sn dry wt) was measured in lake Edku. Dibutyltin (DBT) was observed at most sampled sites. Relatively higher abundance of DBT was observed in sediments of el-Burullus (0.69 μg/g Sn dry wt). One of most significant findings to emerge from this study is the absence of any strong and significant correlation between TBT and DBT in sediments from five northern lakes. The absence of such correlation might give a clear evidence that both compounds did not come from the same source. The observed OTC levels indicate some highly localized areas of contamination which are severe enough to cause harmful effects on marine flora and fauna. Except for el-Burllus, Triphenyltin (TPhT) was not measured in sediments of most stations. TPhT was the predominant species in el-Burullus, which indicate a source of pollution mostly originated from industrial and agricultural waste water discharge, organic wastes, commercial fertilizers, chemical wastes and pesticides. The percentages of OTC to total tin ranged from 1% to 35%. el-Brullus, Edku and el-Bardaweel exhibited the highest percentages. As a result of lack of enforcement on the control of OTC, the study has thrown up many questions need further detailed environmental assessment of OTC.

The eco-responsible lead-free piezoelectric ceramics have been intensively searched for more than adecade, however, the final goal to replace toxic ceramics like lead zirconate titanate (PZT) with lead-freecompounds, having comparable or even better performance has not yet been reached. In this road, thelead-free ceramics Ba_(0.85)Ca_(0.15)Zr_(0.1)Ti_(0.9)O_(3) (BCZT), possessing excellent dielectric, ferroelectric, andpiezoelectric properties are regarded as serious candidates for the PZT replacement. Besides, nano-structuring BCZT is of paramount importance to enhance these functionalities even more. Here, BCZTmultipodes are designed by template-growth hydrothermal synthesis using hydrogen zirconate titanatenanowires. We demonstrate that the fabricated BCZT multipodes exhibit high dielectric permittivity of5300 with a temperature stability coefficient of ±5.9% between 20 and 140℃. A significant recoveredenergy density of 315.0 mJ/cm^(3) with high thermal stability and high energy storage efficiency of 87.4%,and enhanced large-signal piezoelectric coefficient d^(*)_(33) (310 pm/V) are found. Compared to the tradi-tional BCZT ceramics reported in the literature, relying on high-temperature processing, our sampleexhibits boosted energy storage parameters at a much lower temperature. These outcomes may offer anew strategy to tailor eco-responsible relaxor ferroelectrics toward superior energy storage performancefor ceramic capacitor applications.
