Assessing effects of deficit irrigation techniques on water productivity of tomato for subsurface drip irrigation system

Water resources are subjected to ever-increasing supply constraints due to extensive agricultural water demand for irrigated ***,water-saving irrigation strategies need to be *** present study was conducted to explore the possibilities of using regulated deficit irrigation(RDI)and partial root zone drying irrigation(PRD)methods as water-saving irrigation techniques for subsurface *** objective of this study are to assess the effects of RDI and PRD irrigation on the water productivity of vegetable crops(tomato)under ssD systems in arid climatic conditions,and to compare the responses of tomato crops to PRD,RDI,and FI under an ssD system in terms of productivity,crop quality,and the amount of water *** field experiment was conducted during the fall 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 seasons in an experimental field located on an educational farm owned by the Faculty of Food and Agriculture sciences Department,King saud University,Riyadh,Kingdom of saudi *** area of 102.7 m^(2)(13 m×7.9 m)was allocated for the experiment to manage three treatments:RDI,PRD,and full irrigation(FI).The RDI and PRD treatments received 70%of the irrigation water volume of *** was replicated three *** most important results indicated that the soil water content(sWC)for the RDI and PRD treatments was lower than that of the FI *** had the highest stomatal conductance values(gs),while PRD had the lowest stomatal conductance *** photosynthetic rate(A_(n))was lower under RDI and PRD compared to ***,there was no significant change in A_(n) between treatments for most readings taken during both time periods,which means that the water saving treatments(PRD and RDI)did not affect the net photosynthesis rate,thereby enhancing irrigation water use efficiency(IWUE)under DI *** water-saving irrigation techniques decreased transpiration rate(T)compared to the FI *** values of the abscisic acid(ABA)contents were higher

Machine learning for predicting the outcome of terminal ballistics events

Machine learning(ML) is well suited for the prediction of high-complexity,high-dimensional problems such as those encountered in terminal *** evaluate the performance of four popular ML-based regression models,extreme gradient boosting(XGBoost),artificial neural network(ANN),support vector regression(sVR),and Gaussian process regression(GP),on two common terminal ballistics’ problems:(a)predicting the V50ballistic limit of monolithic metallic armour impacted by small and medium calibre projectiles and fragments,and(b) predicting the depth to which a projectile will penetrate a target of semi-infinite *** achieve this we utilise two datasets,each consisting of approximately 1000samples,collated from public release *** demonstrate that all four model types provide similarly excellent agreement when interpolating within the training data and diverge when extrapolating outside this *** extrapolation is not advisable for ML-based regression models,for applications such as lethality/survivability analysis,such capability is *** circumvent this,we implement expert knowledge and physics-based models via enforced monotonicity,as a Gaussian prior mean,and through a modified loss *** physics-informed models demonstrate improved performance over both classical physics-based models and the basic ML regression models,providing an ability to accurately fit experimental data when it is available and then revert to the physics-based model when *** resulting models demonstrate high levels of predictive accuracy over a very wide range of projectile types,target materials and thicknesses,and impact conditions significantly more diverse than that achievable from any existing analytical *** with numerical analysis tools such as finite element solvers the ML models run orders of magnitude *** provide some general guidelines throughout for the development,application,and reporting of ML models in terminal ballist

Liver transplantation(LT)provides a life-saving option for cirrhotic patients with complications and hepatocellular *** the increasing number of liver transplants performed each year,the number of LT candidates on the waitlist remains unchanged due to an imbalance between donor organ supply and the demand which increases the waitlist time and *** donor liver transplant had a great role in increasing the donor pool and shortened waitlist time for LT ***,further strategies can be implemented to increase the pool of potential donors in deceased donor LT,such as reducing the rate of organ *** hepatitis C virus(HCV)seropositive liver grafts is one of the expanded donor organ criteria.A yearly increase of hundreds of transplants is anticipated as a result of maximizing the utilization of HCV-positive organs for HCV-negative ***-acting antiviral therapy's efficacy has revolutionized the treatment of HCV infection and the use of HCV-seropositive donors in *** American society of Transplantation advises against performing transplants from HCV-infected liver donors(D+)into HCV-negative recipient(R-)unless under Institutional Review Board-approved study rules and with full informed consent of the knowledge gaps associated with such *** selection of patients to be transplanted with HCV-infected grafts and confirming their access to direct-acting antivirals if needed is *** and international consensuses are needed to regulate this process to ensure the maximum benefit and the least adverse events.

AIM:To review recent innovations,challenges,and applications of small incision lenticule extraction(sMILE)extracted lenticule for treating ocular ***:A literature review was performed in the PubMed database,which was last updated on 30 December *** was no limit regarding *** authors evaluated the reference lists of the collected papers to find any relevant ***:Due to the simplicity and accuracy of modern femtosecond lasers and the extensive development of sMILE surgery,many healthy human corneal stromal lenticules were extracted during surgery,motivating some professionals to investigate the sMILE lenticule reusability in different ocular *** addition,new approaches had been developed to preserve,modify,and bioengineer the corneal stroma,leading to the optimal use of discarded byproducts such as lenticules from sMILE *** lenticules can be effectively re-implanted into the autologous or allogenic corneas of human subjects to treat refractive errors,corneal ectasia,and corneal perforation and serve as a patch graft for glaucoma drainage devices with better cosmetic ***:sMILE-extracted lenticules could be a viable alternative to human donor corneal tissue.

Memory loss and dementia are major public health concerns with a substantial economic *** stress has been shown to play a crucial role in the pathophysiology of hippocampal damage-induced memory *** investigate whether the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compound vanillyla cetone(zingerone) can protect against hippocampal damage and memory loss induced by cadmium chloride(CdCl_(2)) administration in rats,we explo red the potential involvement of the nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2(Nrf2) signaling pathway,which is known to modulate oxidative stress and *** healt hy male Wistar rats were divided into five groups:vehicle-treated(control),vanillylacetone,CdCl_(2),vanillylacetone+ CdCl_(2),vanillylacetone+ CdCl_(2)+ brusatol(a selective pharmacological N rf2inhibitor) *** effectively attenuated CdCl_(2)-induced damage in the dental gyrus of the hippocampus and improved the memory function assessed by the Morris Water Maze ***,vanillylacetone markedly decreased the hippocampal tissue levels of inflammatory biomarkers(interleukin-6,tumor necrosis factor-α,intracellular cell adhesive molecules) and apoptosis biomarkers(Bax and cleaved caspase-3).The control and CdCl_(2)-treated groups treated with va nillylacetone showed reduced generation of reactive oxygen species,decreased malondialdehyde levels,and increased superoxide dismutase and glutathione activities,along with significant elevation of nuclear Nrf2 mRNA and protein expression in hippocampal *** the protective effects of vanillylacetone we re substantially blocked by the co-administration of brusatol(a selective N rf2 inhibitor).Va nillylacetone mitigated hippocampal damage and memory loss induced by CdCl_(2),at least in part, by activating the nuclear transcription factor ***,vanillylacetone exerted its potent antioxidant and antiinflammatory actions.

The impact of foot reflexology on fatigue and sleep quality in school-aged children undergoing hemodialysis

Wheat(Triticum aestivum L.)exhibits a greater capacity for cadmium(Cd)absorption compared to other cereal crops,leading to elevated daily Cd intake,and posing a signiﬁcant threat to public *** the mitigation of Cd stress in sustainable and environmentally friendly way,a pot study was designed by using exogenous application of various biostimulants,i.e.,Nigella sativa and Ocimum sanctum extracts:0%,10%,and 20%in combination with the chelating agent ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid(EDTA)using 0 and 5 mg kg^(-1) under various levels of Cd stress(i.e.,0,5,10,and 15 mg kg^(-1) soil).Results revealed that Cd stress signiﬁcantly reduced the seed emergence,growth,root,and allometric characters and yield-related parameters of wheat *** most observable reduc-tion was documented in wheat plants exposed to a higher Cd concentration(15 mg kg^(-1)),followed by the lower Cd level(control).The combined application of bio-stimulants and EDTA minimized the negative impacts of Cd *** highest increase in seedling emergence(5.44%),leaf area(50.60%),number of tillers(31.02%),grain yield per plant(24.28%),biological yield(13.97%),and decrease in Cd levels in grains(40%)was noticed where 20%foliar application of *** and 10%of *** biostimulants were done using 5 mg kg^(-1) of soil-applied *** intervention demonstrated a notable reduction in Cd-induced negative effects,highlighting the potential of these substances in promoting sustainable wheat cultivation in contaminated ***,it is an eco-friendly and approachable method at theﬁeld level able to ensure food safety.

Constraints on the nuclear symmetry energy and its density slope from theαdecay process

We study the impact of the nuclear symmetry energy and its density dependence on the α-decay *** the framework of the preformed cluster model and the energy density formalism, we use different parameterizations of the skyrme energy density functionals that yield different equations of state（EOs）. Each EOs is characterized by a particular symmetryenergy coefficient（asym） and a corresponding density-slope parameter L. The stepwise trends of the neutron（proton） skin thickness of the involved nuclei with both asym and L do not clarify the oscillating behaviors of the α-decay half-life Tα with these quantities. We find that the change of the skin thickness after α-decay satisfactorily explains these behaviors. The presented results provide constraints on asym centered around an optimum value asym = 32 MeV, and on L between 41 and 57 MeV. These values of asym and L, which indicate larger reduction of the proton-skin thickness and less increase in the neutron-skin thickness after an α-decay,yield a minimum calculated half-life with the same extracted value of the α-preformation factor inside the parent nucleus.

spatial correlation of pit and mound topography with canopy gaps in a virgin mixed beech forest, northern Iran

In a reserved forest parcel in a virgin eastern Hyrcanian mixed beech forest,80 ha was surveyed to determine the pit and mound topography,canopy gaps and dead *** aim was to investigate the spatial patterns and correlation of pit and mound features with canopy ***-five canopy gaps and 61 pit and mound features were *** univariate first order nearest neighbor(R_(CE))and bivariate second order test(Ripley’s K)statistic were applied.R_(CE) statistics highlighted a general aggregation pattern for canopy gaps and pits and mounds,while pits and mounds alone were more *** between canopy gaps were 130 m average,whereas distances between pit and mound features and dead trees were 60 and 78 m,*** positive correlation of canopy gaps with pits and mounds were observed with all *** result of spatial correlations between canopy gaps with pits and mounds confirmed that windthrows cause micro successions in fallen tree ecosystem-scale correlated with gap phase dynamics in the forest community-scale.
