AIM To evaluate the clinicopathological features and the surgical outcomes of patients with fibrolamellar hepato-cellular carcinoma(FL-HCC)over a 15-year period. METHODS This is a retrospective study including 22 patients with a pathologic diagnosis of FL-HCC who underwent hepatectomy over a 15-year period. Tumor characteristics,survival and recurrence were evaluated. RESULTS There were 11 male and 11 female with a median age of 29 years(range from 21 to 58 years). Two(9%)patients had hepatitis C viral infection and only 2(9%)patients had alpha-fetoprotein level > 200 ng/m L. The median size of the tumors was 12 cm(range from 5-20 cm). Vascular invasion was detected in 5(23%)patients. Four(18%)patients had lymph node metastases. The median follow up period was 42 mo and the 5-year survival was 65%. Five(23%)patients had a recurrent disease,4 of them had a second surgery with 36 mo median time interval. Vascular invasion is the only significant negative prognostic factor CONCLUSION FL-HCC has a favorable prognosis than common HCC and should be suspected in young patients with non cirrhotic liver. Aggressive surgical resection should be done for all patients. Repeated hepatectomy should be considered for these patients as it has a relatively indolent course.

Nowadays kaolin raw material is usually used to produce nano-kaolin for geopolymer enhancement by using firing *** the present study,kaolin used was taken from the Naqus Formation(Cambro-Ordovician age),west of Gabal el Gunna,Sinai,***-kaolin material is an ultrafine material and was prepared from the taken kaolin by the firing process at 800 for 2℃h with a heating rate of 5/*** mixes were prepared and their laboratory specimens were made℃and cured up to 90 *** cooled slag was used as starting material,and sodium hydroxide and sodium silicate were used in the study as activators for the used *** formed geopolymer mixes with different ratios(1%,1.5%,3%,5%,and 7%)of nano-kaolin as a partial replacement for the raw kaolin were *** Ace super plasticizer was added in the ratio of 4%from the dry weight to ensure good dispersing of the used nano *** showed that increasing the percentage of nano-kaolin up to 3%results in an enhancement in the mechanical properties as compared with the control mix up to 90 days of curing,while higher ratios are not preferable where they lead to agglomeration of the added nano materials and matrix dilution.

Objective:To investigate the role of zinc in reducing the deleterious effects of cadmium on male ***:Rats were injected subcutaneously with CdCl_2 and ZnCl_2 at dose level of2.2 mg/kg(1/40 of LD50 of cadmium per day).Results:The rats treated with cadmium exhibited a significant increase in levels of testicular malondialdehyde,tumor necrosis factor-alpha,nitrogen oxide and inducible nitrogen oxide synthase immunostaining reaction,as well as an elevation of blood hydroperoxide and follicle stimulating *** addition,a significant decrease in testicular ascorbic acid,zinc,reduced glutathione,catalase,superoxide dismutase,sex organ weight,plasma testosterone and luteinizing hormone were observed in the cadmium *** motility and count were decreased with cadmium treatment,while sperm abnormalities elevated *** treatment was found to mitigate the toxic effects of cadmium on oxidative stress,spermatogenesis,sex hormones,and inflammatory *** injected with cadmium showed intense histopathological *** manifested protective role and markedly reduced tissues damage induced by ***:The protective effect of zinc can be attributed to its antioxidant and antiinflammatory properties.

Objective:Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is the fifth most common malignancy *** identification of new simple,inexpensive and highly accurate markers for HCC diagnosis and screening is *** case-control study evaluates the role of annexin A2 and voltage-gated calcium channelsα2δ1 subunit as serum biomarkers for HCC ***:The study comprised three groups:group 1,50 patients with an initial diagnosis of HCC associated with chronic hepatitis C virus infection;group 2,25 patients diagnosed with chronic hepatitis C virus infection and cirrhosis without any evidence of HCC;and group 3,15 healthy *** participants were subjected to clinical and laboratory investigations,and radiological *** serum levels of alpha-fetoprotein(AFP),annexin A2,and theα2δ1 subunit were evaluated by using elISA ***:The serum levels of annexin A2 significantly increased in patients with HCC(10.4±2.5 ng/m L;Pels in patients with HCC comparing to those with ***α2δ1 subunit significantly increased in patients with HCC(20.12±3.7 ng/m L)comparing to that in patients with cirrhosis(10.41±3.4 ng/m L,P<0.001)and healthy controls(10.2±2.9 ng/m L,P<0.001).Conclusions:The serumα2δ1 subunit may function as a new biomarker for HCC ***,serum annexin A2 has low diagnostic value as an HCC marker,especially in patients with underlying cirrhosis.

Purpose This work uses the data which represent the measurements of the gamma radiation levels in ambient air from many gamma monitoring stations that are distributed in many sites to classify the regions which cover these sites according to these *** The processes of the classification are:dividing the range of measurements to several intervals,making interpolation for all regions that cover all gammamonitoring stations,representing the interpolation information in the map using geographic information systems technology and finally classifying all the sites on this map according to the determined intervals by using data mining techniques via interpolation *** and Importance This method is implemented for determining the background of gamma radiation levels for many sites in *** background is necessary for many environmental researches because it is useful for making risk assessment evaluation for any site in *** The output result from this implementation shows that most sites in Egypt have been classified within three intervals:first interval is from 2.02E−2 to4.75E−2μSv/h with 47.11%of Egypt area,second interval is from 4.75E−2 to8.85E−2μSv/h with 40%of Egypt area and third interval is from 8.85E−2 to 1.42E−1μSv/h with 6.82%of Egypt *** This method is more useful than other traditional methods because the results from this method show that this method saves more effort,time and cost than other methods.

Objective:To assess the effects of melatonin and/or cysteamineonin vitro maturation, culturing and post-warming of buffalo ***: Buffalo oocytes were classified into control, cysteamine (50 μM), melatonin (10 ng/mL) and cysteamine (50 μM) + melatonin (10 ng/mL) treatment groups. In experiment 1, previous treatments were added duringin vitromaturation and culturing of buffalo ***:Cleavage and blastocyst rates were significantly (Pelatonin treated group (70.5±0.9 and 12.8±1.0, respectively). However this effect was potentiated when combined with cysteamine (74.0±1.7 and 14.8±1.7, respectively). In experiment 2, the treatements were added in maturtaion, culturing as well as post-warming culture media. Embryos at 7 d were *** assessement directly after warming showed significant increase (Pelatonin and their combination groups (76.8±2.8, 80.0±2.1 and 83.3±1.7, respectively) than control (65.8±2.4);but the viability after 24 h post-warming was the best in cysteamine + melatonin combination group (61.4±2.1).Conculsions: Enriching maturation, culturing and post-warming media of buffalo oocytes and embryos with melatonin and/or cysteamine have significantly beneficial effects on oocyte developmental competence as well as embryos vitrification procedure outcomes which in turn resulting in enhancement of commercial buffalo embryo production.

Several benign conditions such as chronic pancreatitis, autoimmune pancreatitis,and paraduodenal pancreatitis can present as mass lesions and may mimicpancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) clinically and radiologically. Thoroughhistologic examination with attention to certain morphologic features can assist indeciphering neoplastic from reactive, however small biopsies often remain achallenge. Variable histologic patterns in conventional PDAC may also confoundthe diagnosis of PDAC. Uncommon subtypes of pancreatic carcinoma such asadenosquamous and squamous cell carcinoma, colloid carcinoma, medullarycarcinoma, hepatoid carcinoma and signet ring cell carcinoma necessitateexcluding metastasis from other sites prior to rendering the diagnosis ofpancreatic carcinoma. The use of immunohistochemical staining and molecularmarkers can aid in separating benign from malignant and PDAC from *** expresses a few non-specific epithelial and mucin immunomarkers such asCK7, CK19, MUC1, MUC4 and MUC5AC. However, the only immunohistochemicalmarker that is specific for PDAC in the right clinical context is *** of SMAD4 within atypical glands and ducts supports the diagnosis of PDACin a limited sample. Unfortunately, this finding is seen only in 50% of PDACcases. The identification of certain mutations can help support a diagnosis ofPDAC when benign conditions are in the differential. At the molecular level,KRAS oncogene mutations are seen in approximately 93% of PDACs. Subsequentneoplastic progression is driven by additional mutations of tumor suppressorgenes, such as CDKN2A, TP53, and SMAD4. Molecular markers can also providean insight to the prognosis. For instance, the loss of SMAD4 is associated with apoor outcome whereas mutations in MLL, MLL2, MLL3, and ARID1A are associatedwith improved survival.

This paper presents a comparative study on the thermal comfort of traditional and contemporary houses in Byblos,*** climate change affecting indoor environments and potentially leading to increased energy consumption,achieving optimal thermal comfort is a crucial issue for building *** study analyzes several environmental parameters and conducts an occupancy survey to assess thermal comfort in both types of *** questionnaire used in the survey consists of 46 questions divided into three parts:“Who are you?”,“The environment of your house?”,and“Architectural characteristics of the house.”The results show that traditional houses perform better than contemporary ones in terms of thermal comfort,due to their use of natural and passive ***,both types of houses have room for improvement in terms of energy *** study provides insights into potential solutions for improving indoor thermal comfort while reducing energy consumption in traditional and contemporary houses.
