Spectral characteristics of banded iron formations in singhbhum craton,eastern India:Implications for hematite deposits on Mars

Banded iron formations （BIFs） are major rock units having hematite layers intermittent with silica rich layers and formed by sedimentary processes during late Archean to mid Proterozoic time. In terrestrial environment, hematite deposits are mainly found associated with banded iron formations. The BIFs in Lake Superior （Canada） and Carajas （Brazil） have been studied by planetary scientists to trace the evolution of hematite deposits on Mars. Hematite deposits are extensively identified in Meridiani region on Mars. Many hypotheses have been proposed to decipher the mechanism for the formation of these deposits. On the basis of geomorphological and mineralogical studies, aqueous environment of deposition is found to be the most supportive mechanism for its secondary iron rich deposits. In the present study, we examined the spectral characteristics of banded iron formations of Joda and Daitari located in singhbhum craton in eastern India to check its potentiality as an analog to the aqueous/marine environment on Mars. The prominent banding feature of banded iron formations is in the range of few millimeters to few centimeters in thickness. Fe rich bands are darker （gray） in color compared to the light reddish jaspilitic chert bands. Thin quartz veins （〈4 mm） are occasionally observed in the handspecimens of banded iron formations. Spectral investigations have been conducted in VIS/NIR region of electromagnetic spectrum in the laboratory conditions. Optimum absorption bands identified include 0.65, 0.86, 1.4 and 1.9 μm, in which 0.56 and 0.86 μm absorption bands are due to ferric iron and 1.4 and 1,9 μm bands are due to OH/H2O. To validate the mineralogical results obtained from VlS/NIR spectral radiometry, laser Raman and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopic techniques were utilized and the results were found to be similar. The topological insulators Bi_(2-x)Fe_(x)Se_(3-x)S_(x) have been investigated by the dc-magnetization,magnetotransport and angle resolved photoemission spectroscopy(ARPES)*** doping of Fe and S,a negative giant magneto-resistance(MR)is observed for parallel electric and magnetic fields(H||E).The MR behavior at lower magnetic field can be explained with the semi-classical theory whereas the MR behavior at higher field has been attributed to the axial ***,the system reached to the quantum limit at low magnetic field(~4.5T).The magnetic ordering can be explained with the presence of both the RKKY(surface)and van-Vleck(bulk)*** ARPES study reveals that a surface gap is suppressed when the magnetic ordering changes from ferromagnetic to anti-ferromagnetic *** ARPES study and the appearance of quantum oscillations(SdH)in the resistivity pattern reveal that the topological surface property is preserved with the co-doping of Fe and S.

Electromagnetic design and performance of conduction cooled superconducting magnet for spoke resonator cryomodule for Proton Improvement Plan(PIP)-II

The Proton Improvement Plan(PIP)-II project is part of Fermilab’s upgrade of its proton accelerator complex,to provide a powerful,high-intensity proton beam to the laboratory’s upcoming research *** project includes an 800 MeV superconducting(SC)linear accelerator(linac),with five flavours of cavities and *** medium energy section of the linac contains two types of superconducting Single Spoke Resonator(SSR)RF cavities(SSR1 and SSR2),which are interleaved with strong solenoid focusing lenses.A unified design of the solenoid has been developed,with one solenoid design satisfying both SSR1 and SSR2 *** integral focusing strength requirement of 4.5 T^(2)m with a full width half maximum(FWHM)of 180 mm indicates the peak field strength∼6.8 T in the magnet aperture,necessitating a superconducting design within the limits of NbTi as magnet wire *** are complex combined units that include one focusing solenoid with bucking coils to minimize fringe fields and four corrector coils each,with independent current leads to produce dipole and quadrupole *** simplify the current lead design and reduce complexity,the project opted conduction cooling for these magnets,thus requiring a redesign compared to previous prototype bath cooled *** designs for high energy accelerators adopt bath cooled design of the solenoid focusing lenses for medium energy *** present design explores a unique and technically superior solution for the cryomodule operation by decoupling the magnet and cavity cooling to certain *** in cryomodule operations shall be studied after integration of magnets in the Linac *** we discuss the design requirements,challenges,electromagnetic design,superconducting wire selection and the results from magnetic measurements of the first pre-series units.

In this study,we measured the^(58)Ni(n,p)^(58)Co reaction cross section with neutron energies of 1.06,1.86,and 2.85 *** cross section was measured using neutron activation techniques andγ-ray spectroscopy,and it was compared with cross section data available in the ***,we calculated the covariance matrix of the measured cross section for the aforementioned nuclear *** uncertainties of the theoretical calculation for^(58)Ni(n,p)^(58)Co reaction cross section were calculated via Monte Carlo *** this study,we used uncertainties in the optical model and level density parameters to calculate uncertainties in the theoretical cross *** theoretical calculations were performed by using *** this study,we aim to analyze the effect of uncertainties of the nuclear model input as well as different experimental variables used to obtain the values of reaction cross section.

The excitation function of the 58Ni(n,p)58Co reaction was measured using the well-established neutron activation technique andγ-ray *** in the energy range of 1.7 to 2.7 MeV were generated using the 7Li(p,n)*** neutron flux was measured using the standard 115In(n,n’)115mIn monitor *** results of the neutron spectrum averaged cross-section of 58Ni(n,p)58Co reactions were compared with existing cross-section data available in the EXFOR data library as well as with various evaluated data libraries such as ENDF/B-VIII.0,JEFF-3.3,JENDL-4.0,and *** calculations were performed using the nuclear reaction code *** nuclear level density(NLD)models were tested,and their results were compared with the present *** NLDs were also obtained through the spectral distribution method(SDM).The cross-section results,along with the absolute errors,were obtained by investigating the uncertainty propagation and using the covariance *** forγ-ray true coincidence summing,low-energy background neutrons,andγ-ray self attenuation were *** experimental cross-section obtained in the present study is consistent with previously published experimental data,evaluated libraries,and theoretical calculations carried out using the TALYS code.

Randomised controlled trial comparing modified Sano's and narrow band imaging international colorectal endoscopic classifications for colorectal lesions

AIM To assess the utility of modified Sano′s(MS) vs thenarrow band imaging international colorectal endoscopic(NICE) classification in differentiating colorectal *** Patients undergoing colonoscopy between 2013 and 2015 were enrolled in this *** on the MS or the NICE classifications,patients were randomised for real-time endoscopic *** was followed by biopsies,endoscopic or surgical *** endoscopic diagnosis was then compared to the final(blinded) *** primary endpoint was the sensitivity(Sn),specificity(Sp),positive predictive value(PPV) and negative predictive value(NPV) of differentiating neoplastic and non-neoplastic polyps(MSⅡ/Ⅱo/Ⅲa/Ⅲb vs I or NICE 1 vs 2/3).The secondary endpoints were "endoscopic resectability"(MSⅡ/Ⅱo/Ⅲa vs Ⅰ/Ⅲb or NICE 2 vs 1/3),NPV for diminutive distal adenomas and prediction of post-polypectomy surveillance *** A total of 348 patients were *** Sn,Sp,PPV and NPV in differentiating neoplastic polyps from non-neoplastic polyps were,98.9%,85.7%,98.2% and 90.9% for MS;and 99.1%,57.7%,95.4% and 88.2% for NICE,*** area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUC) for MS was 0.92(95%CI:0.86-0.98);and AUC for NICE was 0.78(95%CI:0.69,0.88).The Sn,Sp,PPV and NPV in predicting "endoscopic resectability" were 98.9%,86.1%,97.8% and 92.5% for MS;and 98.6%,66.7%,94.7% and 88.9% for NICE,*** AUC for MS was 0.92(95%CI:0.87-0.98);and the AUC for NICE was 0.83(95%CI:0.75-0.90).The AUC values were statistically different for both comparisons(P = 0.0165 and P = 0.0420,respectively).The accuracy for diagnosis of sessile serrated adenoma/polyp(SSA/P) with high confidence utilizing MS classification was 93.2%.The differentiation of SSA/P from other lesions achieved Sp,Sn,PPV and NPV of 87.2%,91.5%,89.6% and 98.6%,*** NPV for predicting adenomas in diminutive rectosigmoid polyps(n = 150) was 96.6% and 95% with MS and NICE ***
